Chapter 1: 14th of October

Disclaimer: I do not own KHR or anything. If I do, I would be rich .-. But I do own my two OC, Akemi and Eisuke!

A/N: Well, this is my first fanfiction and I know it sucks. Please leave a review so I could improve on it! Oh yeah, there are two prologues so bear with it! Link of how Akemi looks like is in my profile under the 'Links' section. It's a small section, so you should be able to find it :3

(12/5/14)- So, yeah. I basically edited the chappy- Screw it, I rewritten the WHOLE STORY but the content is still somewhat similar except I made things a bit more realistic, added in some facts about Akemi's past and covered up the plot holes... I hope. AND SCREW THE PERSON WHO PLAYED A PRANK ON MY HOUSE, HE/SHE FREAKING CAUSED A POWER FAILURE CAUSING ME TO REWRITE THE REWRITE, TAKING MORE OF MY TIME.

And yeah, I'm pretty much just procrastinating the release of my newest chappy cuz' seriously, writer's block sucks.

14th of October.

The day of my birthday. I both hate and love it. Ironic, isn't it?

My name is Akemi, Akemi Yuuki, a child with matching scarlet eyes and long waist-length hair. Today, I just turned six years old and am already in grade four in elementary school. I skipped a few grades as I was, as the adults said, 'a child prodigy.'

"Hey look! It's her..."

"Eww, let's get away from that brat!"

"Her eyes look so creepy and what kind of hair color is that!? It's unnatural."

"Tch, look it's that Yuuki child. I bet she cheated her way to get here."

I merely just brushed away their hurtful words, the glares they look at me with and the hateful mutters they gossiped about, as I continued to walk on to the school gates.

The world was not full of sunshine and rainbows after all.

I was often bullied in school due to the fact that the students got jealous of my grades, despite me being younger than them, and were also creep out by my appearance. People, including adults, tend to shun me away too as I was for a lack of better word, 'a bastard child'.

My father had an affair with my mother once and I was then born. However, he refused to acknowledge me and my mother. My mother could not cope with that fact and...

Committed suicide.

As I was still young and the fact that I was father's child began to spread, he and step-mother had no choice but to take me in to not be seen as heartless people and to keep their image. I guessed that backfired either way.

I did not exactly hate them for gossiping and their treatment to me but I did not like it either. But alas, I was just a child who was powerless against them.

"Akemi! Over here!"

I looked towards the school gate where a boy with spiky, striking auburn hair and brown eyes, waved to me happily with a broad smile on his face.

As if contagious, I began to smile too.

"Eisuke-nii!" I ran towards him and hugged him with glee. He chuckled and ruffled my hair.

"Yo! I came to pick you up-"

14th of October.

"- it's your birthday after all! Let's celebrate it at the amusement park, I even got you a present too!"

This was Eisuke Yuuki, my half-brother who was the legitimate child of father and step-mother, and he was fourteen years old. Even if my life was not exactly happy to say the least, Eisuke-nii was always there for me. Even though I was a bastard child, he did not ignored my existence like my other relatives- including my father and step-mother. Through the ups and downs, he was there to wipe away my tears at my lowest peak and he was also there to share my happiness with him at my highest peak. Although he was powerless, he still stood up for me and defended me.

He is, and always will be, the best brother in the world.

"Un! Arigatou, Eisuke-nii!" I said, filled with euphoria. He then took hold of my hand and tugged me along.

"Then let's go now!" he exclaimed like a little child. I smiled gently and went along with his antics.

While we were walking till we stopped at the road as the traffic lights showed a 'red man', Eisuke-nii shoved a small wrapped box, albeit gently, into my arms.

"What's this?" I asked, examining the box curiously.

"Your present!" Eisuke-nii declared rather childishly.

"I was actually planning to get you that whole set of Vongola Rings that you were pining for but no, my allowance didn't allow me! Fucking expensive prices..." he mumbled the last part. He was a huge fan of the anime, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and I surprisingly got addicted to it too after watching it just a few times with my brother.

Now that I thought of it, it was also Sawada Tsunayoshi's birthday.

"Eh?" I questioned as I did not quite heard what he said but Eisuke-nii quickly brushed that matter aside and told me to open the present when we got home.

"Saa, let's hurry to the amusement park now! I heard they recently built this huge roller coaster..." Eisuke-nii began to indulge me in his ramblings as we crossed the road when the lights showed the 'green man'.

14th of October.

SCREECH!

Eisuke-nii's eyes widened.

"WATCH OUT, AKEMI!" A force pushed me aside and I ended up being thrown and rolling on the ground for a few seconds.

I was dumbfounded by what happened and when I looked up, my eyes widened and I gasped.

I looked up-

14th of October.

- just in time to see Eisuke-nii getting knocked down by a truck.

SPLAT!

A sickening crack was heard.

"E-Eisuke-nii...?"

There was so much red, so much blood. And there was Eisuke-nii, who was practically soaked in it.

I felt like puking but I held it in. I stood up shakily and ran towards Eisuke-nii, albeit nearly tripping over my own foot due to my panic.

"E-Eisuke-nii... b-blood... so much b-blood..." I could only speak incoherently as I knelt and stared down at Eisuke-nii.

Tears started running down my face.

There was blood flowing down from his head, his face looking so deathly pale and white and his eyes slowly losing that spark that I had come to love.

I was so scared. What was happening? Were we not just going to the amusement park to celebrate my birthday?

"Oh my gosh! What happened?"

"Oi! Someone call the ambulance!"

A crowd of by-standers slowly started to flock around the bloody and gruesome scene.

"A-Akemi..." I heard Eisuke-nii's voice among the crowd's softly muttered and my ears perked up.

"Eisuke-nii! Are you okay? D-Don't worry, someone is already calling the ambulance!"I quickly sprouted to comfort him, but it sounded more like it was to comfort myself. I grabbed a hold of his hand tightly as if it was my lifeline.

"A-Akemi... I-I'm glad y-you're f-fine-!" he started to cough out more blood and I panicked even more.

"Eisuke-nii! Stop talking, it's getting worse!" I furiously rubbed my tears away as the image of Eisuke-nii was getting blurrier.

"L-Live... your live to... the fullest, Akemi..." It was getting harder to hear Eisuke-nii and all I could do was just dumbly nod at his words.

"I-I love you... A-Akemi... a-and..." My eyes widened the biggest they could. He then gave me the brightest smile I had ever seen.

His hand then went limp, slipped out of my grasp and onto the road lifelessly.

No.

The spark in his eyes disappeared.

This cannot be happening.

"E-Eisuke-nii...?" I began to shake him softly.

No.

"Eisuke-nii?" The shaking began to become fiercer.

No.

"Eisuke-nii! Eisuke-nii!?" I shook his lifeless body furiously and vigorously.

No.

"Eisuke-nii!? Open your eyes!"

"Didn't you say you wanted to bring me to the amusement park!?"

"Didn't you want to sit on that huge roller coaster!? I want to too, so bring me there!"

"How can you do that if you don't open your eyes now!?"

The crowd began to look at me with pity.

No.

"Wake up, Eisuke-nii! You must be playing dead, right..?"

"Seriously, Eisuke-nii! It's not funny anymore! If you wake up now, we can just pass this off as a huge joke!"

"Eisuke-nii!"

A man placed his hand on my shoulder. "Stop it, kid," he looked at me with a sad expression,"he's already dead."

Dead...

No!

Dead...

No!

Dead...

NO!

"IT'S A LIE!" Tears kept rolling down my cheeks. "EISUKE-NII WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!"

I shook his arm off and continued to shake Eisuke-nii.

"Kid..! Kid! Calm down! He's already dead! There's nothing you can do..." the man said while pulling me away from Eisuke-nii.

"IT'S A LIE! IT'S A LIE! EISUKE-NII!" I trashed about. My heart had never been hurt so badly before.

14th of October.

The day of my birthday.

The day when I could not protect my own brother.

The day my brother died because of me.

The day when Eisuke-nii died.

"EISUKE-NII!"

.

.

.

" Happy birthday, Akemi... I hope you will like the present..."
