Angel – Thor
The battle in New York had finally come to a close and I'd lost count how many innocents that I had to send off once they'd died. It was a sad day for many families today.
I was wandering through the destroyed streets that were littered with wrecked cars and other debris, including a few corpses. I paused outside a shwarma joint and peered through the window, making my wings gently thump on the glass as I leant forward, earning myself the attention of a man with blonde hair and blue eyes.
After looking at him for a little longer I realised he was the God of Thunder, Thor Odinson from Asgard who came down to Earth to help with the Avengers. I noticed he was still looking at me and sent him a small smile before continuing my journey through the streets of New York, finding more lost souls and sending them away so they were stuck lingering here. The innocents that were unfortunately killed were sent up while the Chitauri that had died were sent below the Earth where the Underworld was.
I'd gone round in a circle while doing my so called 'rounds' of collecting up souls before sending them off and found myself going past the shwarma joint again, seeing that it was now empty from the people I saw in it earlier. Something brushed gently against my left wing and I spun around with a gasp, finding it was the God of Thunder standing behind me.
"You, are an angel. Back on Asgard the myths say you are very few, it is rare to even see one down here on Midgard." His deep voice sent shivers through me and my wings ruffled a little. I tried to shake the feeling off, the last time I fell for someone he left me heartbroken. He was one of the few humans that could see me and after a few months he shunned me away from him saying I was a freak that shouldn't exist.
"Not many humans can see me, so I am more often safer here. There are few who come up from the Underworld, but I send them back." I smiled a little before making a move to walk around him, only to have him keep blocking my path. "May I ask what you are doing Thor?"
"You know my name?"
"Many know your name, the famous God of Thunder." I replied.
"It is only proper that I now know your name fair maiden, seeing as you seem to already know about me."
"My name is Misty Spark. I was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver and I awoke to find myself as I am now, an angel." My expression saddened slightly as I stretched my wings out a little. "I have only loved once, but the human left me as a freak of nature."
"I loved a human once, but I had to leave to return to Asgard and she found new love."
"It seems that humans are not the best at love, are they?" I smiled lightly before seeing his hammer on the ground beside his feet. "Would you mind if I have a try?" I asked, pointing to it and making him look down. "I have heard legends and wish to touch Mjölnir."
"Go ahead my lady, but no one else has ever managed to lift it." He chuckled, stepping back a couple feet so I could go forward and reach it.
Excitement welled up inside of me as I reached down and touched the handle of the powerful hammer; the power seemed to hum as my fingertips dusted along the intricate handle. I wrapped my small hand around it and braced myself before pulling up, blinking in shock as it lifted easily from the ground. I looked up at Thor to see his expression matching what mine felt like. He looked from his hammer in my hand and then to my face before stepping forward.
"How are you doing that? No one can lift it except for me."
"I don't know." I said quietly.
"Ah, I was wondering when this would happen." My eyes widened as Thor's father, Odin, came into view with a slight smile on his face.
"Father? What does this mean?"
"She who is worthy shall share the power of Thor and forever stay by his side as his queen." Odin rehearsed, making me nearly drop the hammer in shock. I held it back out towards Thor who grabbed it from me and I curled my wings around my body. "You have found your true love son, do not lose her."
Odin walked away before a flash of light engulfed him, making him disappear. I glanced around in a little fright before darting off in the opposite direction, cursing myself for actually running away from the man I made a connection with. A large hand appeared on my stomach and I was jerked back to meet a hard chest with Thor's hand splayed over my abdomen.
"Why do you run Misty? You have nothing to fear from me, I will not hurt you."
"I don't know, I didn't want to I just did." I said softly, still looking down at his hand. I was slowly turned around and had to tilt my head back to see his face, noticing that he was staring intently down at me. "What?" I asked quietly.
"You are very beautiful, I so not see why someone would leave you just because you have wings." He stated, making me blush lightly. "Would you come back to Asgard and be my angel?" His hand came up and brushed my hair off my face and I nodded, deciding to follow my heart once more.
