A/N: I am so sorry it has taken so long to update this story but life outside of cyber world got in the way, plus the fact that my muse for this story took yet another vacation. I am afraid this will only be a filler chapter to try and get me back into the writing of this story but I hope it does not disappoint you.

Dr Shannon watched Ryan from her spot near the door as he sat on the bed nursing his arm that was still showing the bruises from the rough treatment at the hands of Weaver, the Phoenix commander and now more bruises were beginning to show from where Lt Guzman had dragged across the compound towards the medical centre for the latest tests that he had just had to endure. He had not spoken a word during the time that Dr Shannon had been doing the testing despite her attempts to get him to do so.

The tests had not taken that long to do and the results would be ready soon not as soon as they normally would have been done had the colony not been invaded but soon enough and she was not sure how the news would be taken by either Ryan nor the rest of the colony especially Commander Taylor whose on DNA had been used as a comparison against the young communications technicians own DNA when Guz had told her who it was suspected to be Ryan's mother during his somewhat hushed conversation with her he had admitted to Dr Shannon that the Commander and Wash had been having an affair on and off for the few years and had been involved at one point at about the right time just before if the information they had was correct Ryan Marshall's conception and as such there was a possibility that Taylor might be Ryan Marshall's father.

"Doc is the test results ready yet?"

Dr Shannon started slightly as she realised that she had zoned out for a while during her musing about Marshall's situation and she had not heard Guz return to the small side room where she and Marshall were waiting for the results, although she had other patients that needed her attention for some reason she had felt uneasy about leaving the younger soldier on his own, there was a look in his eyes that worried her, a look of hopelessness and vulnerability that she had not seen there before, not that she had spent much time with the young man before the invasion but she had seen him around a few times and he had always seemed happy and carefree despite the dangers around them but now that happiness was gone and she was concerned that he would do something stupid.

"Let me just check Guz with the lab, I won't be long."

The lieutenant stepped further into the room as Shannon made her way for the door, he did not want Marshall to be left alone at the moment not just because the lad was still under suspicion but because like the Doc he had noticed the look in the young man's eyes and although he had pretended not to notice when the young soldier had flinched when Guz had reached for him in the cell, he also could now see the dark 'hand print like' bruises that were on Ryan's arms.

"Where did you get those bruises Marshall?"

Marshall didn't glance up when Guz asked his question; he merely continued rubbing his arm staring off as though to some point in space, it was as though he was in some sort of a trance and not aware of his surroundings or of anyone else in the room with him.

Guz stepped forward so that he was closer to the younger man and repeated his question, slightly louder this time.

"I asked where did you get those bruises Marshall?"

Still no answer from the younger man and exasperated Guz reached a hand forward to place it on his Ryan's shoulder just as Doctor Shannon walked back into the room and it was at that point that Marshall seemed to register the presence of others in the room, he jumped suddenly and tried to move back from Guz but he was once again too close to the edge of the bed and started to topple off of it, his hands frantically trying to get a grip on the sheet beneath him.

Before he toppled off the bed completely Guz leapt forward to grab him, to steady him but the moment his hand gripped Ryan's shoulder the young man yelled incoherently and tried to take a swing at Guz who blocked and then grabbed his wrist forcing his arm away and Ryan backwards on to the bed.

As Ryan's back connected with the bed he went berserk crying and screaming at Guz let him go, absolute panic in his voice as he tried to twist and turn his body in a desperate attempt it seemed to get Guz off of him. Dr Shannon leapt forward with a hypo spray and injected Ryan with a sedative, in an attempt to calm him down but it took more time than usual to calm down the young man's hysteria.

The sound of the struggle within the room brought others to see what was going on and two soldiers pushed their way past the medical personal as they helped Guz to subdue Marshall and hold him until the sedative took affect before the young man suddenly became limp as consciousness fled him. Guz issued an order to one of the soldiers who had entered the room to get restraints and between the three of them they restrained the young man tying him securely to the bed.

"Really gentlemen are this necessary? He is unconscious and can do no harm to anyone."

"It is as much for his own good as others Dr Shannon, are those Marshall's test results" Lt Guzman asked her as he straightened himself up from Marshall's now prone figure, the other two soldiers warily waiting to see what his further orders would be.

"They are and they confirm what you told me."

Dr Shannon looked over to the bed where Ryan now slept sedated and unaware of the test results that were about to change his life, for the good or bad was yet still to be seen.

"Ryan Marshall is younger than the nineteen years his paperwork states him to be and according to these test results he is only seventeen years old. The paternity testing that was done to confirm his parentage also came back positive from the DNA samples we had on file and from what we took from him, his mother was indeed Lieutenant Washington and the DNA that we had on storage for the commander has proved that beyond a doubt that he his the father of this young man."

A/N: I hope no one is too surprised there and that this chapter has not been too bad, as always reviews are welcomed and I promise to start getting back to writing this story. Of course reviews do help I find to get the old muse going and hopefully not another flippin vacation.
