A/N: This is just a filler chapter it was supposed to have been on the end of the last chapter but it wasn't so here it is.

Ryan stared around the space of the small room at Boylan's that was now his home, the past few hours were still pretty much a blur within his memories as he tried to recall exactly what had taken place when he had been removed from the brig by lieutenant Guzman and his former house mate Mark Reynolds.

It had taken a fair bit of encouragement and with help from both of the men to get Marshall up from the cold concrete floor on which he had spent the night. He had been stiff from the cold and Reynolds had only just managed to cover up a gasp as he saw Ryan's face and the dried blood on his face that had run from his nose and what appeared to be the beginning of two black eyes.

He had seen the grim look on the face of Guzman as he had been hauled up more gently than he had expected to be from the floor and he had hung his head in shame unable to look either of the two men in the eyes and the feeling of such intense shame filling his already bruised body making him wish that the floor would just open up and swallow him.

They had half carried him out of the cell and across the compound towards the medical centre again before he had been taken to see the commander and had been shocked to also find Boylan waiting with the commander. The man had glanced at him for a moment smiling briefly before turning back to the commander, nodding at him and then exiting the room as Marshall had stood as straight as he had been able to before Commander Taylor.

He had fully expected Taylor to inform him that he was being exiled from the colony but had been shocked again when the commander had told him on careful consideration that he was to be relieved of his post in the security force and kicked out of the military due to his being underage and placed on probation until his eighteenth birthday which was nine months away and then they would decide whether or not he would be allowed to re-enlist or not.

It had been so silent in the Taylor's office when his decision about Ryan's future had been decided and Ryan had been unsure whether to cry or cheer at the fact that he was not being exiled but he had done neither.

So in shock at the commander's words and judgement that he almost did not hear the last of his now former commanders words telling him that he was being released in to Boylan's care and that as he was no longer a member of the security force that he would be evicted from the house that he had for the last two years shared with three other soldiers, Mark Reynolds being one of his now former house mates as well as colleagues.

It had been Reynolds who had accompanied him back to his now former home as he had gathered his few belongings together, it had not taken long. He had not brought much with him and since his time in the colony he had not added to it much except for a few books for beside his love of anything mechanical he also loved in his spare time to read, the others around him had always found his love for old fashioned books quite funny and had often laughed at him when they had caught him reading in the past but he had not cared. He only had two books and he knew every word in them by heart but he would not have given them up for anything.

Ryan returned to the present as he stared again around the small room that had previously been a storeroom at the back of the bar that Boylan owned, it was not much but it was now his home.

A/N: A new start for Ryan but there are those who do not want him to enjoy his 'freedom' as you will find out in the next chapter.
