Fall to Pieces – Bruce Banner/The Hulk
"I have a theory." Fury stated, making me arch an eyebrow questioningly at him. "You'll be able to stop yourself falling."
"Wha-" I was cut off by him giving me a harsh shove and found myself tumbling from the roof of Stark Tower. I screamed as the air whipped harshly at my face, stinging my skin. "Help me!"
The ground continued coming closer and I knew I was going to go face first into it if nothing happened to stop me falling. I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to brace myself for the pain that was surely about to hit me. I felt tears build up behind my closed eyelids before something grabbed the back of my shirt, jerking me to a halt. I peeked my eyes open and saw that the strap of my jacket had gotten caught on a pole sticking out the side of the building.
I saw I was still a ways away from the ground and felt the tears fall before realising I was just outside the glass window of Bruce's lab. I tapped on the glass with my foot as I saw him in there and whimpered as it made me sway slightly on the pole. I tapped a little harder which caught his attention and saw him look out to where I was. His expression turned shocked before he ran over and opened the window beside me.
"Hannah! What the hell are you doing out there?!" he exclaimed, reaching out for me. I grabbed hold of his hand with both of mine and felt him pull, making me whimper in fear. "It's okay, I won't let you fall. Just trust me"
He unhooked me from the pole and I let out a short scream as I swung down to the window he was leaning out of, but his grip on me tightened and stopped me from falling. I used my feet to help push myself up the wall as he pulled me into his lab through the window. Before he could put me down on the floor I clung onto him tightly with my arms and legs, letting out a sob before crying into his shoulder.
"What happened?" he asked, holding onto me and rubbing my back soothingly. "Hannah, talk to me."
"F-Fury thought he could get me to levitate by th-throwing me off the r-roof." I stammered through my tears. "I was so scared Bruce!" One of his hands held me tightly around the waist while his other tangled his hand in my black hair which was slightly windswept from free falling through the air.
"He pushed you off the top of Stark Tower?!"
He looked at me and I saw the ring of green seeping into the irises of his dark eyes, making me nod tearfully as I held his face in my hands in an attempt to stop him from changing into the Hulk. It seemed to work as the green faded away and he just continued holding me to him. He turned around and walked away from the open window towards the lab bench he was working at before I had been hanging outside.
He cleared a small space free of papers and sat me down onto the table top, pulling back slightly so he could look at me and feeling my cheeks grow slightly warmer as I realised he was positioned between my legs which were still wrapped tightly around his waist. He gently grasped my chin and made me look up at him.
"I'm falling to pieces here Bruce." I whispered, feeling more tears fill my eyes. "I don't know how much more I can take of Fury nearly killing me to try and get my power out." I cried quietly. "I'm thinking of leaving."
"No, don't leave; everything's gonna be fine. I'll take over helping you, I'll make sure Fury doesn't try and throw you off any more buildings. Just please, don't leave." He said softly. His forehead gently bumped against mine and our noses brushed as I realised how close he was to me.
"I don't know Bruce."
He tilted my head to the side slightly before his soft warm lips captured my own in a gentle kiss, making me nearly jerk backwards from shock; but I managed to keep myself almost frozen in place. A few seconds later my shock wore off and I found myself grabbing his hair with my fingers and kissing him back, gripping onto the front of his shirt with my other hand.
His hands were on my hips as he pulled back slightly to look at me, his dark brown eyes searching my light blue ones. I trailed my fingers down the side of his face and along the curve of his jaw, making a smile tug at the corner of the lips that I'd just kissed.
"If you fall to pieces, I'll be here to pick them right back up."
