A/N: Sorry but just a small chapter this one!

The travelling had not been the easiest for Commander Taylor and his team the area of the bad lands that the signal of the microchip embedded in Marshall's body had brought them to had been boggy and almost unpassable and the vehicles although were capable of dealing with most terrain's had found this one particularly hard to traverse. None of those presently travelling in the rescue party had ever been in this area before and so that impeded their search as none of them including Taylor was sure just how many mercenaries they would be facing under the command of the Phoenix commander or the exact amount of supplies and fire power they had.

The steady bleeping on the small locator box he carried indicated that they were going in the right direction and so they at least had that on their side but his thoughts kept turning to the state that they might find his son in, he knew he shouldn't do this to himself not just because it messed him about emotionally and that was something he did not enjoy but also Taylor was concerned it would impair his judgment and endanger the lives of those who had volunteered to accompanied him in getting Ryan back.

Suddenly the beeping got louder as they came to an area that looked rather overgrown and Taylor knew that there was no way they could get through it in the vehicles, the rest of the way they were going to have to do on foot. Signalling briefly to the vehicle travelling behind them Taylor pulled over to one side and grabbing the backpack from the seat behind him and the pulse rifle both he and Jim started to head over to the other jeep that had parked a little way behind them when all off the sudden the sound there was the sound of pulse weapons being charged around them and they found themselves being pinned down by firepower.

The underground cave system was bigger than either Gabriel or her team had at first thought it would be there seemed to be more tunnels than they had first guessed and it was going to take longer than they had originally thought however that did not deter any of them from doing their assigned jobs as they searched.

Nor would they leave without Ryan they were going to take him home alive or not as they searched they came across a number of things that looked as though they came from the colony and recently too which meant that there was at least one traitor still within the colony and also some things that might be of use later on either to themselves or to the colony.

Gabriel had just entered what looked to be another dead end and unoccupied one when she spotted light seeping out from under a rough-hewn door and the sound of voices she moved forward with caution in case it was a trap.

Ryan and Washington were still sat close together on the rough floor with the Phoenix commander standing over them smirking as his revelation to them both sank in and Washington looked with some concern at the young man next to her unsure what his reaction would be to the man's words. She saw in his eyes a look that she hoped was not one of resentment and hatred towards her for giving him up when he was a but a few hours old as a baby.

"It's alright Lieutenant Washington I already knew you were my mother I've known for almost a year now."

"How can you know that?" the man above them snarled.

Ryan looked with undisclosed hatred towards the man who stood over them still sure that he had them at a disadvantage.

"It'd called DNA you moron, you didn't think that the Commander would just take the evidence of the words from the paperwork that you had deliberately left behind as concrete proof did you? Or are you that stupid?"

Ryan sneered at him; the commander face turned an angry red as the lad on the ground stared back at him with a new defiance which Ryan if anything really did not feel. He knew he was deliberately goading the man and that the outcome wold probably not be good either for he or his mother but he had had enough or he was not going to take any more.

"Why you little…." The commander sneered as he swung his foot back to kick the impudent brat at his feet but before his foot could swing back the sound of a pulse rifle powering and a cold voice stopped him.

"I wouldn't do that if I was you, you arsehole."

Taylor knew that they could not hold off those firing upon their party they just did not have the firepower to repel those surrounding him and it was with reluctance that he ordered his men to throw down their arms and surrender. For a moment he thought they would disobey him as he ordered them to stand down and he felt the bile of failure in his mouth as the mercenaries stepped forward taking their weapons from them grinning as they then bound their prisoners hands behind them.

He heard a slight grunt as one of the mercenaries slapped Jim Shannon across the back of the head with his pulse rifle to stop his struggles as his the mans hands were bound momentarily knocking him to the ground before he was unceremoniously hauled up and pushed forward to join the others who were being pushed towards the cave system they could see not too far in the distance.
