Shape shifter – Tony Stark
I jumped in fright as Tony suddenly appeared in front of me, seemingly coming from thin air. His face held a cheeky grin as he looked down at me.
"What ya doing Mel?" he asked, trying to poke his nose over my book to see what I was reading. I giggled a little as he jerked back when I nearly caught his nose as I shut the book. "Pride and Prejudice. You read this stuff? I didn't know that."
"There's a lot you don't know about me Stark." I said quietly with a small smile.
"Try me." he smirked, sitting himself on the table in front of me.
"Why did Fury get me to join SHIELD?" I asked, watching him as he swung his legs. His mouth opened, but no sound came out and he stared at me in confusion.
"Why did he? As far as all of us know you don't really do anything, no offence." I laughed lightly before shifting myself into a small dormouse, successfully scaring the hell out of the handsome man in front of me. He jumped back and nearly fell off the edge of the table before bending down and sticking his face close to me, making my whiskers tickle his cheek. "Mel, is that you?"
I squeaked at him in response before jumping onto his thigh, making him catch me before I fell off. He scratched my small head lightly and I shivered slightly before changing back, finding myself sitting sideways on his lap and making my cheeks heat up slightly in a light blush.
"What do you think?" I asked, looking to the side so I could see his face.
"I think, that's amazing. Why don't you tell anyone?"
"Fury makes me keep it secret for missions. He usually sends me in as undercover before you guys go in. because I can change into something so small and insignificant like a mouse, no one knows I'm there." I smiled slightly as realisation dawned over his face.
"That's where you disappear to! I always notice you're gone before we have to go out." I nodded as he put the pieces together, letting him know he got it right. I went to move off his lap, but found his arms had gone around my waist and over my thighs; holding me in place. I looked at him questioningly and nearly reeled back when his nose was almost touching mine. "Promise me you'll be careful when he sends you out."
"I'm always careful."
"I know you are, but just promise me. When things start going wrong, just get out there whatever way you can without being seen." He said quietly, bringing his hand up and stroking his thumb down the side of my face. "I can't lose you. You're the only one that keeps me sane."
He pressed a kiss to my forehead before slipping out from under me and leaving the room in which I had been reading where no one else knew about.
"Wait, how did you find this room? Only Fury knows about it!" I called after him, only to see him look back at me with a wink before walking away.
