Lab partners – Bruce Banner
My glasses slid down my nose as I looked over at Bruce, noticing he was watching me as I mixed the various chemicals.
"Can I help you Mr Banner?" I teased, making a smile quirk his lips up.
"You're so delicate when you work." He commented. "I don't know how you do it." He came over and pushed my glasses back up to the bridge of my nose with his finger, making me go slightly cross-eyes as I watched him; hearing him release a chuckle.
"I'm not cute." I muttered, hearing the thoughts from his mind. Bruce gave me a look and I smiled sheepishly, remembering that he didn't really like me using my power on him. "Sorry." I apologised, going back to my work and leaving him on the other side of the table as I moved round my workspace.
"Why did you move away when your work's here?" he asked, shuffling round the table corner to stand beside me again.
"Because I need space to stop my power." I mumbled, sliding further down the table again.
"Why?"
"Because I have trouble controlling it around you!" I blurted out before biting harshly down on my bottom lip, looking away from the attractive man standing a few feet away from me.
"I make it harder for you to control it?" I heard the curiosity in his voice and merely nodded, sniffing a little for making a fool out of myself in front of the man that I had become attracted to over the past couple months. "Why didn't you just say so earlier then? I would have given you some space so you can get a hold of it." His voice was gentle as he spoke, making me feel even worse for nearly yelling at him.
"That's the problem, I don't want you any further away than you already are." I whispered, keeping my head down so my hair covered my face and my glasses nearly slid off my face; making me push them back up in slight annoyance.
"It's better if I'm further away, the other-"
"Why don't you understand that I love the Hulk just as much as I love you?" I cut him off, making him look at me in shock. "Whether you like it or not, both of you are the same person just with different bodies. Nothing that he will do can change that way that I feel for you Bruce." He caught me by the wrist just before I had managed to escape from the lab, yanking me to a gentle stop before pulling me back into the room where he could turn me round to face him again.
"You love us?" he asked. "Despite of the other guy's temper?"
"Yes Bruce." I said quietly before feeling his hand lightly grasp my chin and make me look up at his face to see the gentle expression and the soft light in his dark brown eyes.
"You are a very strange woman to love us." He said with a smile, rubbing his thumb along my jawline. "But I am grateful that you're the one that does." He leant down slightly to my height and kissed me with so much warmth that I could feel the ache in my chest melt away as his lips moulded to mine.
"I'm used to being called strange." I smiled a little as our noses bumped together. Bruce chuckled and kissed me again, both of us unaware that Tony was spying from the doorway.
"Knew it." He muttered, grinning.
