The god and the mortal – Thor
"Why did you bring me here?" I whined. "You know I don't like hot weather."
"Shut up Kate." My friend laughed as her mother drove us through part of the desert. I stuck my tongue out at her and ducked from her fist with a squeal.
"I'll come back and pick you two up at four. Be careful out here." Her mother smiled as the both of us climbed out the car and made our way further into the small nearly deserted town.
When I looked back to my side after a few minutes I found I was on my own, making me panic a little. I began calling out my friend's name before releasing a scream as a hand landed on my shoulder. I nearly stumbled over my own feet as I spun around quickly to see who had poked me, finding a very tall rugged looking man standing about a foot away from me.
"I apologise maiden, I did not mean to frighten you." He said, retracting his hand from my shoulder. "I heard you calling for someone and thought I could be of assistance."
"I'm looking for my friend. Who are you?"
"I am Thor Odinson, what be your name my lady?" he replied, looking down at me. Even my height of 5'8 was puny compared to him.
"Kate." I answered, placing my hand in his as he held his larger one out towards me; blushing lightly as he kissed the back of it. "You could help me find my friend? I don't know where she went, one minute she was here the next she was completely gone." I frowned slightly before he released my hand and looked around.
"What does she look like?" he asked, glancing back at me as we began wandering around the old desert town.
"Brown hair and she's wearing blue jeans and a purple shirt." I said, squinting slightly as the sun hit my eyes. "Her name's Alex." I added as a helpful hint.
"Alex!" I jumped at the sound of Thor's yell as I wasn't expecting it to be so loud, and the fact that he was right next to me didn't help a lot either. I rubbed my ear absentmindedly to stop the ringing before yelling my friend's name out with him.
Thor and I spent around half an hour looking for my lost friend, but what I didn't understand was how she became lost so easily; I mean, she was right beside me so I would have heard her go off wouldn't I?
I felt someone poking me in the side, making me frown as I looked down to find nothing there. I looked over at Thor to see that he'd gone, leaving me by myself once again. A specifically had jab had me blacking out and I felt myself falling.
My eyes snapped open and I found myself lying in what looked like a medical bay somewhere, making me sit upright with a confused expression on my face. I looked around to see Alex beside me with a smile on her face, making me realise she was the one that had been poking me.
"You okay? You passed out in the desert town and Thor brought us both back here." She said, making my frown deepen even more.
"We were looking for you." I said. "God, I'm so confused." I rubbed my head slightly before my attention was caught by Thor walking into the room with a grin once he saw I was awake.
"Kate, you're awake! You fainted while we were looking for your friend and as I was bringing you here I found her." he smiled, coming closer so he was right beside the bed I was in. I groaned lightly and ran a hand through my slightly tangled hair.
"Told you I don't like hot weather." I grumbled, making Alex laugh.
