Me: Heh, so this is me trying to make up for the fact that I haven't updated this one in over a year. :/ Sorry! This is my peace offering, two updates! Anyways, I only own Terra and her family, otherwise happy reading! And Italics are a dream/nightmare.

At the morgue, Terra was trying very hard to distract herself, but it wasn't working. Many questions were spinning in her head as she tried to work. There were many times when she had to step out for fresh air because the stress was getting under her skin.

"Hello." She jumped and turned on her heel to see Basil looking slightly amused that he had startled her. She placed a paw on her chest and glared at him.

"Basil, don't do that. You startled me." Basil chuckled lightly.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." Terra playfully rolled her eyes and chuckled in return. She had always felt at ease in his presence. A silence fell between them until Basil cleared his throat.

"I was wondering why you seemed so preoccupied this morning." Terra felt her cheeks heat up and she looked down at the white tile floor.

"It's nothing." She murmured. She knew that was a lame excuse and Basil won't buy it, but there was way to much at risk. Terra forced herself to met his eyes when he placed a paw on her shoulder.

"Terra, you know that you can tell me." She turned away again.

"No I can't." A hurt look crossed his face and Terra kept her eyes to the floor. She didn't want to see the look of hurt in his eyes, if she did, she might break and tell him everything. He sighed through his nose.

"You know that you can trust me, Terra."

"I know."

"Then why won't you tell me what is wrong?" Terra took a step back.

"You won't believe me if I did tell you." She turned and started to walk away when Basil told her to wait. Terra turned to look at him.

"You will tell me, won't you?" Terra looked away.

"Don't you see? I can't, Basil." Terra turned and walked into her office, closing the door and shutting the blinds. Basil lingered for a little bit, but soon left after a moment. After he left, Terra poked her head out of her office.

"I'm sorry, I really wish I could tell you." She whispered before returning to her work in the quiet solitude of her office.

Terra didn't go to Baker Street that night. She didn't trust herself not to tell both him and Dawson everything. Terra sighed as she stepped into her own flat and locked the door. She walked up the stairs of her home and flopped on her bed, completely drained. She was so exhausted that eventually, her mind caved into the darkness of sleep.

It was dark. All she could see was bleak darkness in every direction that she turned. Terra shivered as the crushing sense of dread loomed over her.

"Terra!" Her head snapped to the right, towards the familiar voice.

'Basil! I'm here!' She attempted to call out, but her voice was useless. She could only stand there helpless as Basil emerged from the dark, offering a way out. His green eyes twinkled in the dark and they only held love and concern. When Terra outstretched her paw to met his, he suddenly screamed in agony. Terra's eyes widened in horror as Basil fell forward, the back of his coat ripped and covered in his blood. The last things that she remembered were Ratigan's eyes peering out from the darkness, and his sinister fanged Cheshire cat smile.

Terra screamed as she awoke. She was still in the dress that she had worn earlier that day and it was dark outside meaning that she had slept for over two hours. Terra panted as she rubbed her head to reduce the coming headache. Her heart was aching as well. Nightmares had been a common occurrence for her due both to her troubled past and the aftermath of Ratigan's takeover. Both Basil and Dawson did what they could to help, but in the end it did not lessen the crippling nightmares that she would have when she was in distress. Terra quickly changed into her night gown and slid under the covers of her bed. Without realizing it, she began to quietly sing a soft lullaby that her sister would sing whenever she was frightened as a child. Eventually, the female mouse fell fast asleep once again, not plagued by nightmares anymore.
