Chapter Three

Fabian's mother pulled him for a huge hug. When she pulled away from him, she planted two motherly kisses on his cheeks. "Oh Fabian! How's my little boy been? We didn't get a chance to talk at your graduation. Tell me everything. - (She turned to look at Nina) - but first tell me who this beautiful young lady is." Nina blushed. "Mom, this is my girlfriend. Nina." Fabian's mother moved to Nina and trapped her in a bone crushing hug. Nina had barely gotten enough strength to hug her back when she pulled away.

"It's so good to meet you. You had my boy star struck nearly three years. Anyone who can take his face out of book deserves applause." Nina's blush flared right back up again. "It's nice to meet to you too Mrs. Rutter and-" "Oh, please call me Mary. No need to be formal."

"Um, okay... Mary." Mary smiled at Nina. She then called out to her husband, telling him that there was someone he should meet.

When Fabian's father walked into the room it was as if royalty had stepped in. His back was straight and his head held high. He radiated power and confidence. You would never be able to to tell where the stereotype ended he began. Nina awkwardly waved, suddenly feeling inferior and out of place. "Hi, I'm Nina. Fabian's girlfriend." He stared at her with solid blue eyes. She could see where Fabian got his looks. But Fabian seemed softer, more play than work.

"American." He said distastefully "How nice." Mary gave him a scolding look. "Richard. Be nice."

He looked at her as if he had done nothing wrong. "I am simply expressing my opinion." He tried to defend himself. He turned to Nina. "Where exactly are you from dear?" Richard asked her. ( Completely ignoring the fact that he was just extremely rude about her home.) "Uh, I was raised on a ranch in California."

He looked down at his shoes and seemed to think that information didn't really help her case. "So you're experienced with animals then?" Richard asked trying to keep conversation.

"Yeah. I have a horse back home. Her name is Jade." She replied smiling politely. "How fascinating." He said quietly, sound utterly bored with this subject, and with Nina.

Richard turned to his wife. "Mary, why don't we get started on supper? It's getting rather late." Mary smiled at Richard. "Of course dear. -(she turned to look at Nina and Fabian.)- Why don't you two go upstairs and do… whatever. Supper will be done in two hours at most."

Fabian nodded at his mother and pulled Nina upstairs with him.

"So what do you want to watch?" Patricia asked Eddie as they were driving to the theater. He shrugged at her.

Patricia sighed "I tried being the super nice girlfriend. I tried being the super mean girlfriend. I tried being Patricia but nothing is working. Why won't you tell me what's wrong with you?" She paused. "Did I do something wrong?" The light turned red and she pulled for his hand. "Look Eddie," she began "I may not be the best girlfriend in the world but I know when something is wrong. And the more you ignore me, the more I'll badger you."

Eddie spared his girlfriend a glance before the light turned green and he had to focus back on the road. A few seconds of silence passed before he spoke in hopes of soothing his annoyed girlfriend. "I'm sorry." he stated simply.

Patricia lifted her head her phone. "Hm?" she hummed. "I'm sorry." he repeated. Patricia almost smiled. Both she and Eddie were stubborn with apologies.

"What for?" she looked over at him. "Making you upset. We just graduated. We should be celebrating. Not fighting."

"We'll I was fighting. You were ignoring me." She said. Eddie looked at her with raised eyebrows. "But I accept your apology." She said sweetly.

He grabbed for her hand. "Well dark theaters have always been our thing. So we have tonight to lighten the mood. Let's do it."

Patricia squeezed his hand and smiled. Hopefully tonight would go well. Everyone wants to start summer break with a bang, not a bomb.

"So your mom seems nice." Nina said once she was seated on his bed. "Yeah, she's pretty cool." Fabian answered

A beat of silence passed.

"So does your dad have something against Americans or something, because I get the feeling he doesn't like me as much as your mom does." She rushed out wringing at the material on her shirt.

"It doesn't matter Nina. You're the only girl that I'm going to bring home and introduce as my girlfriend do he'll just have to deal with it. His opinion is one to the world okay. So don't sweat it."

"So he really doesn't like me."

Fabian looked at her, exasperated. "Is that really all you got from that?" He took her hands. "He just has his own visions. It's barely that you're American. It's that you're not English and posh and owns three lakes and a membership to an exclusive country club. You aren't his ideal girl. But you're mine. That's all that matters right?"

"Yeah, I just really want your folks to like me. Anubis is the only family I have and, if we were to, you know, they would be my parents."

"Wait, did your grams…."

"Pass, yeah. I was just excited to have a new family. But you're right. You're all I need."

He smiled and kissed her forehead. "Right. Now that that conversation is over and done with we need to get you changed. I'm sure this death trap of an outfit you have on is pretty uncomfortable."

"Hey!" Nina reprimanded.

"This very beautiful death trap." He corrected himself. "I'll just go look for something you can change into. We can go get your stuff from where ever you're staying tomorrow.

She smiled. "Okay."

He turned away from her to look for something that would fit. He found a pair of plaid pajamas pants and a plain white shirt. They wouldn't fit her but they would have to do.

"Um, you can wear these." He handed her his clothes and she began to take off her shoes. "You're not leaving to change?"

She looked up from unstrapping her shoes. "Why would I need to?" Nina asked.

"Oh. No reason." Nina stood up. Without her shoes on she looked exceptionally shorter. "You're cool with me changing in here right. You've always been the modest one."

"It's totally cool. Very, very cool. Though I doubt you are." She laughed. "Well than if you're so cool about this than can you unzip me?"

"I think you're doing this on purpose. But sure sweetie. I'll unzip you." She faced her back to and moved her hair out of the way.

Fabian took a deep breath; put his hands on zipper, and pulled it down ever so slowly. "Fabian, I would prefer it if my dress came off today." Nina laughed. "Sorry."

Fabian stopped wasting time and simply pulled it down and Nina stepped out of it like it was totally normal for her to be half naked in front of him with only skimpy pieces of lace to cover her. "Wow, Nina, you surely dressed for the occasion." She laughed. "Sorry Fabian. I actually wasn't planning on sexy times with you. Besides your parents are downstairs. Even though they probably wouldn't be able hear us, 'cause your house is so massive." By the time she finished talking, instead of her lingerie she was clad in Fabian's old clothes.

Fabian smiled. "I can't tell what looks better. You in nothing, or you in my clothes."

"Glad to appeal to your eyes. So what are we gonna do for the next to two hours?"

Fabian walked over to her and kissed her square on the mouth. He pulled away, grinning. "I have an idea." She leaned up and whispered, "I think I like that idea." He kissed her in a way that made her knees wobble, but she didn't need to as he held her close, giving her all the support she needed. Neither of them heard the door open but they both heard the loud 'ahem' that came from the doorway. Nina pulled away first whispering a scared 'oh my gods' before walking away from Fabian to the other side of the room.

"Sorry to interrupt your… activities but your mother changed her decision to cook and ordered pizza instead. I figured I could bring it up to you." His father said, putting forward the box of pizza that showed for his reason for barging in. Fabian walked forward to take the box from his father. "Thanks, dad."

"Mhm. And Fabian?"

"Yeah dad?"

"If you're going to continue, please the lock the door and spare me the sight." And with that he walked out.

"That was embarrassing." Nina said. "Yeah, well, dad never learned to knock on doors. So, that'll happen a hell of a lot more than we'll want it too."

If that's true, this is going to be one eventful summer. Nina thought.

Well. She was somewhat right.

Oh my god! Did I die? Is that what happened? I am sooooo sorry. I have never been good at updating. I never do make it past chapter 2. Any way, I hope it's not too short, especially since I've had like years to write it, but I have a little task for you.

So I can end summer break here and skip right into the first day of college. Or I can do that in the next chapter. Can you write in the reviews what I should do?

Lots and lots and lots of love from Cookie.
