At first, Kagami tried to escape Aomine's grasp. To his frustration, he quickly found out that there was no way he could. Aomine had a grip like iron.
Kagami reluctantly let himself be pulled inside Aomine's house. Aomine kept his vise-like grip steady as he closed, then locked the door and pulled Kagami into a comfortable looking room.
It was a relaxing coffee-colour with a dark brown chair and couch set placed in front of a television screen. There were a few cans, magazines and chip bags neatly placed on a small table near the couch's left armrest and a distinct dent in the cushions nearby.
It must be Aomine's favourite spot.
There was a large window on the wall across from the door, but the blinds were drawn. The sunlight had probably been reflecting off of the television. It was remarkably clean, especially for somewhere Aomine had been residing in.
It hit Kagami then that he really didn't know much about Aomine. Sure, he knew about stuff related to basketball, but that was the extent it.
It kind of made him curious.
Aomine let go of Kagami's wrist and took his bag, quickly rifling through it and slipping his phone into his pocket before tossing it into a corner.
"Sit down. Want something to drink?"
Kagami was mildly surprised at hearing something akin to hospitality leaving Aomine's mouth. The only explanation that he could come up with was that Aomine's parents had probably trained him to deal with guests.
"Sure. Got any soda?"
Aomine nodded and walked out of the room.
Kagami walked over and sat down in the middle of the couch. It was really soft. No wonder Aomine liked this place.
His jaw ached as a huge yawn forced its way out of his mouth. The horrible sleep he had been subject to was creeping back to bite him.
The softness of the couch, the exhaustion and the warm, comforting smell in the room seemed to wrap around him. It was impossible to keep his eyes open. His head dropped backwards and rested against the back of the couch, the rest of his body following its example and going limp.
He was so tired.
Aomine walked into the kitchen and rummaged around in the fridge for the lime soda he knew was buried somewhere inside.
He was an idiot and he should know better. After discovering Kagami on his doorstep, the landline had rung. Aomine had picked it up, only to be confronted by Kuroko's voice flatly proclaiming the impossible.
'Good morning Aomine-kun.'
'Yo, Tetsu.'
'I was just calling to say that I intend to confess my undying love to Kagami-kun today. Would you happen to know if he is currently at home?'
'What?! T-Testu?!'
'Ah, well even if that is not the case I shall just wait outside his apartment until he arrives. Goodbye.'
Then the line went dead, leaving a very confused, flustered and panicked Aomine on one end and a smug Kuroko with a job well done on the other.
Aomine had barely processed the information before he charged towards the door and dragged Kagami inside to ensure he wouldn't go home anytime soon.
Looking back on it, he should have recognized to hint of mirth in Kuroko's voice.
He had fallen for it, hook, line and sinker.
Aomine finally found the lime soda and grabbed two cans of the stuff, pouring them into glasses with ice to chill the liquid further. He walked back to the sitting room where he had left Kagami.
He wasn't sure what he expected to find, but it sure as hell wasn't Kagami Taiga blissfully asleep on his couch, looking completely relaxed and comfortable.
He made sure not to make too much noise as he walked over and gently placed the glasses on the coffee table.
Aomine slowly sat down on the left side of the couch, it was his favourite spot, and did his best not to alert Kagami to his presence. He was unaware that he had no reason to worry. Kagami was out cold.
Aomine sat there and pondered his options while staring at Kagami's face.
Well, he tried to.
He noticed rather quickly that he couldn't hold onto a single thought while he stared. Kagami's face was different, but no less appealing when he was asleep. All of the tension in his face disappeared and he looked peaceful.
It was really strange.
Peaceful wasn't exactly an emotion that one normally associated with Kagami.
Hotheaded or stubborn yes, but peaceful?
He suppressed a laugh as he imagined Kagami in priest's clothing.
Aomine slipped his cell phone out of his pocket and snapped a picture.
Kagami would murder him if it was discovered, but who cares.
Aomine put away his phone, with its lovely new addition, and pondered what he could do.
Bored, he debated getting out a marker for obvious reasons, but decided against it. He settled for rearranging himself on the couch so that his back was against the armrest and his legs stretched out over Kagami's lap.
Aomine turned on the television to some random comedy show and settled in, only half his attention on the screen. The other half was focused on listening to the slow rhythm of Kagami's breathing.
Kagami woke up slowly, his entire head felt like someone had stuffed cotton inside it and blocked out the world around him. He blinked his eyes until his bleary vision started to clear.
He felt unusually rested.
He looked around and embarrassment flooded his features as he realized where he was.
"You sleep like a log."
Kagami turned his head to see Aomine comfortably stretched out next to him watching television.
"My legs are numb."
Kagami's voice was deeper than usual, like it usually sounded first thing in the morning.
He glimpsed a shiver run through Aomine as he spoke.
So he likes my voice, huh…
Aomine quickly removed his legs from Kagami's lap.
"Wanna get some food? It's probably time to fill that void of yours."
Kagami's face lit up at the prospect. He was really hungry.
After ordering some food, Aomine left Kagami in the sitting room and went up to his bedroom under the guise of grabbing a few magazines.
Reality was slightly different.
As soon as the door was shut behind him, he pressed his back against it and sank down to the floor.
The blush he had been fighting exploded across his face with a vengeance. His forehead probably could've fried an egg.
He sat there until the feelings worked their way out of his system and grabbed a few magazines before heading back to the sitting room.
After eating, watching Kagami eat more than he though was physically possible, and squabbling over who got the good leftovers, Aomine watched as Kagami pulled on his shoes and jacket.
"See you whenever, Aomine."
"Yeah."
Kagami put his hand on the doorknob, then stopped. He turned around and took a step closer to Aomine, bringing himself so that they were almost toe-to-toe. Aomine froze.
What?
Did he forget something?
Oh shit is he still angry about yesterday?
Without warning, Kagami grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled Aomine closer. Aomine's attempt to voice his confusion was thwarted as lips smashed into his own.
Instinctively, despite his shock, his eyes slid shut and the rest of his body shivered as it locked into place.
After the initial, jarring impact, the lips on his became softer, more hesitant.
The sensation was strange but pleasant.
It was really soft and warm.
Kagami pressed forward once more, then pulled his face back, breaking the connection.
Aomine opened his eyes and saw Kagami's face slowly turning the same outrageous shade as his hair. Kagami stared straight at him, then released his shirt and stepped back towards the door.
"Well then, see you."
"Y-yeah…?"
He barely recognized his own voice. His mind was flying in a million directions at once and he felt like he was floating.
Kagami opened the door and walked out, carefully closing it behind him.
When it had shut, Aomine legs finally gave out as his mind rebooted and informed him exactly what had just taken place. He sat down hard and stared at the door, completely lost.
What the hell was that?
It was only when he looked down that he noticed his entire body was shaking.
