Kagami's face practically steamed as he marched down the road to his apartment.
What the hell was that?!
He cursed his impulsive act more with every step he took.
He was so confused.
Seeing Aomine look upset because Kagami had to leave was the finishing blow to an urge that had been steadily building. It was like a bug bite that demanded to be scratched. Now that he had done it, the feeling stayed and the urge grew stronger.
Kagami rubbed his mouth with the back of his hand, trying to get rid of the lingering sensation.
It was useless.
He could still feel every detail of the moment.
His lips twitched upwards in a small smile.
Aomine really needed to get himself a lip balm.
His lips had felt rough and dry, almost like they weren't actually his skin, but they had quickly flushed with heat, making them warmer and a little softer.
Kagami scratched at his cheek as another detail rose to mind. Though his own eyes had been closed from the start, he had felt the exact moment when Aomine had mimicked the action. The memory of that light flutter of eyelashes on his skin sent a warm shiver through his body.
As he relived the kiss over and over in his mind, Kagami was unaware of the idiotic grin that was plastered on his face.
Aomine sat in the entryway for a good half hour before his brain started to function again.
He couldn't believe it.
Kagami had kissed him.
It was only that morning that Kagami had, miraculously, agreed to go out with him yet it felt like years had passed. As he stood up, Aomine's legs wobbled dangerously. He took a deep breath to calm himself down before he attempted anything else.
He was still shocked.
He never would have expected Kagami to make a move.
It seemed like there was still a lot that he didn't know about Kagami's personality.
The thought pissed him off enough that he regained most of his senses, though he was still dazed. Aomine checked the time on his phone.
It was late enough.
First a bath, then off to bed.
He made his way to the bathroom and stripped down, leaving his clothes in a pile on the floor.
The bath was already heated up so he set to work shampooing his hair and scrubbing the rest of his body. He was a little regretful as he rubbed the product in his hair to a lather, the familiar smell spreading through the room. He had liked the smell of Kagami's shampoo.
For a moment he toyed with the idea of getting the same one, then dismissed it.
It would be bad if he got seriously aroused when he was supposed to be making himself clean.
Another problem was how he'd have to deal with Satsuki's questions on why he smelled different. He had used the exact same shampoo for as long as he could remember. She was pretty damn observant and it wouldn't take long before she figured out that it was the same type Kagami used.
He gave himself a mental slap as a rather uncomfortable though surfaced.
That woman was so good at reading him she probably knew about his attraction to Kagami before Aomine himself had realized.
He finished washing and climbed into the tub, letting out a groan of pleasure as he slid into the hot water.
It felt so nice!
Normally, he would skip baths in favour of a simple shower, but he was glad that he hadn't tonight. It was pure bliss.
Or it would have been had his mind calmed down.
He was still replaying that kiss, over and over again.
Would it ever stop?
Time passed until it was Wednesday evening. Kagami pushed through the doors to Maji Burger. He was starving after practice and needed something, anything, to tie him over until he could get home. He walked up to the counter and ordered his usual mound of hamburgers and a soda.
He ignored the usual stares of confusion from the other customers and grabbed his tray.
Kagami walked over and sat down at his usual seat, being extra careful that there was no one already sitting there. Kuroko seemed to enjoy surprising him that way.
He started munching and stared out the window.
When he finished his fifth burger, something outside caught his eye.
Make that someone.
Aomine.
Aomine wondered for the millionth time what he was doing.
For the millionth time, he pondered leaving.
For the millionth time, he stayed put.
He was definitely an idiot.
Aomine leaned back against the bench he was sitting on. He had made his way over to Maji Buger after practice and sat down on a bench that allowed him to watch the door.
He knew it was Kagami's favourite place to eat after playing.
He had no idea whether or not Kagami would actually be there.
Aomine almost jumped when he saw the door open and Kagami himself walk out, a large bag in one arm.
No way.
He was actually here.
This was almost too predictable.
Aomine grinned, then froze.
Kagami was walking right towards him.
Oh shit.
Seeing Kagami's face brought the memory of that kiss a few days ago to the forefront of his mind.
His face heated up as a heavy blush exploded across his face.
Aomine did the first thing that came to mind.
He hid.
Kagami walked over to the bench he had seen Aomine sitting on, the rest of his meal in a takeout bag.
Strangely, the bench was completely empty.
That's weird.
He was definitely here a second ago.
Kagami looked around and saw nothing. Aomine was gone.
"Aomine?!"
He tried calling out, and was promptly embarrassed when there was no reply. Kagami frowned.
He looked around for a few more minutes before he noticed a basketball lying on the bench, seemingly abandoned.
He snorted.
The ball had 'Daiki's' written on it in permanent marker.
Upon seeing that, it didn't take him long to piece together where Aomine was. Kagami grabbed the ball and started walking home, a smirk on his face.
If Aomine was going to run away from him, he'd just have to dangle some bait. Aomine wouldn't just leave his basketball in someone else's hands for long.
After Kagami left, Aomine walked back to the bench and cursed loudly.
His ball was gone and he knew exactly who had taken it.
Kagami may be a dense idiot, but he was surprisingly good at noticing small things. He just tended to miss the big picture.
As Aomine walked home, he repeatedly cursed himself for even thinking that trying to time a 'surprise' meet up with Kagami was a good idea.
What was he, a lovestruck maiden in a dating sim?
Without any warning, it started raining. Aomine was instantly soaked to the skin.
His cursing now directed to the horrible weather, Aomine took off at a run. Even running the whole way would still take him half an hour and he had no umbrella.
Today just wasn't his day.
Kagami was sitting at the usual court, waiting for Aomine, who was late.
As usual.
There had only been about two occasions when he had miraculously arrived on time.
Kagami twirled the ball on his fingertip and waited.
And waited.
Then waited some more.
He checked his phone and was startled at the time.
Aomine was over an hour late.
Kagami frowned. Even for Aomine this was odd.
Pressing the call button, Kagami held the phone to his ear and waited.
After a few rings, a decidedly sleepy voice answered.
"Whaddaya want…"
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Hah?"
"Did you just wake up Ahomine?!"
"Ah? Go away… Sleepy…"
"GET YOUR LAZY ASS OVER HERE AHOMINE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF."
"Jeez, no need to yell. I just woke up…"
"You know what, just forget it. I'm going home."
"Ah? Hey who is this anywa–!"
Kagami hung up before he heard Aomine's reply.
That idiot.
He felt downright pissed.
He stared at the basketball next to him, then picked it up and flung it at the net on the other side of the court.
As it bounced off the backboard, he felt the urge to run and play kick start his muscles.
Kagami was never one to ignore what he wanted.
He jumped up and chased after the ball. A good bout of exercise would make him forget this annoyance.
Aomine stared at his phone, head pounding. It took him a few minutes before he realized it had been Kagami on the other end.
He looked at the time and frowned. It was already past their meeting time.
He stood up, almost falling from a bout of nausea, and pulled on his clothes.
He had to get to the court.
Kagami would be angry if he was any later than he already was.
His entire body ached as he fumbled with his shirt. It took him a few tries to get it on right.
After dressing, he took a minute and caught his breath.
He was sweating like crazy.
What was wrong with him?
He wiped his forehead and stood up.
He was probably still half asleep.
Yeah.
That must be it.
Aomine stumbled his way out of the house and started to head to the court.
The sunlight beat down and made his headache grow even worse. He trudged slowly down the sidewalk.
When he finally reached the court, after what felt like an endless trek across the Sahara desert, he was greeted to the welcome sight of a grinning Kagami Taiga dunking a ball into the hoop.
When Kagami landed and grabbed the ball, he noticed he wasn't alone.
"Oi! Aomine!"
His look of fury changed to one of concern as he started walking over.
Concern?
Why?
Aomine was about to raise a hand in greeting when he realized that his vision was starting to turn dark.
His head felt like someone stuffed wads of cotton into both ears.
What the hell?!
Spots appeared everywhere and his eyes flew open in panic, trying to see something, anything.
"Oi!"
He could hear Kagami start running, his voice panicked.
He was terrified.
He couldn't see anything.
What was happening?!
"Aomine!"
It was Kagami's voice.
He sounded so far away.
Why was he so far?
Aomine wanted to reach out towards his voice, but he didn't know how. He didn't know where his arms were, much less how to move them.
The dizziness he had been feeling since he woke up suddenly got worse.
He felt something painfully solid slam into his knees and into his face with a vicious force.
Then there was nothing.
