Chapter 8

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated but I have given you all the back ground and now the real story can start. Please comment I want to know your ideas.

They ran for their lives as the base blew up behind them. They got in the doors of the TARDIS and enjoyed a group hug before Katie spoke up "I am going to catch up on my sleep I seem to be missing quite a bit." She smiled then with a two fingered wave she walked out. Instead of going to her bedroom she headed to the library. She sat down and picked up a journal. She wrote telling a story only half in words. The pages were covered with words and pictures. The story was one of young love the two got separated and a new journey began for both of them. The pictures were first class and the way it was written was enough to get anybody excited, but it held a hint of sadness. No matter how you looked at it, it was a tragedy except for the hope of a happy ending.

Katie soon spaced out from her writing because while she filled in what had happened on her latest adventure she still wondered what was happening to the man she loved. Sometimes when she was between the worlds of sleeping and awake, she could feel him. It was the oddest thing she felt as if his heart stopped and he died but then he breathed and was alive again. Sometimes she thought she saw him or heard his voice she was wrong he wasn't there but that didn't stop her from thinking it.

As she sat there in the library with her journal about to fall from her hands the doctor came in. "Hey I thought you were going to go catch up on some sleep." He said with a smile. She tried to smile back but only managed a half smile. "I came here to read some when I couldn't get to sleep." "Oh, what book did you find?" He nodded at the one so precariously balanced in her hands. She quickly tightened her grip so it wouldn't fall. "Just my journal." "Oho so the mystery girl writes her secret down does she." Katie snorted. "I am not much of a mystery you just never ask any questions." He realized that she was right. "Well can I see your journal?" "Sure." She handed it to him. He glanced at the first page and for the first time she saw how fast he read. "You are an amazing writer. I have not seen a writer as good as you for a good long time." He praised but before he could turn the page Rose stepped in and asked "What do you want for dinner tonight." Katie requested hamburgers while the Doctor wanted cookies and Rose said that cookies were dessert not dinner. Katie just shook her head at their banter and the TARDIS flashed her lights.

The Doctor looked up and said "What was that." The lights flashed again. "No we're not. What are you going on about?" The lights flashed and dimmed but grew bright when Katie toned in. "Leave them alone, I'm fine." Rose looked really confused so Katie explained. "She thinks you two leave me out but if I wanted to join in I could and I know that but she overlooked that little fact." Rose looked at Katie and said "but the TARDIS is right we do leave you out." She felt really bad and it showed on her face. Katie smiled a quiet, accepting smile and replied. "It's more like I exclude myself besides I have fun watching you two bicker like that". The Doctor didn't look very convinced and he argued. "But isn't it more fun to participate in things that you enjoy than to watch a couple exchange banter." "The only thing that I really want to do is quite impossible so I will watch and enjoy because you two actually bring joy to my life, whether or not you believe that." "Why don't we go out to dinner then, you can pick where Katie." "Alright Crown Burger in Salt Lake UT." "Why there, anything special about there?" Rose asked. "I went there after at least one doctor's appointment. Plus it has an amazing view of the temple." They headed together to the console room and Katie helped the Doctor set in the right coordinates so that they could get there properly.

It was a wonderful dinner and they traded stories around the table while they ate. Katie heard the story of the ghosts and the Doctor heard the story about Rome. "Oh come on you must have a better story than that." The Doctor said and Katie, ever one to rise to a challenge replied with "You asked for it." Then she proceeded to tell a very different story.

"Let's see 8 years ago I had just returned to my family as I had been gone for at least a month and a half. I was terrified; I couldn't tell my dad what was wrong with me because he would be angry. Not with me but still I just couldn't tell him. So I left a note on the counter early one morning grabbed my bag and left. I went to a hotel, paid enough for three months stay and sat down to figure out what I could do. I didn't have enough money to go to the hospital and all I knew was I wanted to get away. I stood with that thought and all of a sudden I was traveling through a wormhole kind of tunnel. Then just as suddenly I stood in an office type room and the man on the other side of the desk demanded to know where I had come from.

"I raised my hand and fainted. When I woke up I was in a comfortable bed in a hospital wing. The doctor bustled over and told me that I was going to be fine, both me and my baby. I smiled then passed out again. When I woke up the women in the bed next to me began talking to me. She asked of my past and how I had got here. I spoke truthfully and she believed me. The man who had been in the office came in to visit later and I found out that he was the king of this place and the woman was the queen. They welcomed me and two weeks later the queen died of a previous illness.

"The king took me in and two week s after the death of the queen I gave birth." I smiled as I recalled this. "She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I named her JoeMarie. When was six months old the king asked me to marry him. I denied saying there was another at my home whom I loved. Again when JoeMarie was two he asked I gave the same answer and begged him to take care of JoeMarie so I could find the one I loved. He instantly agreed and I left after only one more week. I appeared in the hotel room two and a half months since I left. I went home then moved out and scoured the world for any sign of the one I loved. I could not find him. But I know that someday even if I die first I will see him again."

After my story Rose spoke quickly. "Are you telling the truth, you really are a mother?" I nodded "She is eight years old now." "Well why don't we go to that planet." The Doctor chimed in. "We can't Plemun was destroyed. Jo is still out there but not where I can find her." He reached across the table and touched my hand. "I'm sorry." I looked at him and said. "It's alright; At least I know that she is alive. That in and of itself is a great comfort to me. And with the action you two bring to my life I hardly ever have time to miss her or him."

"Who is the Dad?" Rose wanted to know. My jaw tightened "someone I hope never to meet again." "It wasn't your choice was it?" The Doctor asked "No I had a choice in the matter but I couldn't do what they wanted so I paid the price." "What did they want?" came the immediate response. "They wanted him. They asked if I knew him, where he was, his name, all kinds of stuff but I couldn't give him up they could have put me on the doorstep of death and I wouldn't have told them anything. He is more precious than my life and I love him dearly." We finished our meal in silence and then we headed back to the TARDIS.
