Draco was pretty much using Ginny as a human shield as Ron continued to yell and swear while moving his wand around to try and get a clear shot at the boy hiding behind his sister. The twins looked angry to see Malfoy and had gones for their wands as well while Harry and Hermione were both surprised. Everyone else in the room looked confused as to what was going on as Bill tried to calm his youngest brother.
"We can't explain unless you shut up!" Ginny finally yelled, Draco still behind her.
"Why did your bring him here! What the hell were you thinking-"
'Silencio!'
Bill finally used a spell to quiet him before forcing Ron back down into his seat. Arthur and Molly both approached their daughter. They tried to get her to come to them but Draco refused to let Ginny away from him out of fear of being hexed by multiple curses.
"Ginny, what's going on?"
"This was a mistake." Draco muttered, still not believing Ginny had convinced him to come only to get a elbow in the gut in return, not hard but enough to feel it.
"Draco is in trouble." Ginny explained. "His father wants him to start training to be a death eater. He doesn't want to do it."
"So what does that have to do with us?" Fred questioned.
"He's my…friend."
"Since when?" George spoke, certainly surprised by that statement.
"Not long, but we can't just turn him away. He needs help."
Ron tried to yell out 'the hell we can't' as Harry and Hermione glanced at each other knowing that Ginny had some involvement with Malfoy, they had seen their kiss along with the rest of the school. Harry looked indifferent, like he really didn't care. He had too much to worry about to continue on a school feud with Malfoy, while the other Order members were looking at each other, waiting for someone to voice an opinion. Without Dumbledore, they were pretty much leaderless at the moment and didn't know how to proceed.
Tonks too was quiet as she could tell that the others didn't trust Draco, likely do to who his father was. She really didn't either but Draco was still technically her cousin even if she really didn't know him. She wanted to at least give him a chance, and Ginny seemed adamant about it.
"Why don't we use veritasium?" Tonks finally said. "See if he's telling the truth? You have some on you, don't you Moody?"
Moody nodded and the Order members seemed satisfied by her suggestion but the young Malfoy began shaking his head.
"No." Draco refused. "I won't do that."
"Then you have to leave."
Draco then looked down at Ginny who finally pulled herself from him and spun around to face him, looking at him as if to say 'do it'. Lupin extended his arm towards the chair.
"Have a seat, Mr. Malfoy."
Taking a deep breath, Draco did as he was told before Moody came over and placed a drop of the truth serum on his tongue. He then closed his eyes as Tonks sat in front of him and asked the first question.
"Is your name Draco Malfoy?"
"Yes."
"Does your father want you to be a death eater?"
"Yes."
"Do you want to be one?"
"No."
"Why not?"
Draco squirmed a little before answering.
"Because I don't want to hurt anyone. I'm not a killer."
His answer surprised everyone, especially those who had dealt with him over the years as they glanced at each other. Draco didn't eleborate any further so Tonks asked her next question.
"Are you a spy?"
"No."
"Are you here to hurt any of us?"
"No."
"Why are you with Ginny?"
"She's different…she's a challenge for me unlike most girls. And she could be so hot if she wanted to be."
Ginny couldn't help but blush by his answer while Ron turned red for completely different reasons. Draco slowly opened his eyes and stared down at the table hoping that was the end of it while Tonks didn't have anymore questions she thought were relevant as she looked around and settled her gaze on Kingsley who nodded.
"Ginny, would you like to show Mr. Malfoy a room for now?"
"You have to be kidding me!" Ron yelled, the silencing spell worn off. "Just like that? You can't let that-"
Draco couldn't help but smile a little as Ron finished with a curse and immediately got disciplined by his mother for it. Ginny had taken his hand and was leading him up the stairs to the room she normally used when here as Draco then joked;
"You need to tell your brother to relax, he's going to bust a blood-vessel."
Ron finally managed to stop himself as he rested his forehead against the table, still not believing his was happening. Arthur and Molly looked a little weary, probably wishing her daughter was not involved with Malfoy in any way despite the answers he had just given.
"What do you think about this, Harry?" Kingsley then asked.
"About Malfoy?" Harry questioned. "I don't know, does it really matter? I think we have bigger problems to worry about."
"If he tries anything-" Ron began.
"He'd be stupid." Bill finished. He had never even met Malfoy before so he really didn't feel strongly one way or another about him being here. "I don't think he's up to anything, he's probably scared just like all of us."
"Do you really think he'll fight for our side?" Fred asked and the scoffed. "He probably just wants a hiding place while both sides go out and kill each other than he'll jump on the winning team when it's all over."
"Let's get back to business." Kingsley stated. "We'll start moving aurors into Hogwarts and prepare some more defense spells around the castle just in case the Dark Lord attacks. The school is protected by a shield but it can be penetrated by a strong enough spell done by a strong enough wizard."
"What about the ministry?" Moody then asked. "Should we keep working with them? What if they have spies for him? What if-"
"Percy Weasley is a death eater." Harry spat out before looking at his hands. He was not looking forward to this and figured just flat-out saying it would be better than dragging it out. The rest of the room was silence after that. You could only hear the faint sounds of everyone breathing. Harry slowly looked up at the faces of Fred, George, and Ron. They were expressionless, Bill looked confused as if he hadn't heard correctly, Harry was afraid to look over at Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.
"What did you say, Harry?" Arthur then asked, his voice low and shaky. Molly on the other hand looked horrified. Harry felt his heart rate pick up, he really didn't want to do this but he had too.
"Percy was with them that night." He further explained. "I think he may have helped them get into Hogwarts."
Molly covered her mouth with her hand as Arthur swallowed a knot in his throat.
"You're saying Percy helped kill Dumbledore?" Bill spoke in a tone of complete disbelief.
"Yes."
A cry then was let out by Molly as Arthur quickly grabbed her in a tight embrace and she began to sob heavily on his shoulder. The Weasley boys all looked at their mother feeling helpless. They wanted to say or do something to stop her crying but there was nothing they could do.
"That son-of-a-bitch." Fred said to himself in a low, dangerous tone before getting up so quick his chair tipped over and he left the room.
George didn't know how to react to the news, his eyes kept wandering around the room as if he was looking for something. He finally got up and went after his twin. Ron's face had gone white, the complete opposite of how he was when he saw Malfoy. He knew that Percy was at the school that day, but never imagined he was somehow involved in what happened with Dumbledore.
"It doesn't make sense." Ron finally said, loud enough for everyone to hear. "Percy got the best grades in class…he was head boy…he works for the minister. He's never broken one rule, not ever…he wouldn't…"
"It has to be something else." Bill continued. "The Imperius curse, something."
"That's it!" Molly then yelled. "Somebody got to him! My son would never…" She trailed off as she looked desperately up at her husband who now had tears falling from his eyes as well.
Harry shook his head. He hated to dash the last hopes of the family but from what he had heard Percy say to Dumbledore, he was doing it on his own.
"No, he's not under a curse. He blamed Dumbledore for his problems with all of you. He said that you all chose me over him. It was really him, really his words."
He trailed off and shook his head.
"I'm sorry."
Arthur listened as he continued to hold his wife. That was ridiculous, as much as Harry had become almost like part of the family he could never take the place of his own son. He loved him, he loved all his children equally. But he wondered if Percy knew that…
"This is all my fault." He finally spoke. "If I hadn't of fought with him that night…I drove him away."
He shook his head as more tears began to flow and he held his wife tighter. Bill had leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table and his fingers forming a steeple at his chin, a far away look in his eyes.
Ron still had no idea how to react, he just looked lost, like this wasn't even real. Finally, the door to the kitchen opened again as Ginny came in, a look of confusion on her face.
"Guys, I can hear Fred cussing and crying in the room next to mine. George is trying to calm him down…what's wrong?"
She then looked over at her parents and saw them holding each other and crying and immediately got scared. By this time Bill was on his feet and over by her, taking her hand and gently leading her out of the room to let her know of the awful news.
