So this is a lot later than I was planning to update this month, but my mac, that I normally do all my writing and drawing and stuff on decided it wanted a new battery and the closest Apple store is 45 minutes away so it's not going to get fixed till next week. In the mean time I have been going a little crazy because paper just doesn't cut it for drawing anymore, I'm afraid. Not the kind of drawing I do for fun at least. So I have pretty much been without a creative outlet for a few weeks now. I finally decided to just suck it up and write this using fanfic's document editor. So there might be more spelling and grammar mistakes than normal because it doesn't pick them up as well as Word does. Anyways, this took a while and I'm not quite sure I like how it turned out, but it's the longest I've written for this so far, clocking in at 5,997 words. So I hope this makes up for not having anything else for a while. Merry Christmas! Or whatever other holiday you happen to celebrate. Just enjoy the break and your family and friends.
Roxas was nervous.
Not only was this Axel's first real Christmas, this was also the first time he would officially meet all of Roxas's family.
Roxas wasn't exactly nervous about the fact that he was bringing home a man because his older brother Sora had been dating his best friend Riku for years now, and his parents were... pretty okay with that. But Roxas had never exactly come out to his family. His siblings knew of course, and he was pretty sure his parents knew... He just never came out and said it before.
And now... well it would be a little hard to dance around the subject when he walked into his parents house with Axel's hand in his, fully expecting to share his old room together for the next week for the holiday.
Oh boy.
Axel reached over to rub circles in Roxas's knee when he noticed the blond's too tight grip on the steering wheel. "Relax, babe. Things will be fine." Axel assured him. "Remember, I can charm the pants off of anyone, every my lovely boyfriend's stubborn father." He grinned.
"Ew, gross. That was not the image I needed in my head. You getting my dad's pants off? Blech." Roxas grimaced.
Axel laughed lightly, "You know that was not what I meant. I only have interest in getting pants off of one blond, and he happens to be sitting next to me in this very car."
Roxas smiled softly. "Sorry to tell you this, but I think for the next week my pants are going to stay firmly on."
"Sounds like a pretty uncomfortable shower experience."
"We are not having sex in my childhood bathroom, nor my childhood bed, nor my parents couch or home in general." Roxas firmly stated.
Axel was quiet for a moment. "What about your parents driveway?"
"Axel." Roxas whined, half laughing.
"All right, all right. But if I knew we were going celibate for a week, I would have gone for seconds and thirds last night." Axel pouted over dramatically.
"What are we, horny teenagers? You can't even go a week without sex without complaining? I thought I was dating a man, not a boy." Roxas knew that would get a good reaction out of Axel.
"Excuse me! I am plenty man, thank you very much. It is the man inside me that hungers for carnal relations with my mate."
"Carnal relations? And never refer to me as your mate." Roxas shot Axel a disgusted look, which just made Axel laugh.
"Well, anyways, you need to stop worrying about your parents. Everything will go just fine, Roxas."
They were quiet for the last twenty minutes of the drive, Roxas trying to focus on the snow covered roads and not the hand kneeding his knee, whileAxel watched the snow drenched trees pass by out the window, pretending he was completely innocent. Finally they pulled up in front of the old four bedroom home that Roxas grew up in, five other cars already in the large driveway. Stepping out of the car, Roxas grabbed the extra bag while Axel grabbed the suitcase and bag of gifts before heading right to the front door.
The stained glass window-ed door opened to a small front room, a mat for wet shoes and hangers for coats on one side, while the other held a small bench to sit and tie your shoes at. After hanging up their coats and removing their shoes, they headed through the doorway into the living room.
As soon as he stepped into the room, six heads shot up to see who it was.
There was a chorus of "Roxas!" while the brunette woman on the couch shot up to wrap him in her arms.
"Oh, my baby boy is home!" She held him tight, rubbing her face in his shoulder.
"Moooom." Roxas whined.
"Tifa." A deeper voice from the living room called. "Let the young man breathe." Roxas thanked God his father was saving him.
Tifa huffed as she pulled away. "I'm just so excited so see all my babies back home, don't you understand, Cloud?"
"Of course, I'm excited too, but what good does that do if you suffocate one of them?" Cloud's voice held slight amusement. "Besides, I believe Roxas has someone he needs to introduce to us?" And here is where Roxas dies from nerves.
"Oh right! I'm so excited to meet this mysterious person you have told us nothing about!" Tifa exclaimed, stepping back so Roxas could move out of the doorway.
"Well..." Roxas started awkwardly while Axel finally stepped into the room, "This is Axel." Roxas gestured towards him while Axel waved with a slightly nervous smile. "My boyfriend."
The room was silent for a moment, almost everyone's eyes on Axel who was barely shifting from foot to foot, trying to hide how nervous he suddenly was. Roxas was watching his parents face, mostly his father's. He knew that his mother, Tifa, didn't care who her children were attracted to as long as they were good people that would treat them right, but his father was a little uncomfortable with it still. When Sora came out and brought home his best friend, Riku, and introduced him as his boyfriend for the first time, Tifa welcomed Riku to the family with open arms. Cloud, on the other hand, looked uncomfortable and unsure, like he didn't know how to take the information or how to act.
Cloud eventually came around with Riku. After all, he had known Riku since he was in diapers, when he and Sora were getting into trouble before they even knew what trouble was. Riku was practically his son already, always attached to Sora at the hip. Now they just did... other things together that Cloud preferred not to think about too much.
The silence continued and Axel looked across the room to see Sora and Riku snuggled together on the loveseat against the wall. Riku gave him a reassuring smile. Axel had been relieved when he heard that Riku would also be there the entire week as he was one of Axel's oldest friends. Riku was actually who introduced Roxas and Axel in the first place, somehow knowing they would hit it off and mesh well together.
And they did. They started dating about a year and a half before, moving in together in the beginning of August.
Finally someone spoke.
"Well, it's great to meet you Axel." Tifa said, pulling Axel down into a light hug. "How long have you two been dating?"
"Um, about a year and a half." Axel replied, returning to his full height after getting out of the hug with the shorter woman, scratching at the back of his neck, his most obvious nervous habit.
Tifa quickly turned to her youngest son. "And you are just now deciding to introduce us? Or even tell us you are dating someone?"
"Well I- uh..." Roxas floundered slightly. "You know I don't like talking about relationships. And I didn't want to make a big deal about it if... things didn't work out."
Tifa huffed again, "Well come in so everyone can get introduced." She waved them further into the room while she went back to her seat beside her husband.
The two stepped a little farther into the room, choosing to finish introductions before taking a seat. "Well, like I said, this is Axel." Roxas waved toward him. "Axel, this is my younger sister, Namine." He pointed to the small blonde curled up in an arm chair with a sketchbook, big blue eyes looking up at Axel curiously. "She's the youngest at sixteen. On the couch is my twin, Ventus." Axel had seen pictures of Roxas with his twin, but it was different from meeting him in person. Besides slight differences, he looked exactly like Roxas. It was a little jarring. "You already know Sora and Riku. And this is my mom Tifa, who assaulted me when we first got here, and my dad Cloud."
Axel nodded his head politely, "It's a pleasure to meet you all." Axel was a little wary of Cloud. He looked rather similar to Roxas and his twin, with spiky blond hair, bright blue eyes, and a soft face. But where Roxas was slight and almost looked fail - although Axel found out the hard way he was anything but - his father was muscular and somewhat intimidating, with a colder look in his eyes. He looked Axel up and down, sizing him up, which made Axel shift on his feet again.
Roxas carefully tugged Axel over to the couch, sitting in middle so Axel was on one side and his twin was on the other.
"Thanks for bringing him along, Rox." Ventus whispered to his twin. "Distracts mom and dad from that class I failed last semester." He grinned.
"I'm glad my misery is helping you out here." Roxas grumbled.
"Oh, common. It's not that bad. Mom already likes him, and I bet dad will warm up to him soon enough." Ventus assured him.
"I sure hope so."
Conversation before dinner was minimal. Mostly just about the trip up there, the weather, the scores of the most recent games. Finally Tifa informed everyone that dinner was ready, Namine helping her bring the food to the table. They were having a simple pasta dinner to start out the week, with a light salad Roxas knew Namine had put together.
A few minutes into the dinner, Roxas's father broke the silence.
"Tell me about yourself, Axel." It was hardly a request. Much more a demand.
Axel sipped from his water to clear his throat, "Well I'm twenty-six and I am an explosives engineer. I know how to handle and properly use all forms of explosives, but I am trying to get into the experimental department."
"Explosives, huh?" Cloud seemed somewhat impressed, if not a little nervous.
"Axel's a pryo." Sora supplied.
"A responsible pyro." Roxas argued.
Riku snorted. "Mostly responsible. Now."
"Hey, hey. I only set your kitchen on fire once, and it was an accident." Axel chuckled. "Really, I'm well trained in explosives safety. Nothing i blow up now is on accident, and it's always perfectly safe."
"Axel made some special fireworks for Halloween this year. Everyone in the neighborhood really enjoyed them." Roxas said with some pride in his voice.
"So how did you two meet?" Tifa asked.
"Well, Riku and I have actually been in class together since we were really little. He was the one that introduced me to both Sora and Roxas." Axel explained, grabbing another slice of garlic bread for himself. "We just hung out as friends for a few months before we started dating."
"Ooh, that's good. Friendships are a great base for a relationship. So how did you ask him out? And where too?" Tifa asked, getting a little too excited.
Axel chuckled while Roxas groaned and sunk into his seat a little bit. "Well it was actually Roxas that asked me, and he didn't really ask either. More like he told me we were going out somewhere on a date." Axel grinned widely at the memory. "We just went out for dinner, then had some ice cream on the pier, watching the sun set."
Tifa let out a light squeal, Namine hid a soft smile, and Ventus grinned and nudged Roxas with his elbow. "Oh, I always knew my little boy was a romantic." Tifa sighed.
"Mooooom."
"Yes, he's a closet case romantic." Axel smiled.
"And you're a closet case douche bag. Without the closet." Roxas grumbled mostly under his breath.
"Hey now, you wouldn't really love a douche bag, would you?" Axel teased. Roxas noticed out of the corner of his eye that his dad stiffened slightly at that word. Love. He wasn't sure how he felt about his son being in love with another man.
The rest of dinner went mostly smoothly, outside of bickering between Roxas and his twin, but that was normal. And Axel seemed to enjoy it.
"I must admit, it's kind of hot watching you argue like that with someone who looks exactly like you." Axel wrapped his arms around Roxas's waist from behind while Roxas was trying to unpack some things. They ended up in the newly finished basement instead of his old room because Ventus complained about how weird it would be to sleep in the same room as his brother and his boyfriend. And luckily, his parents hadn't suggested that Axel sleep alone. So they went down to the basement and everyone else went to their own rooms, Ventus in his and Roxas's old room, and Sora and Riku into the lone brunet child's old room.
"Down boy. Just because we are in the basement instead of my old room does not mean we are having sex tonight. We are still in the same house as my parents and my baby sister." Roxas knocked Axel's hands away as he continued to remove the clothes to make them more accessible for the week.
"Oh come on. They are two floors away. And you're not that loud. They'll never know." Axel whined.
"I'll let that loud comment go for now, but it doesn't matter anyways. I will know, and that is all that matters."
"You really know how to bring a man down, Rox." Axel grumbled, flopping down on the bed. Roxas had never been more appreciative of his parents for making part of the basement a spare bedroom. He sighed again, "At least today wasn't a train wreak. Your mom seems to like me at least."
"She likes anyone that make her 'precious babies' happy." Roxas sighed. "And Ventus is just happy to have a reason to mess with me. Namine is a lot like my mom, just happy to see everyone else happy. It's my dad you really have to win over."
"Yeah, I see where you get that cold stare from now." Axel rolled to avoid the pair of socks Roxas threw his way, taking the opportunity to snuggle into the soft sheets. "Anyways, I don't think he hates me, so that's a start." Roxas was silent as he put away the last of the clothes. "You still worried about what he thinks of you being gay?"
"Of course I am." Roxas sighed, flopping back to lay beside Axel, who wrapped him arms around him, pulling the blond against him. "He always looked happiest when I told him about the girls I dated. He would ask me all about them and talk about what it might be like if we got married. I can't help but think that he always looked to me to continue the family name. Ventus has never been the relationship kind of guy, Sora's gayer than gay, and Namine... well I don't even want to think about Namine ever being with someone like that. I can't help but feel like I'm letting him down." Roxas groaned, covering his eyes with his arms. Axel couldn't really say anything because he didn't know Roxas's father, so he chose instead to simply pull Roxas closer to him for the night.
They woke up in the morning to find almost everyone gone. Cloud had work, Tifa went shopping, and Sora and Riku went to visit some friends. Ventus was sprawled out on the couch watching old cartoon, and Roxas decided to join his twin, shoving his legs over to make room for himself. Axel decided he would go find out what he could make for breakfast after learning that Ventus hadn't had anything yet either.
It was the kitchen where he found Namine. She was carefully perched on one of the stools under the counter, sketching into the sketchbook she clutched in her hands, looking up quickly to the bowl of fruit in front of her. She looked over to Axel when she realized she was no longer alone.
"Hello." Her voice was soft and high. Axel wasn't sure where she came from in this family. so small compared to her rather well built parents, lighter hair and eyes than anyone else, pale pale skin, and such a soft voice. Sure Roxas looked a little fragile on the outside, but underneath were smooth muscled and a fiery spirit.
"Hello Namine. Have you eaten yet?" He asked politely before stepping over to the fridge to being pulling out eggs and butter to make some breakfast.
"I haven't actually, thank you." She watched him circle around the counter to browse the fridge.
"Is eggs and bacon and toast good with everyone? Fried?" Axel asked, leaning into the fridge so his voice was slightly muffled.
"Ventus hates fried eggs, but-"
"They're Roxas's favorite." Axel finished for her, surprising the little blonde. He smiled. "Don't look so surprised, I live with Roxas after all. So fried for Roxas and I, scrambled for Ventus, and for the lady?"
Namine smiled softly, "Scrambled please." Axel, nodded, quickly finding all the necessary items in order to cook everything. Namine watched him, turning the page in her sketchbook to a new one and starting to draw something new. "Do you mind if I ask you some things?" She asked quietly.
"Shoot. I've been expecting the grilling the come any time now." Axel grinned over his shoulder.
"What is your favorite thing about Roxas?"
Axel shoot a strange look over his shoulder, not expecting that. "Well I guess I have to say how, once you figure him out, you can see everything in his face. And how open he can be once you earn his trust."
"So he's open with you?" Namine asked softly, continuing to sketch across the paper.
"Yeah, for the most part. He tries to hide things he finds embarrassing, but I can tell when he is hiding something. Of course, sometimes he hides things that are more important. Those are the things that I let him decide when to tell me about. I respect that there are things going on in his life or his past that I don't need to know about right away. He'll tell me when he thinks I need to know. As long as it's not proving to be bad for his health, I won't step in if he doesn't want me to."
"Well," Namine started, closing the sketchbook over the sketchy drawing of Axel working at the stove and getting up from her seat, "I think that is all I need to know. Thank you, Axel. I approve."
Axel turned around to give her a sincere smile. "Thank you."
"You obviously already have Sora and Riku's approval, or you wouldn't have meet Roxas in the first place, so that only leaves you with three more people."
Axel smirked a little, "I look forward to it."
As Namine made her way back to the living room, Axel continued looking over the bacon. It was a few minutes later that slim arms wrapped around his waist, a smaller, shorter body pressing against his back. He turn around, expecting to look into his lovely boyfriend's face, but found it wasn't quite right. The eyes were a little darker than they should be, the eyebrows a lighter blonde, the jaw was a little rounder, and lips a little softer and not as well defined.
"Ventus?" Axel asked confused. "What are you doing?"
"Awe, you could tell us apart that easily?" The arms fell from around Axel's waist as Ventus took a few steps back.
"Well yeah, you look the same at first glance, but I've been looking at Roxas for a while now. I think I can tell the difference between you two." Axel raised a brow at the little blond that looked almost too much like his own blond, but not enough.
"Then I suppose you pass my test." Ventus winked, grinning. "You have no idea how many people that we grew up with cannot tell the difference between us. You are the first guy Roxas has dated that could tell. "
"So how many times have you done this?" Axel asked, curious because Roxas never really told him how many people he had dated before, probably because Axel was somewhat notorious for being the jealous type.
"Oh, trying to find out my brother's experience through me?" Ventus teased, while Axel began whisking eggs. "Well I can't give you an exact number because obviously Roxas doesn't want you to know that, but I can tell you that it's enough that he knows what he is doing, but not so much that you need to be jealous."
"I guess I can live with that answer." Axel shrugged. It was nice to know Roxas hadn't been with a ridiculous number of people before. He wasn't sure if he could handle that, not because Roxas had been with a lot of people, but because a lot of people had been with Roxas.
"Need someone on toast duty?"
"That would be great, thanks."
Roxas's parents and Sora and Riku came back before lunch, so they all went out together to have lunch at a local diner. It was, overall, far more comfortable a meal than dinner at been the day before. Everything was relaxed and chatty. Axel and Riku were sat next to each other so the two traded insults as usual before getting into a competition about who was better at... well everything.
It was nice getting to just relax and chat with one of his best friends, doing what they would do any other day. Granted, Axel could feel Cloud's eyes on him the whole time, the blond man sitting on the other side of the table. He couldn't read the man's expression, but then again, he really hadn't seen anything that made sense on that man's face yet, or really gave away anything.
The next day, Roxas was swept away from Axel by his siblings to do their yearly... whatever it was they did. No one outside the four of them actually knew. So it was only Axel, Riku, Tifa, and Cloud that were left at the house for most of the day. Cloud was out in the garage, working on his motorcycle, and Tifa was wrapping presents upstairs, while Axel and Riku were sprawled out on the couches in the living room, watching whatever sports happened to be on at the time.
It was around one in the afternoon that Tifa came down and shooed Riku out of the living room so she could "talk" to Axel. He knew what was coming.
"So Axel, I'm sure you know what I want to talk to you about, so I am just going to cut to the chase. Do you care about Roxas? Are you happy with him?" Tifa gave him a level stare, waiting patiently for Axel to respond. He wasn't expecting her to come right out and ask him what she really wanted to know.
"I care a lot about Roxas. I know we've only been together for a year and a half now, but I feel like I've known him so much longer. And I want to be with him for a long time. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me." Axel answered honestly, blinking surprisedly down at the woman.
She looked at him for a few moments, judging the look on his face, trying to determine if he was genuine. Finally she seemed to make up her mind, nodding once at him. "Alright, I believe you." She smiled softly at him. "If nothing else I could see it in your face whenever you look at my son. You look at him like nothing else matters if he isn't there."
"I don't think anything does anymore. He just... makes everything better for me." Axel smiled without even thinking about it. That silly grin he got whenever he thought too much about Roxas.
"I know Cloud always hoped Roxas would marry some young lady and have a family, and I would have liked that as well, but it wouldn't be worth it if Roxas wasn't happy. And he's happy with you, I can see it." She smiled almost sadly. "Cloud is your toughest customer to win over, but I know he sees how happy Roxas is. I don't think I've ever seen him smile this much in a small amount of time since he was a little kid, running around with Ventus like little tornadoes of terror." She laughed. "Cloud will come around soon enough." She assured him.
"Thank you, ma'am." Axel smiled sweetly at her. "And to be quite honest, I've always wanted a child. As long as I can convince Roxas, someday I would like to adopt."
Her eyes shone at the idea, her lips parting a little before a smile reached them and her hands came together before her. "Oh, that would be wonderful, Axel. I think you just got an extra approval from me." She laughed lightly.
Roxas we nervous as he stepped through the door leading to the garage where his father was, again, working on his beloved motorcycle. He had already talked to his mother, and although she was a little annoyed that he hadn't thought it was worth telling her he was gay before now, she was perfectly fine with it and she approved of Axel. He also found out that both Namine and Ventus had both done their own kind of testing and also approve of Axel.
That only left Roxas's father, and he knew that Axel couldn't gain his approval before he and Roxas had this conversation.
So he needed to suck it up and talk.
"Dad?" his voice was softer and shook a little more than he wanted it to.
"Roxas?" His father's voice came from the other side of the garage, bouncing off the walls. He stood up from behind the bike, whipping his hands off and walking towards Roxas. "What brings you out here?"
"I just... thought we should talk." Roxas shrugged, folding his arms over his chest as he stepped over to one of the seats against the wall, his father following him, taking the other seat beside him.
Cloud simply sat across from him, waiting for him to spit out whatever he had to say.
"Well I- I know I never said I was gay before this, and I let you believe I was straight, even when I knew I wasn't but- I just..." Roxas floundered for words. He had planned out everything he wanted to say, but of course it wouldn't come out properly when he needed it to. "I was afraid, I guess. I knew you wanted me to get married to some girl and have a family but-"
"Roxas." Cloud cut him off. Roxas looked up, surprised, at his father shaking his head, an almost smile on his lips. "Roxas, I want that for all of my kids because a family is the best thing that ever happened to me." Roxas shut his mouth, allowing his father to continue. "I don't care the gender of the person you go home to. I care that the person you go home to loves you, and that you love them. You can have a family with anyone as long as there is love and care. Now," Cloud sat back, his back straightening and Roxas sat up as well, bracing for whatever was coming next. "I am disappointed that you didn't tell me until now, but I understand. I was a little hard on Sora and it might seem like I expect different from you. I don't. I expect the same thing from all of my kids. To be happy and safe. And of course to take care of me when I'm old a senile." Cloud cracked a rare smile and Roxas knew the hard part was over.
"So... you're okay with me and Axel?" he asked, cracking a small smile of his own.
"Ehh, I still want to talk to him about it, but I understand he already has everyone else's approval. I don't doubt he'd be able to manage mine as well."
Axel shifted back and forth in his seat at the table. Cloud was seated across from him and all the other seats were empty. It was time for the last talk. Despite reassurance from everyone else, and a quick kiss from Roxas, Axel was nervous. Cloud scared him. Even though he was a couple inches shorter than Axel, he was well built, and the glare... it was almost exactly like Roxas's glare, except there wasn't the love behind it that Roxas had. The only thing that might keep Cloud from simply tearing Axel apart with the wrong word was the fact that Axel made Roxas happy.
"So. Axel." Cloud started, his hands folded in front of him on the table. "You've been with Roxas for a year a half." Axel nodded slowly. "Do you care about him?"
"Of course."
"Can you take care of him?"
"Roxas can take care of himself. He doesn't need anyone. But I can be there for him when he does need someone. I will always be there for him when I can. And even sometimes when I can't." Axel answered, completely honest.
"Do you do drugs or drink?"
"I used to drink a lot, but I don't anymore. Just a few on the weekend with friends. Never had any interest in drugs." Axel shrugged.
Cloud nodded. "What about violence?"
"I have a temper. I used to get really out of control when I got angry, but I'm learning to control it, and Roxas can easily calm me down. He's done it several times before. I'm not proud of those moment, but I am grateful that he has been there for me." Axel looked down at the able, ashamed that he didn't have control of himself sometimes.
"I see." Cloud was quiet for a moment, looking over Axel. "I only have one last thing to ask you." Cloud sat back in his seat, looking over Axel one last time.
"Do you love Roxas?"
Axel was silent for a moment, surprised. For all the time they had been together, neither of them had ever said anything about love. Axel had thought about it, he thought about it almost every time he saw Roxas. But he had never said to Roxas or anyone else that he loved him. But Axel knew the answer the moment it left Cloud's mouth.
"With everything I have."
And for the first time, Axel saw something on Cloud's face that wasn't cold. A warm smile. An approving smile. The one thing Axel needed at the moment.
"Thank you, Axel. That's all I needed to know."
Cloud got up from his seat, leaving Axel there at the table where he stayed for a few moments, until a soft voice came from behind him.
"Did you... really mean that?"
Axel whirled around to see Roxas, wide eyed and standing in the doorway.
"You... love me?"
Axel smiled softly, rising from his seat and stepping over to Roxas, forcing him to look up into green eyes. Axel's hand came up to cup Roxas's cheek, leaning down slightly. "Of course I love you, Roxas. I just... never found the right time to tell you."
Roxas's eyes were wide and almost childlike, a smile creeping onto his face. "I-" Roxas shook his head a little, disbelieving, "I love you too, Axel." Axel couldn't describe how it felt to hear Roxas say those words. It was like his world was complete. He didn't need anything else. Everyone could take his presents back. He had all he needed. Axel wrapped his arms around Roxas, pulling him closer and capturing his lips. Roxas was all he needed.
Roxas woke up Christmas morning, warms arms wrapped around him. He turned around, snuggling farther into the warmth that was Axel. It had always been nice to snuggle into Axel's unusual warmth on a cold morning, but it was almost better when he knew that Axel loved him. He wasn't sure if he even cared to get up to open presents with his family, as nothing could compare to Axel.
"If we don't get up, your twin is going to come and jump in bed with us. You know he will." Axel's voice was in Roxas's ear, rough with sleep.
Roxas groaned, not moving from where he was buried into Axel's chest. "Why did I have to have an annoying twin?"
"Because you have the amazing that is me, babe. It wouldn't be fair if you had an amazing twin and an amazing boyfriend." Axel teased, the roughness slowly leaving his voice, much to Roxas's disappointment. He loved early-morning-Axel-voice.
"Well I guess I prefer an awesome boyfriend over an awesome twin..." Roxas groaned again, somehow managing to get a little closer to Axel, while Axel chucked low in his throat, the vibrations sinking into Roxas's skin pleasantly.
"You guys get one warning!" Came a voice from outside the spare bedroom door. Roxas groaned one more time recognizing it as his twins voice that was so similar to his own. "Either get out of bed or put some pants on because I'm coming in to drag you out for Christmas morning present extravaganza!"
Roxas chose to ignore his twin for now and just enjoy the warmth of his bed and Axel. Go ahead and let his brother drag him out of bed. Axel just chuckled. It was barely a minute later that Ventus burst through the door, stalking over to the bed and grabbed his twin, easily pulling him away from Axel and out of bed.
"Roxas!" Ventus complained. "I told you to put some pants on! I don't need to see that." He shielded his eyes, looking away.
"Oh please, Ven, we're twins. It's nothing you haven't seen before." Roxas grumbled. "And if you weren't prepared for that, you shouldn't have dragged me out of bed." He climbed back up into the bed to a, again, chuckling Axel.
"It's not seeing you naked that is bothering me. It's that I know if you are naked, then Axel is naked. And if you are both naked, that means you had sex last night, and I can't think about my baby brother that way!" Ventus whined, starting to walk towards the door, still covering his eyes with a hand.
"Five minutes!" Roxas called after him.
"Still counts!" Ventus voice disappeared up the stairs.
"Are you going to tell him that you took your boxers off right before he came in here or just let him think we had sex and are both naked." Axel asked.
"Well we did have sex, twice. We just happened to have the motivation afterwards to shower. Let him think what he wants, I really don't care anymore." Roxas sighed, laying back down on Axel. "I love you." He whispered.
Axel's arm came around him, pulling him close. "I love you too."
Axel had to admit, this was the best first Christmas he could ever ask for.
