"What do you mean this is the land of the dead?! I died?" Kushina nodded wiping her own tears she smiled softly to him.

"Don't worry you aren't dead quite yet, thank god. However you are dying fast, you need to make a choice now, I can send you back and heal you but if I do you will be touched by a power that will change everything for you. Will you stay or will you go?" Naruto closed his eyes and everyone he cared for the most popped into his head, his father, his aunt and uncle, Mako, his sensei's, and his flower, Ty Lee. He opened his eyes looking determined.

"I need to go back, I can't leave everyone behind like this. I'm sorry Haha, but wait for me a little longer." Kushina smiled and nodded hugging him tightly, she touched a hand to his forehead and one over his heart.

"This will sting and it will take a while for your soul to cross back over to the world of the living, so we will have time." Naruto nodded and Kushina started her work crying tears of sadness for the pain he will have to endure.

Itachi looked at Kakashi, he managed to stem the bleeding but Naruto will die soon, his liver being torn and his kidney basically infecting his body with toxins, Naruto will die one way or another. Itachi picked Kakashi's sleeping form up and moved him to the other bed, Itachi wondered, would it be better to just end Naruto's life now? Even if he had recovered from the wound the toxins in his veins would kill him slowly and painfully. Wouldn't it be merciful to just end his life now without pain, no more suffering, could he be Naruto's angel of mercy? Itachi started to pull out a kunai but he felt something stiring inside of Naruto. Within seconds Naruto's chakra was bubbling and chains were forming from his back lashing out and flying around. Kakashi jumped to his feet waking up and saw his student and his situation, Kakashi almost fell to the ground crying when he saw those chains.

"Kakashi-senpai! What is going on here?!" Kakashi turned to Itachi and sighed.

"It is his okaa-san's bloodline, those chains are what permitted her to keep the Kyuubi no Yoko in check! I don't know what all they can do but they have powerful sealing capabilities. Something must have happened for him to awaken these chains, only in times of great emotional and physical distress could he awake them. Something is happening inside of his head, something that is emotionally distressing him." Itachi cursed his luck, Naruto's eyes were closed so he couldn't invade his mind to save him. He would just have to ride this out and hope everything calmed down. Itachi moved to the left and slid avoiding a chain with a dagger at the end from skewering him. HE grabbed Kakashi and the two left the room immediately to be saved from a death by skewer. Itachi looked at Kakashi and the two nodded in confirmation, they would have to just let Naruto be. The two quickly moved down to the kitchen area to see Sakura helping Tsunami clean the blood from the floor. Kakashi went to help but before he could Itachi was on his knees bowing low to Tsunami as if she were a Daimyo.

"Thank you for helping us, if it weren't for you our student would be dead. Thank you, thank you very very much." Tsunami smiled softly handing him a wet rag.

"If you want to thank me, help us clean the blood, and my name is Tsunami, yours?" Itachi smiled taking the rag he started to scrub the floor.

"Uchiha Itachi." Tsunami smiled and went back to work with the two. Kakashi went to find Sasuke only to find him outside sitting under a tree. Joining the teen he could tell Sasuke was worried.

"Don't worry, we stopped the bleeding and from what we can tell he's going to be out a while, but he can make it till we can get back to Konoha." Sasuke looked up at the man and that is when Kakashi saw it, his trembling hands.

"I didn't even introduce myself to them at graduation when we met as a team, I thought they were too far below me. Now though I couldn't imagine my life without them, they are my closest friends and my family now. Does it ever get easier to see that?" Kakashi shook his head.

"Take it from me, Sasuke-kun, it never does. All you can do is be there for them when they are hurt. I will warn you, give Naruto a couple days, he activated his bloodline and right now anyone will be in danger if they approach him. For now, we train, Zabuza is not dead and you need to get strong, strong enough to protect them with your own two hands." Sasuke nodded and stood.

"What are we waiting for then, let's go." Kakashi nodded and followed Sasuke off towards the woods.

Itachi looked to the floor, the bucket of red stained water, the pink hue dyed into his hands from his student's blood. He looked at Sakura who was chatting with Tsunami, he saw her façade she showed the older woman. Sakura was far from ok, but she is trying to handle it better than he is. He stood and stretched his back out before moving to join the two ladies.

"So when he came into the room and saw that I had a pink dress chichi almost killed me! He despises the color pink on me, he says it doesn't look good at all." Tsunami gasped.

"Really? I figured it would go well with your skin tone and hair!" Itachi cleared his throat and immediately the water started forming in Sakura's eyes.

"Itachi-sensei! How is he?! Will he make it?" Itachi raised his hand and took a deep breath.

"It is touch and go for now, we stopped the bleeding but the biggest issue is the toxins in his blood system. His kidney and liver both are expelling toxins into his blood, the liver will heal, but the kidney is destroyed. We won't know anything till he wakes up, when he does we can ask him more about how he is feeling, depending on if his body feels like it's on fire or if it feels numb is whether he will make it. If he says it feels like he is on fire then that means the infection has spread throughout his circulatory system, but if he just feels numb then that means his body is healing and we managed to contain the toxins to some point. Anyway, I think we should start training Sakura-chan, Zabuza is still alive and he will be a very real threat soon. He might be hurt, but he will survive." Sakura stood and looked into Itachi's eyes.

"Help me get stronger, I don't want to be useless next time, please sensei, teach me!" Itachi nodded and the two went to leave.

"Tsunami-san, will you watch Naruto? Come alert us if his status changes." Tsunami nodded and watched the two leave, this was going to be interesting to say the least.

Naruto opened his eyes, he felt sore but nothing too bad, the room he was in was scarred by marks on the wall from what looked like knife carvings. He looked around and saw blood on the floor surrounding him. He tried to get up but felt so weak, he couldn't understand, he couldn't have been out for that long could he? HE struggled to his feet and looked at his side a large nasty scar lining his side, he remembered his mothers words and her actions. He heard the door open and a crash, a plate hitting the floor with food on it. The woman took off running down the stairs and fled the house, she knew where she was going. Tsunami burst into the clearing seeing a roughed up Sakura and a panting Sasuke with their sensei's.

"Hatake-san, Uchiha-san, it's Naruto-kun, he's awake!" Kakashi vanished from the spot while Itachi left with the rest of them. Kakashi appeared at the house and scrambled up the stairs, he saw Naruto getting dressed and he sighed in relief.

"Thank god you're okay Naruto-kun. Your Otou-san would have killed me if you had died on a C-rank mission." Naruto laughed lightly because he was still weak and sat on the bed.

"You're not the only he would have killed, so how long have I been out of it?" Kakashi sighed and crossed his arms leaning against the door frame.

"Twelve days, by the fifth your bloodline had receded and we could see you were healed, by the tenth Itachi noted brain activity and you woke up today. You need to gather your strength though, tomorrow we all are heading to the bridge because we think Zabuza is on the move. You need your strength because we have reason to believe that Gato will send thugs here, you need to protect the clients family. Itachi-kun and I will be going to the bridge to handle Zabuza and his lackies, so just rest for now." Naruto nodded and laid down in the bed, a few minutes later Tsunami came up with a new plate of food along with Itachi, Sasuke, and Sakura.

"I apologize for running like I did Naruto-kun, it's just, you shocked me. To see someone who was in a coma just suddenly up, it terrified me. I am Tsunami by the way." Naruto smiled and nodded, he looked at his sensei and his fellow students.

"Naruto-kun, what happened out there? One minute I'm gone to take care of Zabuza's accomplice and when I return Kakashi is running off with you injured. I need to know what happened." Naruto nodded and put the plate on the bed side table.

"When the mist rolled in and I heard Kakashi-sensei fighting Zabuza I knew he would try to make a move on us, Kakashi-sensei and you had something to protect, he didn't. So I already had everyone within my reach, when I knew Zabuza had appeared I shoved them down, but before I could get down Zabuza hit me with his sword. Next thing I know I'm waking up here, what happened?" Itachi sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Kakashi-senpai managed to hold off Zabuza till I got there, once I arrived he took off with you and I dealt with Zabuza. That is until that hunter-nin appeared and took Zabuza away with ice mirrors. Once He was gone I got the client, Sasuke-kun, and Sakura-chan here as fast as I could. When I arrived Kakashi was working on you to try and keep you alive. We managed to stop the bleeding but when we did your bloodline emerged. The Kongō Fūsa is what Kakashi told me they were called, your mother had great control over them, but I am afraid without another Uzumaki who knows these abilities, you will be in the dark in controlling them. Though Minato-dono may know something about them, Kushina-sama was his wife after all." Naruto nodded, he clenched his hand tightly and released it he looked determined.

"Sensei, how soon can I leave the bed?" Itachi smirked.

"If you make sure to limber up your body, possibly even by tonight, though you should take it easy, your body is healing from what should have been your death. Do not push yourself; it Is unbecoming of the Hokage's son to die on a C-rank mission." Naruto scoffed and he stood, he grabbed his bow and pulled on the string carefully. He sighed as he turned quickly drawing the bow and launching an arrow of pure chakra, Itachi heard a noise and something drop to the ground.

"We have a visitor Itachi-sensei." Itachi nodded and immediately left through the window to retrieve the fallen person. When Itachi arrived in the house Naruto had gone into the living room to sit with everyone. A young black haired shinobi donning a mist hunter-nins uniform was seen with a hole in his side. Itachi threw the Shinobi on the ground.

"This is the hunter-nin that took Zabuza away, Naruto-kun caught him outside the house. I think the child was going to try and kill Tazuna-san tonight while he slept to end the confrontation." The young man looked up and gave a glare of anger into Itachi's eyes, Itachi activated his Sharingan and using Genjutsu: Sharingan he knocked the child out.

"Kakashi-senpai and I will interrogate the ninja tonight, when we find out more of what Zabuza is planning, we will return. For now, Sasuke and Sakura, you two are on duty." The two nodded and Itachi left with Kakashi for the woods. Naruto sighed and leaned back fiddling with his fingers.

"This is going to be a long night." Sakura nodded in agreement and Sasuke only hned.
