Ch 10

It had been three weeks since the night she had spent with the group of rebels. And she was still thriving off of it. She couldn't get them off her mind, especially Quinn. They hadn't spoken or had any type of contact between each other. It was as if Rachel had traveled to this mystical place and was left with nothing but a memory. Her life was returning back to normal and it sucked. But there was one good thing that did come out from that night. Rachel could clearly remember what happened that night as soon as she got home the next morning.

Flash:

Her parents had been waiting for her in the living room. Their faces looked exhausted, deep frowns were etched into cheeks and heavy bags clung to their eyes with sleep deprivation. Once Rachel stepped through the door her father leaped for joy when he saw his daughter and came rushing to her. He threw his arms around her, kissing her hair. He had been worried sick. They both had.

Once they broke apart Rachel made eye contact with her mother. Shelby looked completely distraught. She thought that her daughter had run away for good. There was a pained expression across her face. She was hurt by Rachel's actions.

The pain behind her mother's eyes tugged at Rachel's heart strings. She hadn't seen her mom look so vulnerable in a long time. Despite the fact that her and her mom argue and disagree about a lot of things, and maybe she was kind of bitch, she was still her mom. But after tonight and everything she had been through she knew exactly what she wanted.

"I'm not going to Yale, or Stanford." Rachel stated firmly to her mother.

The woman was about to interrupt but Rachel cut her off. "NO! I've had enough of it from you. You're supposed to be MY mother. You're supposed to support and encourage me to fulfill my dreams, not plan and dictate my life. What's the point of having a life if you can't even live it? Huh?"

Her mom didn't say a word. Rachel continued. "This is my life. And I want to sing on Broadway. I want to go to New York and go to a performing arts school. This is my dream. It's my passion. It's the only thing that I want in this world. And I'm not going to give it up just because you think it's a waste of time. So maybe I will fail? So what? At least I'll be able to say that I tried and gave it everything. I'll have no regrets. Just because you didn't make it, doesn't mean that I won't."

Her father's jaw hit the ground. Her mother's eyes were wide as bricks. Shelby looked away. The words that came from her daughter's mouth struck a chord within her. And it hurt. Deeply. But in a small way she couldn't help the small internal smile that beamed through her. Rachel sounded just like her when she was her age. And she did go to New York. But she couldn't get in to a performing arts school. No one would take her. Year after year she struggled to make it through the business and never once made it to a Broadway stage. After a few years she became defeated and returned home. Her father sent her to school and told her that singing and dancing was a waste of her time. And the sad truth was, was that she believed him. Now eerily enough here she was with her own daughter standing before her. It broke her heart when she lived through it herself. But knew it would tear her up if one day Rachel realized her dreams would never come true. And she wouldn't know how to fix her daughter. But it was useless to try and negotiate. No matter what she did Rachel would still do this, with or without her consent. The one thing that her daughter would need was her. If things did fall apart she would be right there with Rachel in a heartbeat.

"Okay," Shelby responded.

Rachel a bit bewildered replied back. "What?" maybe she hadn't heard her correctly.

"I said okay. You can apply." Shelby conceded.

Rachel broke out into a wide smile. "Are you serious?"

Tears were now coming out from her face. Her heart felt like it had been lifted with joy. And now she felt excitement. Rachel lunged for her mom and threw her arms around her. Shelby held tight to her daughter. She had only wanted what was best for her daughter. The older woman found herself crying too.

"You're still grounded by the way." Her mother threw out.

Rachel nodded her head just as her father came around from the back. The three hugged each other in a tight embrace. And that was all that Rachel could hope for.

End of flash:

"So are you sure you want to be seen with me? It might ruin your popularity or something." Jesse stated as he and Rachel walked down the hall together.

"I'm so over this place. You're my best friend and I'm going to talk to you whenever the hell I want. I don't care what these stuck up bitches and assholes think. I like you way more than I do them." Rachel announced.

"Aww, you do care!" Jesse joked.

Rachel rolled her eyes and looped her arm with his. "Don't let it get to your head pretty boy."

Just then Finn strolled up to them. He made a loud scoff as he eyed Jesse from head to toe. Once he saw Rachel and Jesse's arm linked he made a repulsive face. "Beat it. I need to talk to my girlfriend." The boy spoke.

Rachel gave Finn a smirk. Instead of releasing Jesse's arm she actually tightened the hold. "Actually, Finn. There is something that I've been meaning to talk to you about."

Finn looked at her with a dumbfounded expression. "Okay, what it is? And do we have to do it in front of him?" he asked, pointing at Jesse.

"This has nothing to do with Jesse. In fact, after this conversation we will no longer have anything else that we need to talk about." Rachel responded.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I'm breaking up with you ass!"

Finn looked at her incredulously. "You're breaking up with me?"

Rachel nodded. "I didn't stutter."

"You're fucking kidding me."

"I'm not much of a joker and you know that."

"You can't break up with me!" Finn shouted out.

"Yeah, I just did." Rachel nodded.

Finn was starting to act erratic. His face was turning red. A few seconds later he threw his hands in the air with outrage. In Rachel's mind he kind of looked like a monkey. Finn growled with anger and then eyed Jesse. "Is it this guy? Are you leaving me for him?" he growled out.

Rachel looked at Jesse and smiled. "Yes. I am. I've fallen in love with him."

Finn was about to explode. Jesse looked at her like she was crazy. But through their gaze she told him to play along with it. Jesse rolled his eyes and smiled at Finn. "Sorry man. I guess I've just got a bigger dick than you." he throws out.

Finn's jaw hits the floor. It looks like he just took the biggest shit right in the middle of the hallway. Rachel is about to explode with laughter. Then she leans into Finn and whispers. "And he actually knows how to use it."

It was the final blow. Finn was completely comatose. He couldn't move or think. Rachel and Jesse locked arms once again and spun around. They were barely able to make it a few feet before they started sputtering out into fits of laughter. They couldn't contain themselves as they walked further down the hallway.

"He doesn't know I'm gay right?" Jesse asked.

Rachel shakes her head. "No."

They both look at each other and tilt their head's over in laughter. The image of the boy was still fresh in their minds. The more they thought of it the harder they laughed. Rachel smiled widely as she grabbed her best friend's hand. Today was another good day.

4:23 pm

Class was just letting out. By now, everyone had heard about Rachel and Finn's breakup. It was even announced on the school radio. Rachel smiled with her group of friends as she closed her locker. Everyone was congratulating her on her new relationship status. As it turns out, not a lot of people actually liked Finn. He was kind of an ass. Even though Rachel was a bitch herself, people could actually tolerate her.

"See you later guys." Rachel announced as she walked out the front doors to the school.

As soon as she stepped out, she spotted some kind of commotion happening just down the front steps. A group of students were huddled together, blocking her view. Rachel started walking down the steps trying to get a better view. Once she finally was able to get through her eyes widened. There was a car parked on top of a curb, blasting some kind of heavy metal music. And there on top of the hood was none other than Quinn Fabray. She was wearing a black leather jacket and dark skinny jeans. Her hair was pulled back into a messy bun. She was wearing a pair of white sunglasses and ruby red lipstick that rang out through the crowd. The girl was stretched out on her hood acting as if she was tanning. Rachel bit her lip and smiled widely. She was in complete awe along with her fellow classmates.

The blonde finally noticed Rachel and easily swiped the sunglasses from her face. Quinn raised a brow in Rachel's direction, clearly checking the girl out in her cheerleading uniform. Rachel met her gaze. Quinn smiled and hopped off the car. Rachel met her halfway. She was still stunned and a little speechless.

Quinn cleared the back of her throat and smiled at Rachel. Rachel automatically smiled back and was lost for words.

"So maybe I lied about the whole one night thing." Quinn starts off.

"Really? You don't say." Rachel blushes.

"Yeah, you see, I met this really hot girl the other night. I mean really hot! Like Victoria Secret model hot. Anyways, we had this totally crazy, and ridiculous night together. She uhh- she even threw a rock at my car."

Rachel chuckled softly. By this time the large group of students had gotten bigger. People were pointing and whispering at the both of them. Eyes were watching them with keen interest.

"Yeah, the bitch was totally crazy too. She sang on stage with my band, and partied with us. I was really impressed ya know? Shit like that rarely ever happens. And it was probably one of the best nights of my life. She blew me away. And of course my dumb ass let her leave just like that."

"I see. What kind of dumbass would do that?" Rachel responded.

"Exactly! Obviously a really dumb one. But truthfully-" Quinn paused, her face turning serious. "I haven't been able to get my head straight ever since that night. So that's why I'm here."

"What exactly are you looking for here?" Rachel asked, eyes burring with intensity.

"If you haven't figured it out by now" the blonde joked.

"I need you to say it." Rachel concludes.

"I'm here for you." Quinn replied simply. "Because I need you in my life, just as clearly as you need me."

Rachel smiled and took a step closer to the blonde. Quinn raised another brow and smirked. Rachel can't help herself. This girl was fucking sexy as hell. Even if she had said she was only here for an apology she still would've taken anything. "So you're kinda like in love with me right?"Rachel sarcastically points out.

Quinn scoffed and blew a breath out. "I think it's you that's totally into me."

"Really is that so?" Rachel quipped.

"You know Ms. Head Captain of the Cheerleading squad, people are looking at us." Quinn pointed out.

"So?"

Quinn hums as she wraps her arms around Rachel's waist. "And you don't care about the fact that your rich school friends are seeing you with me, a really hot chick with a bad attitude?"

Rachel chuckles before leaning in and kissing the other girl. The students all around gasped. The brunette ignored them. She briefly ran her hands through blonde hair before pulling back. "Let's get out of here." Rachel announced.

"And go where?" Quinn asked.

The car window rolled down. Puck and Brittany stuck their heads out from the window. Both of them had wide smiles across their faces.

"So are we heading to the beach or what?" Puck asked, interrupting the moment.

"Damn, I forgot about them." Quinn mumbles.

"HEY! Not cool!" Puck pouts.

"Let's get out of here! I'm starving!" Brittany lets out with a chuckle.

Quinn grabbed Rachel's hand. They both hop into the car. Rachel squeezes in between Blaine and Brittany in the back. Quinn is once again at the wheel. The car starts up, and roars to life. Blaine and Brittany both throw their arms around the small brunette.

"And welcome to the crew!" Brittany calls out.

"Nice uniform." Blaine comments.

"I wonder if it looks as good as it does coming off?" Pucks asks.

Immediately the boy is thrown out of the car. "THIS IS FOR THE DENT IN MY CAR ASS!" Quinn shouts just as the car takes off, leaving Puck standing on the sidewalk with his hands in the air.

"HEYYYY!"

The Mohawk boy runs after the car. Everyone was laughing. Quinn looks at Rachel through the rearview mirror and winks.
