3. Chapter 2

A month later

(Bell rings for class to begin)

The students scurry getting to their classrooms, we peer into one paticular classroom where all of the SSS members thus far are in, Yui walks through the door and stands where the teacher is supposed to and speaks to the class.

Yui; alright everyone, sense our teacher seems to have (air quotes) "disappeared" I will be leading this class and doing his duties, there are a few of you I don't know whome I have to ask again. Are you alright with this?"

The few annonomous students nod there heads.

Student 1; we are all happier then ever before with this."

Student 2; (stretches in relief) Ohhh I can't tell you how bad it was having to fit in with these freaky students."

Student 3; sense you all showed up the other students seem to have each disappeared."

Student 4; though the teacher I presume has been litrally taken care of."

Yusa walks up and stands beside yui.

Yusa; you can be quite sure of that, she is still here, just in secret and completely immobile. If the school needs anything from us, we send it all in anonomously, when the day is over no one questions where the teacher is or when she leaves to go home."

Yui; where these teachers and students go "home" is completely unknown to us and perhaps there is an actual town somewhere we have yet to find."

(Yusa keeps standing beside her as a noble partner or aide would saying nothing just looking serious and attentive)

Yui; before I begin, you four students please tell us your names and why you've remained here sense before the rest of us."

Student 1; (stands up) my name is Leon. How I came to be here is in my past life all I can remember is I was a horrible person, I would (looks down) abuse my siblings and use them for my own amusement. I would buy and sell drugs in the streets, and my parents had died from a breakin. I raised my two little sisters ...poorely until finally one day, when they were walking home I just happened to be nearby, I saw them, I saw some person hold them at gunpoint and begged them to plead, I ran as they submitted not pleeded to this person. Angry he shot at them, I jumped in the way just in time to save them. After that there's a blurr of they became so distraught and upset over the person hurting me they went and killed them with what I had found out they planned to kill me with that day.
I was hospitalized and they never left my side, I told them I didn't known if I was going to make it so, I told them how sorry I was for everything I had done, how I wish I could change it all and make things right for them and for myself. I told them I loved them, and I saw their forgiving eyes as they hugged me, and the rest is a blank...I have assumed that I probably died right there. Idk why I was given the chance here and not them...it's not right, after talking to some of our classmates I say damn this god or gods who have fucked us and taken away my sister's happiness and given it to me when I don't deserve it, for all of you here who died in ways so horrible, then ended up here, and in your case, class president back here again."

Yui; so...were calling me class president then? Ok works for me! (Smiley and guyyy and a little too self confident)."

Yusa; I shall be class vice president then. Thank you Leon you may sit down. Will the next student please stand."

Yui's eyes sparkling pays no attention to anything else except her own satisfaction. Student number 2 stands.

Student 2; hey (waves at everyone) my name is Melody, I was given that name because of my relaxed dimeanor and the fact I love music and, according to others play it well. In my previous life I was a rocker chick who played guitar for a heavy metal band. I wasn't exactly the nicest to the band, and I ended up being a whore to all the fans I could, male or female I didn't care I'd sleep with whoever looked good to me. My parents divorced when I was 12, by 14 I couldn't take it anymore and left home, both homes and set off with a band. My home life was never good so I have never learned any different. I spent 5 years playing gigs, touring with the band, Fucking every living things brain out every chance I could get...hell I even let a few girls lick me in between my legs DURING one of the shows. But eventually one person didn't want to Fuck me. They came back to see me and personally had asked the band to see me alone, when they came back I was expecting a
real kinky time, but they just walked in and started just talking to me, like I was a normal person, they showed compassion, care and understanding for me like I was a human being. They even hugged me because they said, "you aren't alone in the world, and there's always someone who worrys about you and loves you in a healthy and very good way that isn't sexual." I was shocked, no one ever said anything like that to me in my entire life. As they said this, a riot happened and a crazy mob wanting to see the band got backstage and started burning everything just for the sake of anarchy. Next thing I knew, me and the girl who needless to say would have turned my life around were in eachothers arms scared to death we were going to die. The room was surrounded by flames and before we died, she did something amazing...she...(starts tearing) she let go me me, ran herself into the wall hard enough to knock through to the back hall where a fire door was, they
grabbed me and ran to the door and threw me through it fast as they could, I went out the door, but I was the last to make it out of their alive. (Looks down at necklace) this belonged to that girl, if I can figure out how to open it one day, maybe I'll learn her name and who she was. O-oh and how I died was...well I was so distraught I went to the first bar I could find, a large group of men surrounded me and asked me if I wanted well...you know what they wanted, drunk and beyond upset I happily ablidged, only when the group was finished with me, I sat their covered in ...stuff and started to cry, as I did they immediately pulled out a gun and blew my head off. So why am I here do you ask...I (starts to cry) I don't knowww..."

The third student comforts her. The whole class is silent.

Leon(under his breath); damn...and I thought mine was bad."

Student 3; Shhh it's ok Melody (she hugs and Trys to comfort her) to...break the ice here, my name's Lyria. I came here about the same time as poor Melody, she was sobbing on the sidewalks outside and I just reacted and went to her. (She rubs and kisses Melodys head) We've been friends ever sense. My story well.."

Melody; (sniffles) it's ok, please (sniffles) tell your story."

Lyria; awww well...ok (rubs melodys back while talking). My story is nothing really... In my life I was a normal person with a normal life, I always helped out people where I could. One fateful day I was helping a girl get her cat out of a tree, heh quite cliche I know. But after I had gotten the cat down and in the girls hands, something totally bizare happened. The girl and the cat disappeared completely, then behind me was a letter, that asked me as a thanks to come to a dinner at the address written. So as careless as I was, I went, and once I was there, I witnessed two people get killed without mercy, watched others have to eat their remains and then the little girl and her cat appeared, everyone else was dead but you and I she said, she kept talking in rhymes and riddles. Till finially I was so tramutized by everything she grabbed my hand and helped me kill her cat. The blood dripping down felt...Sooo amazing. She took me to a locked room where
people were chained and tied up, some even went to my school that had gone missing recently. The little girl smiled at me, put her hand in my arm and said I was her new best friend, and handed me a knife, I was filled with such ...emotions I had never felt but wanted to feel more and more, I FUCKING RAN AT AND KILLED ALL OF THEM as they screamed I slit their throats and made them watch as I killed another and another AND ANOTHER UNTIK FINALLY...one remained, my best friend who had gone missing just a few days earlier. She cringed and cried and became I'll as she saw my blackened eyes, I took the knife into the air, and with her last breaths she said, "I love you Lyria, you were always...my true...lo" and I stabbed her right in her chest. I did some...very bad things with that knife and her body that night. But the next day when I awoke, I found my best friends dead body lying next to me with her blood all over me. I freaked out and jumped up and
screamed. Then the little girl appeared, she said to me "no no no, you killed her yet you still are sad, and unsatisfyed, how pitiful, I guess it's time you met with her then." The little girl I...idk what she was but...she made my best friends mutilated body come back to life, she even spoke to me... But only for a brief moment, my best friend I gave a knife, and I still had mine, to end her pain and for me to atone for what I did with her and so I could be with her forever, her and I stabbed one another in the back. After that all I remember is that creepy little girls smiling face...UGHHH."

Everyone especially Yui looks at her astonished, in fact all of them back away a little, all but Melody who stays comforted in her arms. Seeing Melody be more comfortable Yui's mouth just drops.

Yui; (talking with mouth remaining wide open) you...how...CAN WE TRUST YOU!?"

Melody; (peaceful and no longer crying, talking softly)yes, Lyria is very sweet, she faced a demon and her own demons and caught sight of the venom of power and strength. She's here I Beleive to live out her life as she did before her mind went gone. Maybe to also find her best friend."

Student 4; so...I'm uh...gonna (backs way away from Lyria but stands) my name... Is
My story is...no where near like her's. Mine's pretty simple, I lived out of a friend's place after my parents died when I was just a kid, in junior high I had my first girlfriend, and we were together for probably a year before our final day together. One day I was out playing tennis with her at a park where a bunch of trees were around us. She accidentally hit the ball too hard, it flew into the woods, behind us. I went to go get it, just as I grabbed it, heard some weird noises behind me, saw some sort of smoke up in the sky near where this amusement park should have been, I turned around and here comes my girlfriend running at me with blood all over her, I looked her over for any wounds but she was completely fine, then next thing I know she stabs me with a already bloody knife. Next thing I know I woke up here.

Yui; (pondering) hmmm interesting... Yusa.."

Yusa; made personal notes of each of them already. We can discuss things later."

Yui; good...(attention given back to class) ALRIGHT EVERYONE! We are all a full class of real people not one of the ...ghost students "shivers" ugh they creep me out. OK! lets get down to business. Today at lunch they are taking nominations for school president and school council members and their president. So please have it written down who you would like to nominate, only one nomination for president, 2 for student council. On a more...informative matter of this Yusa is going to explain what her and her team have found out."

Yui sits down in chair behind desk next to the podium, Yusa walks up to the podium.

Yusa; we have discovered news of a rumor about the school principal that we don't actually have one and whoever becomes school president and student council president they run the school. This rumor, is true, it is a very hush hush thing with the faculty and staff but my team and I discovered these rumors true so please, chose wise and carefully. As VP of the Battlefront I suggest we discuss if we shud interfere or not, but of course our leader has final say on what our next move in this world is.
Uhmmm let's see, you four new members please see TD for your proper uniforms to show you are part of our class. Let's seed, I think that is all I have to say, please redirect attention to miss Yui."

Yui; (yawns/stretches) hmmm...GAHHH "falls out of chair"ughhh...I-I'm ok... (Jumps up stands attentive) ALRIGHT CLASS! Remember to be careful, outside this room our enemy's are watching us, this is our only safe haven, we have the rooms windows projected to look normal and doors and windows locked heavily, actually Hope would you please disable the projections that are for IN the classroom."

Hope nods her head, reaching around inside her desk she presses a button that sends off a small beep, the normal windows now appear as heavily boarded up with wood and steel, the class door has multiple locks on it and others ready to lock another door over it for heavy safety, and the chalkboard turns into a tv screen, the teachers desk now has a laptop on it that is projecting on the tv screen. Everyone's desks now appear as one long table with an underneath storage area for where ppl specifically sit. A back door in the class appears, and in Tue corner by the door there is a bin filled with melee weapons, swords, axes, katana's, shurikan etc.

Yui; thank you Hope. Now everyone this is our secret headquarters on school grounds, our other secret headquarters...well that is our home for now outside of the school.
Now our mission for now is, make sure one of us is nominated enough to be put on the ballads to be voted for part of school president and part of the council. The council themselves decide who is president by some sort of means. I only ask all of you this, do not write down my or Yusa's name as we are the classroom teachers and the Battlefront leaders. We need someone who is well suited for high position that doesn't have too many other responsibillitys, the only people I recommend not choosing as well is completely newer people that are of low rank in the Battlefront, but that's my own opinion. Now that is your only missions for now, we have plenty of food sense the farm we started, which all I can say is please thank those who work there day and night for all of us. That is all."

An hour passes, the 4 new students are in proper uniform now, everyone is talking about who should be picked for president and student council. Hope however is reading alone in her book. The new girl Lyria walks over to her, and startled her at first.

Lyria; (sits down in chair next to Hope) hey there what are you reading?"

Hope; (eyes jump to Lyria quickly and she jumps a little) it's not something I can share really (closes her book) we'll just say it's a very secretive and precious book and we'll leave it at that."

Lyria; oh, well ok. You, seem like you're always thinking while also excluding yourself, like that Yusa girl and Luca."

Hope; yes we all have large responsibillitys in our team."

Lyria; what team is that?"

Hope; (puts book under her arm, turns and looks at Lyria with a serious intentful look, with a shine on her glasses) Information. (Pauses for a bit, looks down) those two are part of the investigation team, though their team and ours work together closely. Luca is going to take Yusa's place one day, and Yusa is THE best investigative informant there is, it's just the two of them investigating, while my team and I seek information, (looks over at her again, gets a nasty tone) like learning truths of people's true identitys and if they're a threat."

Lyria; (sensing hostillity, getting nervous) n-no! I promise I'm not a threat, (calms and gets strange look) at least not..."gets lost in deep thought)"

Hope studies her up and down and has a scowl on her face, Kokoro comes over.

Kokoro; I-is anything the matter Hope?"

Hope; (ponders a bit longer, then responds) no, no I'm fine, kokoro?

Kokoro; y-yes?"

Hope; I need a pen and paper please.

Kokoro; uhmmm (looks through her bag) uhhh...oh! (Pulls out a bright neon pink and dark purple pen and a notebook with a cover that's a photo) here, just please let me have them back when you're done."

Hope; yes yes, (grabs and starts writing down things on a blank sheet, a few moments later drops the pen, slowly turns the notebook shut and looks at the cover) Kokoro"

Kokoro; y-yes?"

Hope;...who are these people?"

Kokoro; oh! (Smiles and walks over behind Hope) that's a notebook I found that's from my past life, i don't know where she found it but Luca gave it to me along with the pen and my bag, they were all together she said and I just couldn't Beleive my eyes."

Hope; (sits for a moment letting the picture sink in) who...is in this picture?"

Kokoro; oh well there's my best...was my best friend, I-I can't remember her name... We were close tho, I don't know...if when I died she did too, I know we were together when I died, I hope she didn't suffer (begins to look sad)."

Hope; n-no I'm sure she didn't, and...I'm sure if she died too she died knowing she wasn't alone in the world, or in death, she ...had her...best friend...(a tear falls from her face)"

Kokoro; yeah...I hope so..a-anyway take your time with that I need to go study."

Lyria; not to...intrude in your conversation but, what do you need to study?"

Kokoro; oh there's lots, I have to hone my talents as to stay alive and to be able to play."

Lyria; play?

Irie comes over, puts her arm around kokoro

Irie; why yes didn't she tell you? She's part of the distraction teams new band, she's our bassist, and maybe...well it would be up to iwasawa."

Kokoro; (confused and embarrassed) huh? W-what would be?"

Irie; hahah kokoro, girls like you aren't ment to be just the background person, I have a feeling iwasawa will agree and we'll talk more about that later."

Kokoro; (blushing emberrased) o...ok"

Lyria; is the band full?"

Irie; mmm yes mostly, though our two guitarist seem to have disappeared for quite a few days now. Personally, I think there's something fishy about them."

Lyria; who...are they?"

Irie; well, we don't know their names, all we know is they're twins and they have special powers that are quite...unique."

Lyria; powers? How exciting!"

Iwasawa; (walks over behind irie) yeah, if youre into that kinda stuff."

Irie; oh Lyria, this is iwasawa, the former leader of the original band she played lead guitar and lead vocals."

Iwasawa; yes but things change, now I'm just a simple acoustic player and singer."

Irie; oh hey iwasawa when you have a moment I want to discuss a paticular someone's role in the band."

Iwasawa; it's not my band anymore."

Yui just happens to be walking by and overhears, and butts right in.

Yui; now I don't think I just heard those words come from my idol's mouth."

Iwasawa; (happier dispostion) Yui, hi there"

Yui; Iwasawa, this has always been and will always be your band."

Iwasawa; no yui, once I moved on the first time, it became yours, your heart is filled with the joys and emotions you can express that I wish I could, music is my escape from the world, but it's your doorway to everyone's hearts. The twins are a nice idea but, (puts hand on yui's shoulder, yui starts looking like she's about to orgasm) they don't belong in a band that knows nothing about them, you belong in it, you're our leader now, and as a personal favor and from my own opinion, I think and I would like for you to still be part of the band, you chose the new name, and you still have a lot of heart to give."

Yui just falls over and passes out, everyone looks down at her, Iwasawa smiles and walks away, guitar in it's case in hand.

Hope; (not looking at anyone, serious look on face) Yui get the Fuck up, we need to talk."

Yui lays unconscious

Hope; (irritated, gets up, kicks yui repeatedly)WAKE UP!"

Yui; (wakes up after the 5th or 6th kick) huh...uh...(eyes open wide as she feels massive pain)OWWWWWWWW! (Grabs hope by her leg and pulls her down hard) WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR!?"

Hope; (stands back up and ignores the pain) Yui, we need to take a walk."

Yui; (changes from mad to concerned) oh...Oh, yeah ok Hope (gets up, stretches and yawns cutely) let's go."

Hope shoves the notebook into kokoro's hands along with the pen and walks past everyone, Yui following, who signals Yusa of possible trouble. Yusa walks up to the podium.

Yusa; EVERYONE I need your attention please, our leader has stepped out for the time being, please if you need anything come and talk to me, if I'm busy then please talk to kokoro, that is all."

Kokoro; h..HUH!? ME!?"

Yusa; (walking over to kokoro) yes Kokoro, you're fourth in charge by Yui's request. Yui and hope have stepped out which leaves the leader and 2nd officer gone and leaves 1st and 3rd officer in charge, that's us."

Kokoro; but I..."

Yusa; you'll do alright, you're special Kokoro, Yui herself said she sees something uniquely different and secret about you."

Kokoro; o-oh...(blushing, flattered)"

Lyria; uhmmm excuse me Irie is it?"

Irie; yes?"

Lyria; if something with those twins happens, Melody...is beautiful with her music so I'm sure she would be an amazing asset to the band and the team."

Yusa; well, that won't be a problem, it's on a need to know but all I can say is, the twins will not be performing any longer with us."

Kokoro; what happened?"

Yusa; over the course of the past month strange things have been going on, and the assassins keep finding some of us and almost killed poor Lina, who is now in our instensive care unit but none of us are really all that skilled with medicine and we're no doctors or nurses, we'be got some volunteer new members helping her but I don't know if she's gonna make it."

Leon; (butting in) well you're in luck, Lyria and I both are very skilled in that field, where I lack she excels and vice versa."

Lyria; oh stop... I'm not that.."

Leon; don't be so modest!"

Yusa; (very serious) ok in life or death seriousness, are you two skilled in that area yes or no?"

Leon and Lyria; yes!"

Yusa; (sigh of relief, grabs both of them) ok you two come with me I need to take you to her immediately."

Kokoro; wait! What about...me.."

Yusa; you'll do fine kokoro, if you need help, Luca is next in line after you so just ask her if you need anything, she knows her responsibillitys."

Yusa dissappears with Leon and Lyria quickly. Just then the clock hits noon. Luca waves Kokoro to the podium, kokoro walks up nervously.

Kokoro; o-ok e-everyone may I h-have..."

Luca; no no no you gotta be more rash and harsh, HEYYYY! EVERYONE SHUT THE HELL UP OUR CURRENT HEAD IS GOING TO SPEAK!"

everyone quits and all eyes fall on kokoro, Luca smiles at her and she Trys to speak.

Kokoro; ok...e-e...everyone, our f-first 3 officers and our leader have stepped out so...I-I will be in charge until one of them returns, with me is also Luca who is next in charge. Now everyone t-the clock hit noon so go eat lunch! Please don't forget your ballads and put them in The respective proper box at lunch. Return here after ward t-to await further instruction. T-that Is all."

Everyone exits the class, Luca begins to congradulate kokoro but she passes out from anxiety, Luca sits her in a corner of the class with a blanket and pillow and sits next to her Eatting her own lunch watching over her until lunch ends, and the decison for school president and student council will begin and the weight of properly gathering everyone's assignments will weigh on kokoro and Luca's shoulders, along with what possible assassins plan to do once ballads havevbeen voted.

The Woods Outside School

Yui and Hope are casually walking along in the forest.

Yui; are we far away from there enough now?"

Hope; (looks back, looks forward) yes."

Yui; ok, what's this huge important thing you needed to tell me away from everyone else?"

Hope; Yui...I don't know how to put this but...I saw myself today, who I once was..."

Yui; oh well, we all see who we once were it's part of growing up and maturing."

Hope; no...I mean my past life before I died. It was ..."

Hope says nothing and looks down and keeps casually walking.

Yui; well?...where did you see yourself and how?"

Hope; it was... Kokoro ..she... somehow she has her bag, pen and notebook from her past life, Luca found out and gave it to her."

Yui; how is that...possible!? And...wait WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH YOU!?"

Hope; Yui...her notebook was a portrait of her, some of her classmates, her friends, her, and...her best friend."

Yui; yeah ok so?"

Hope; (stops turns and grabs hold of Yui) YUI! I DIDN'T REMEMBER MY PAST LIFE! I WAS ON THAT FUCKING NOTEBOOK! (Yelling increasingly louder) I FUCKING SAW MYSELF AND KNEW IT WAS ME! EVERY GODDAMN THING POURED IN THROUGH MY FUCCKING HEART AND SOULLL! I WAS HER GODDAMN BEST FRIEND AND I ...(releases her grip on Yui and attitude changes to sad) I had loved her...I never knew if it was like a sister or something ...different and I never told her...we died in an accident with a good 4 dozen other teens and kids all students..Yui...those four new members their stories...the fourth one...he..I know where he was, I was at that amusement park..I died there trying to save Kokoro... I guess I failed her..(gets silent for a moment, starts to tear) I...I failed her (sniffling) she died and suffered without ..(starts balling) WITHOUT ME BY HER SIDE TO PROTECT HERRERRRR...(falls onto Yui balling and crying her eyes out)."

Yui; I...(she relaxes after tensing up, she wraps her arms around Hope and Trys to comfort her) Hope it's alright, I'm sure you did everything you could for her."

Hope; but...(making exhasperated noises) she...she...oh Kokoroooo...(Crys harder)"

Yui; Shhh it'll be alright Hope, here (lets go of her, sits down and before she can even signal hope to Hope falls on top of her crying heavily, Yui embraces her and rubs her back) it'll be alright, I mean, you're here with her now, she may not know and it's up to you if she needs to know or not, either way, you're here to protect and watch over her now."

Hope; (stops balling and stops crying as much) y-you think so?"

Yui; (smiling looking in Hope's eyes) I know you can take care of her, hell if I can take care of the girl I love you can do the same for your...(her eyes widen and she starts to blush, Hope smiles and giggles a little) Y...you didn't hear that."

Hope; (sniffles, no longer crying) so (catching her breath), who is she?"

Yui; (looks away) I-I can't tell you that..."

Hope; well (snorts and sniffles a little) you take care of all of us pretty well, but is iiiit..."

Yui's eyes widen as she begins to say the name, Yui covers Hope's mouth her hands.

Yui; SHHHHHHHHHH!"

Hope looks into yui's eyes and studies her face, one of Yui's hands still over her mouth, she pokes Yui, holds up both her hands in Yui's sight of view, one hand she holds up one finger, the other two.
Yui starts to say something, takes in deep breath and opens mouth...pauses, breathes out, points to the hand with two fingers up, removes her hand from Hope's mouth.

Hope; hmmm (sniffles) interesting, but understandable, I have a pretty good idea but, your secret's safe with me."

Yui; (angry look) promiiise!?"

Hope; (nods head) Girl's honor"

Yui; (relaxes) ok... But...was there...anything else you had to say about ...your uhmmm death?"

Hope; I...ughhh (puts hand on head) you know ...I honestly can't remember why I was crying or anything I said to you...I have a headache now too...(rubs head)

Yui; that's...you know that's ok we can talk more about it later. But Hope...could you get off my lap now please...I'm starting to feel a little awkward."

Hope; OH! (jumps off of her) I'm so sorry!"

Yui; (confused) that's...alright lets (stands up) just get back, I hope Yusa and Kokoro are handling things alright."

Hope; huh? Did u just call her by her name?"

Yui; mmm? Yeah, I don't think it's...proper if I call her what I did, that's for you to call her."

Hope; Ohhh..(blushing smiles nervously) heheh...WAIT!? KOKO'S 4TH IN CHARGE!?"

Yui; mmm yeahhhhh, I trust her after you, and I always sensed a closeness between you two so it just seemed fitting to me. Luca is 5Th in charge."

Hope; ...(has strange look on her face)"

Yui; what is it?"

Hope; I just...have this bad feeling about something..."

Yui; maybe...try to listen to whatever it is that's telling you that and see if you can gather what. (Hope gives her a "what the FUCK are you talking about crazy" look) Well don't look at me like that! I just...have a feeling myself about something. Just try"

Hope shrugs her shoulders, closes her eyes and focuses, after a couple minutes Yui gets impatient.

Yui; WELL!?"

Hope; (says nothing for another minute, then opens her eyes sharply and wide) We need to go (she takes off walking fast)."

Yui; (following after her) wait! ...what did you see or hear or..."

Hope; It's Lina, and...The truth of the twins, Kokoro...(starts running as fast as she can)"
