Ohoy all ye faithful readers! I am glad you seemed enjoy chapter nine and that Aaron's relationship with Haley was appreciated. She might make a reappearance, I am undecided.
Be hold, here be chapter ten! It is short (shortest one yet) and full of Lila-is-a-bitch-ness. Apologies in advance to any Lila-fans out there!

Chapter ten
What happened with Lila
When Spencer was enrolled in the FBI academy he had been feeling really lonely from time to time. He had just turned 20 when he had met Lila Archer, a young actress. They had been studying stalker cases and the trainees had been allowed to be involved in the cases to learn. The case Spencer had been involved with was regarding this particular actress.
FBI quickly managed to close the case without much trouble. Spencer had during the case had a few moments to speak with Lila and had quickly become very smitten with the actress. For some reason he couldn't understand Lila seemed to have a genuine interest in him as well.
After the case closed they had stayed in touch and eventually started dating. Spencer fell in love with her and after telling her this she had told him the same. He remember thinking "This is it. This is the right person for me." Yes, Spencer was very happy indeed.
For a while everything went well. Everything changed after Spencer had got to know Penelope. When he told Lila about possibly wanting to drop out of the academy she tried to convince him not to. She claimed that this is what he really wanted to do and that dropping out would mean loosing himself. And since Lila was in love with this Spencer she told him that she wouldn't stick around if he threw away his dream. So Spencer stayed in the academy and moved in with Lila.
During this time his friendship with Penelope was growing. Penelope had told him that he didn't seem to be happy at the academy while Lila claimed this was necessary for his happiness. Spencer felt really confused, and he hated feeling confused.
Once he tried to bring up what he had discussed with Penelope, but this caused Lila to freak out and in the end she forbade him to meet her again. She said that since they were in love he shouldn't be listening to advice from this woman. Spencer had frowned at this, but not commented. He really didn't like to fight with Lila.
He did not, however, stop meeting Penelope. She was only a friend after all and Lila had plenty of male friends, so why couldn't Spencer have a female one?
In retrospect Spencer thought that he really should have broken it off with Lila after her demanding him to stop seeing his friends. It would have saved him a lot of heartache.
One day when he was meeting Penelope for coffee Lila had followed him. As soon as they had sat down at a table Lila had stormed in, making quite the scene with her yelling. The event had even ended up in the tabloids after. She had basically dragged Spencer out. The biggest argument they ever had followed and ended with Spencer somehow agreeing that he had done something wrong. Nice words of love and commitment had been spoken and they want to bed.
Penelope, of course, did not take this lying down. She was not the one to be ignored. One day about a month after the incident at the coffee shop she cornered Spencer, demanding to know why he was shutting her out.
Spencer claimed that he wasn't. He was just focusing on Lila right now since she was really emotional. When Penelope asked how he was doing he said everything was good. He and Lila loved each other after all, right? He ignored the fact that it was obvious she didn't believe him.
Feeling guilty over speaking to Penelope even though Lila didn't want him to, he decided to surprise her. He decided to buy her a bracelet she had been eyeing at a jewelry store not far from their home. It was more than he cold afford, but she was worth it, right?
He soon came to regret the whole thing as the first thing he saw was two naked bodies entangled together on the kitchen table. Frozen at the spot he couldn't tear his eyes away from the naked pair. Lila had even looked up, meeting his eyes. Then she smirked.
Never had Spencer thought a change of expression in another person could hurt this much. That one smirk on Lila's face caused his world to fall apart. In shock he backed out and threw the door closed behind him before running down the stairs.
To this day Spencer can't remember how he managed to find his way to Penelope's apartment, but somehow he did. She wasn't home so he had simply sat down outside waiting for her. After what felt like hours, but in reality was only 20 minutes she showed up.
Penelope was in chock when she saw the mess that was Spencer Reid sitting down outside her apartment. He had managed to tell her what he walked in on and two days later Spencer and Penelope retrieved his belongings when Lila wasn't home, Spencer feeling too heartbroken to face her. Not long after that Spencer left the academy and moved.
In retrospect, even though it had felt horrible at the time, Spencer thought it was probably good the relationship with Lila had ended when it did. If not he believed that he probably wouldn't have left the FBI and he would never had met Aaron and the others. If he had somehow managed to meet them he certainly wouldn't be playing with them.
No, it was all for the best Spencer decided as he drifted asleep, thoughts now focused on Aaron and the wonderful evening shared with the singer.
Alright, what did you think? Too much? Too cliché? I am not all that pleased with this chapter I have to admit, it has been re-written three times and I'm still not sure about it. Appearently I simply doesn't do angst all that well. I do however think that this is necessary to fully understand any issues Spencer might have regarding relationships.
So yeah, reviews are as always appreciated.
