Breathing heavily, Jellal tried to stay awake, but his vision was cloudy and his conscience was slipping. After hours of whipping and electrocuting, he couldn't feel anything anymore, he was just exhausted. He didn't know how he endured the torture but his mind just wouldn't shut down. There were times where he just wanted to collapse but he couldn't. It was frustrating but now Minerva was taking a break again and he just felt utterly drained.

When he caught a glimpse of his bloodied body, he couldn't believe it. He was supposed to avenge Lucy, but in the end, he was being used for entertainment. It was a harsh blow to his pride and dignity. And he felt pathetic that he even promised Lucy he would get revenge. But he was captured. He was still a weakling after all.

What did he expect?

"I was weak from the very beginning," Jellal thought solemnly, closing his eyes and sighing in relief.

Whatever happened next, he was welcoming with open arms. Perhaps everything was his fault. If only he didn't bother with her, maybe she would be awake right now. She wouldn't have been shot if she fell for Gray instead. She would be better off without him. He hoped that she would wake up and realize that. It hurt but it was the truth.

He didn't deserve her at all.

"Well, well, looks like he's finally giving up," Minerva said, clicking her tongue, "Anyhow, it was fun being with you."

She took out a gun from her belt and pointed it at Jellal's head, smirking, "Farewell, Jella—"

"Let him go you bitch!"

The door to the basement suddenly opened and when Minerva turned around, she saw Analee running towards her with a ferocious look on her face. The brunette growled lowly in her throat and was about to fire her gun when she saw Jellal.

Analee's eyes widened and she covered her mouth as she quivered, "J-Jellal… y-you…"

The bluenette raised his head and tried to make out who was speaking to him but he could only distinguish colors. He huffed, swallowing thickly, "A-Analee?"

"It's me," the said woman said and turned to Minerva, snarling, "What the fuck did you do to him?!"

The leader laughed, caressing her blood-covered whip, "Oh, you know. Whipping, electrocuting and slicing. Very fun, don't you think?"

Analee hissed and was about to curse her once more when she heard her group arriving behind her, stopping into a drift with a gasp. She turned around and saw exactly what she expected to see. Their eyes were wide with fear and shock as they drank in Jellal's agonizing shape. Cuts, gashes and lacerations covered his body. They looked away from the gruesome display and all swore under their breaths.

Gajeel gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, "Minerva," he hissed and took out his gun. "You will fucking pay for this!" And he pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Haru! Elie! Get Jellal out of those cuffs!" Analee ordered, fending off an enemy. She ducked down and stuck a knife in the opponent's chest before kicking him away. She growled, "Be gentle, alright?!"

The two saluted, "Of course!"

Analee cursed under her breath and jumped up when someone attempted to trip her. She landed on an enemy's shoulders and she grinned evilly. She held his head, tilting it back and cracked it. She hopped off and landed on the ground soundlessly, the body falling dead before her. With a satisfied smile, she fired her gun at two men who charged aimlessly at her.

"Tch," she clicked her tongue, "I didn't know they were this weak—"

A bullet grazed her arm and she flinched, staring at Sting who glared at her, "Watch your words, bitch."

Analee smirked, "Ah, it's Eucliffe."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Damn, Jellal's been through so much," Gajeel said. A woman ran towards him and he pressed the tip of the gun against her head and fired. He clawed his fingers through his hair, "Lucy would kill me if she found out about this."

"Too bad for you."

Gajeel turned around to face a man with raven hair. He tilted his head back, "I didn't enjoy watching him bleed and it hurt my ears when he screamed." He sighed and took out two shot guns, spinning them in his hands, "But then again… that's just me."

"Rogue!" Gajeel barked, gritting his teeth and pointing his gun at him, "You bastard! You betrayed Lucy? How could you?!"

The man looked amused. "I suppose I did." He pulled one of the gun's trigger and Gajeel moved to the side, the bullet just flying past his ear.

"Don't worry; I didn't reveal to them anything about the gang. I left for good reasons. If I knew that her gang would be in danger, I wouldn't have joined Tiger Gang."

Gajeel pointed his gun behind him and shot a man who attempted to sneak up from behind, "You can still come back, Rogue!"

The man frowned, closing his eyes and pulling the trigger.

"I don't know about that, Gajeel."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Jellal? Jellal!" Elie cried out, patting the bluenette's cheek gently. His eyes were shut tightly and Haru was working on his cuffs. At some point, Rin and Len arrived to fend off enemies who tried to stop them from freeing him.

Rin glared at the men, "Anyone who tries to interfere with Elie and Haru—"

"—will be killed by our hands!" Len finished, his eyes narrowed into slits. The twins were known because they could kill with their bare hands. It was cruel and ghastly but it was just what Lucy needed for her gang.

A man from the crowd laughed, clutching his stomach, "Can you believe this? Two little children will use their bare hands to kill us!"

Another snickered, "I suppose War Maiden made them a little too arrogant," he smirked, "And not to mention delusional."

Haru stopped what he was doing to glance over his shoulder, his eyes piercing through the man's soul, "You're going to regret that in just a bit—ah! This one's done!" He freed Jellal's feet and then worked with the cuffs on his wrists next.

One of the men laughed, "What are you talking about—" he choked as Len strangled his neck with one hand and lifted him.

He shot him a dangerous look and a malicious grin spread across his face, "Farewell to you, dear opponent." He slammed the man down to the ground and Rin took a few steps backward. Then she ran and somersaulted in the air before landing on the man's face. He howled in agony and Rin grinned just as wickedly as her twin.

The men behind her stepped back in fear as she slowly began to approach them, her eyes widening in excitement and eagerness.

Len, however, was busying himself with his opponent. He pushed him forward until he was leaning against his knees and grabbed his arms, tugging them roughly. They dislocated and when he was satisfied, he left to help his dear sister.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Shit, where did he go?"

Zen stepped silently behind a woman mentally sighed, pitying her. With seconds, he had a knife stuck in her neck. He could hear her screams turning into gurgles as she surrendered defeat, her eyes wide open when she died.

He crouched down and threw a knife behind him, hitting a man in the chest. He dragged the woman's eyelids down and shook his head, "What a shame, you were such a beauty too."

"You did a good job with that one," a fellow assassin told him.

Zen smirked, shrugging, "After seeing Jellal's state," his eyes darkened along with his teammate and they both looked at the said man, "I decided that it's about time I got serious."

"Ah, watch out."

The blonde didn't even spare a glance as he stuck a dagger into someone chest behind him. His teammate cracked the enemy's neck and they both hid back in the shadows.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"You bastard!" Analee thrashed against Sting's hold and tried to break free. She glared at Minerva who stood in front of them, spinning a gun in her hand. Unfortunately, the two decided to gang up on her and were currently about to shoot her.

The blonde chuckled, "I suggest you stay still if you want to die a painless death."

"To hell with you!" Analee growled, "You've done so much to Lucy, and now to Jellal? You will pay for this! Mark my words!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Hang in there, Jellal," Elie whispered, praying silently in her mind, "Haru's almost done!"

The bluenette breathed heavily, trying to make out the voices. He couldn't hear clearly, everything sounded like a buzz. His vision was hazy too.

How pathetic.

"Stay awake, Jellal," Haru whispered, gritting his teeth as he struggled to break the cuffs. He fiddled with the knife again and continued to pull, "For Lucy."

Jellal's eyes shot open and he coughed out blood, heaving in deep breaths. He could make out Elie's brown hair and Haru's white strands but other than that, the battlefield in front of him was still cloudy.

"Jellal!" Elie cried out, "You had us worried sick!"

The said man winced, struggling to speak, "Where… Minerva…?"

Elie frowned, "She's battling Analee."

"Aha! You're free!" Haru interrupted and Jellal fell forward. "Ah, crap!" He hurried to catch him from falling and they sat him upright, leaning him against the wall.

"How do you feel?" Elie asked, getting a handkerchief from her pocket and wiping the blood on Jellal's chin.

The bluenette trembled slightly, "Tired."

Haru blinked, cocking his head to the side, "And the pain?"

"I can't feel it anymore," Jellal mumbled. After a minute or so, he slowly started to stand up, ignoring the protests of the two. He flinched as he began to feel the effects of his torture once more, "I… avenge… Lucy…"

"Jellal, you have to rest!" Elie cried out while she kicked a man away from them. She took out her gun and fired, "We'll handle them!"

The bluenette shook his head and went into a fighting stance, his eyes dead but filled with killing intent. He mustered up the strength to raise his leg and slammed his heel onto someone's head before speaking, "I don't… want to be…" he spun and drove his elbow in a woman's face, "a nuisance."

"You're not!" Haru and Elie both exclaimed.

Jellal stepped back and lifted his leg until it hit an enemy's chin. He swung his foot back and slammed it against his face. With a heavy sigh, Jellal stepped on his throat and waited patiently for the man to die of suffocation. He looked around and spotted Analee being held back by Sting. He frowned, "Analee's in trouble. Help her."

The brunette frowned worriedly, "B-But what about you?"

"I'll be fine."

Haru flinched at how firm he sounded and gripped Elie's hand. He stared into her eyes, "We have to trust him, Elie."

The woman gritted her teeth, closing her eyes. Nevertheless, she nodded and ran towards Analee with Haru, leaving Jellal who managed to pick up a forgotten gun on the floor.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Rin's jaw dropped, "W-What is—"

"—Jellal-sama doing?!" Len finished. Both their eyes were wide as they saw Jellal slice off the head of an enemy. He looked breathless and worn out, but the fire in his eyes kept burning, killing as many enemies as he could. It was a miracle that he was still awake. With all the blood he lost, he was bound to faint any time now.

An opponent coming from behind them laughed mockingly, "Who would've known that he still had the strength in him to kill? Ah, well, it's entertaining to see him struggling."

"Shut up."

Len strangled the man's neck and Rin stuck a knife in his back. Len smirked, "There is a certain part on your back where you can strike the heart and shatter the spinal cord altogether. Fun, eh?"

But the man didn't answer for he was already dead.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"You don't have to do this!"

Rogue ducked down and slammed his elbow in Gajeel's stomach. The man coughed and growled, maintaining composure. He spun and fired his gun at two enemies and then pointed it at Rogue, pulling the trigger.

The opponent moved to the side and kicked to the right. Gajeel dodged and jumped up when Rogue swung his leg under him. With a click of his tongue, he pointed his gun at Gajeel.

"Damn it," the man cursed and back flipped. He landed on his feet and immediately crouched low as bullets flew just above his head. Rogue swore and reloaded his gun, glaring at his enemy while he did.

Gajeel picked up a pistol on the floor and twirled it in his fingers before firing it at a woman behind him. He ran and jumped, soaring over Rogue. He landed behind him and he pointed the gun at his head, "Come back to the Crossed Heart, Rogue."

The said man gripped Gajeel's wrist with both hands and lifted him, slamming his body on the floor. He aimed his gun at him, "I can't."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One.

He turned around and stuck a knife in someone's chest, pulling it out and piercing her body once more.

Two.

An enemy grasped his shoulder and he tensed, his finger freezing from pulling the trigger of the gun he held. With a wicked smile, he turned around and sliced the hand off. The man screamed and Jellal stepped back, jamming his knee against his abdomen. He pressed the cold tip of the gun against his forehead and fired.

Three.

An enemy ran towards him and he gripped the collar of his shirt, staring at him with blank eyes. Jellal then slammed his knee against the man's groin and kicked him on the torso. A woman sauntered over to him, smirking. "Naw, don't want to hit a lady now, do you?"

"I couldn't care less," Jellal replied and grabbed her arm, breaking it. She screamed in pain and the bluenette knocked her out with a right hook to the jaw. He craned his neck and sighed, "Now, where is she?"

"Jellal! Take a break and rest, please!" He heard Analee yelling and he searched for her. He then found her seconds later, thrashing in the arms of Sting Eucliffe with Haru and Elie passed out on the floor not far from them.

His eyes darkened and pointed his gun at the blonde, blazing with fury.

"Is he planning to shoot me from there?" Sting said, amused. "I guess he was stupider than I thought."

Jellal steadied his breathing and threw a dagger at a woman sneaking up on him from behind. Inhaling calmly, he closed his eyes and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

Sting yelled in pain as the bullet hit him on the shoulder. He released Analee and clutched the bleeding wound with his hand, growling at the bluenette who was blowing his gun. He placed it over his shoulder and smirked while looking down at him with disgust.

"Shit, this hurts," the blonde whispered and took out his weapon. He directed it at Jellal, "To hell with you!"

Before he could fire though, Analee kicked the gun away from his hand and tackled him to the floor. She held his throat with both hands, eyes filled with rage staring down at him. "I should've killed you when I saw you last time," she hissed, tightening her grip. The blonde started gasping for air and she grinned, "Need air?"

A bullet whizzed past her and she raised her head, meeting Minerva's gaze. She smirked, "Let go or be killed, your choice."

The brunette frowned and was about to release Sting when someone caught her eye. Grinning widely, she dug her nails in his neck, "None."

Minerva raised a thin, fine brow and smirked, "Well, you asked for it." She threw her gun in the air and caught it, aiming at the woman's head, "Farewell to you, Analee."

"I don't think so."

She gasped and turned around, barely dodging the knife thrown at her. She stood up and jumped back, growling, "Jellal Fernandes!"

The said man cocked his head to the side, his face impassive as he threw another knife at her. She hissed and stepped to the side. But as soon as she did, he fired his gun and she fell to the floor, the bullet grazing her leg. She sneered, "You little…!"

The corner of his lips twitched into an amused smirk, "Hmm?"

"You're not supposed to be able to move!" Minerva screeched, shooting Jellal carelessly. They all missed and he merely stood there, playing with a blade in hand.

He shrugged, "It's better to ignore the pain."

Analee decided to cut in, "You might faint due to blood loss, Jellal. You need to rest."

"I'm fine, Analee," he mumbled, his vision blurring all of a sudden. His world tilted and he regained balance, breathing heavily, "Just… fine."

The blue-haired man staggered backwards and planted his feet firmly to the ground, trying to make out Minerva's vicious screaming through his throbbing head. He gritted his teeth and growled, "Shut up!"

The woman's eyes flashed dangerously and she sneered, "How dare you… I'll kill you!" And she ran towards him, her knife gripped tightly in her hand.

Jellal barely had the time to evade the blade as she thrust it at him, slicing off bits of his hair. He wiped the blood on his lip with his thumb and spun behind her. He slammed his hand against the back of her neck and she yelped, falling to the ground with a loud thump. He reloaded his gun and pressed his bare foot on her abdomen, pointing his weapon at her.

"Any last words, Minerva?" he asked calmly, his eyes dead.

The said woman snarled, gripping his ankle, "I don't think so." She flipped him over and he landed on his back, grunting. His eyes widened at the sight of a knife and he quickly rolled to the side. He stood up and was forced to crouch once more as bullets flew past him.

He swore and searched for a weapon. His eyes landed on a revolver and he quickly took it, pulling the trigger at Minerva. He found it to be empty and threw it away, nibbling on his bottom lip as his eyes roamed the room for another firearm.

"You're not getting off that easy."

He glanced at the woman and shouted, "Analee!"

"I'm busy here!" the woman yelled back, evading Sting's wild punches. She growled and drove her knee in his stomach before uncurling her leg and slamming it on his back.

"Well, I was just going to ask for a gun," Jellal said, studying his enemy.

Analee bended back as Sting thrust a knife at her and she nodded, "Alright. Hold on." She touched the floor with her hands and flipped, her feet colliding with the blonde's face. He cried out and touched his cheek, baring his teeth at her.

She rolled her eyes, "Whatever."

"You annoy me," he hissed, spinning the blade in his hands.

Analee grinned lazily, "Well, the feeling's mutual."

Jellal swallowed a lump in his throat, his body ducking and dodging Minerva's bullets, "O-Oi! Analee!"

"Give me a sec!"

"I don't have a sec!" The bluenette cried out, throwing a random dagger at his opponent. The woman sidestepped, smirking at him.

"You're not escaping me."

Jellal cussed and threaded his fingers through his hair, searching for something to defend himself with. When he found none, he faced Minerva again, the woman getting closer and closer. Her wicked smile merely widened at his panicked face. "I'm impressed you got this far," she started, grinning, "but this is the end, Fernandes."

He fisted his hands and ignored his stinging wounds, feeling his world tilt again. He pressed his foot hard on the floor, steadying himself once more.

"You… will… die…" he rasped, blinking his eyes rapidly in an attempt to clear his vision.

Analee looked over her shoulder as she wrestled with Sting, her eyes widening, "Jellal! Look out!"

The bluenette grunted as he stumbled to the side, just missing the bullet. He sighed in relief and sneered, "Analee, the gun!"

The brunette gasped for air, "I… can't… breathe!"

Jellal whipped around to see Sting strangling her throat and he almost ran towards her, but stopped, seeing Zen creeping up behind the blonde. He turned back to Minerva to see her gun just inches away from his face and he froze.

A cheeky grin stretched her face and she laughed, "You'll see Heartfilia in heaven now so you should be happy—"

"Jellal!"

He looked up to find Rin holding Minerva back, the girl latched onto her back. She held Minerva's arms, pointing the gun at the ceiling, accidentally pulling the trigger. Rin yelped as Minerva's head hit hers and they both swayed back.

Len came into view, holding a shotgun in his hands. He quickly ran towards Jellal, "Here's a gun!" And he threw it at him.

The bluenette gulped, watching it soar across the room. He stepped back and jumped, catching the weapon in his hand. He landed on his knee and foot as he aimed it at Minerva, his breathing haggard.

Rin howled in pain, "You only have one chance Jellal! As soon as I let go of her, you have to fire!"

"Alright," Jellal agreed, nodding his head. He fixed his aim and sucked in a deep breath, closing his eyes. He heard Len counting and Rin and Minerva screaming at each other.

"Nine…"

His enemy growled, "You bitch!"

"Ten!"

Jellal's eyes shot open as Rin released the enemy, her body falling into Len's arms. Minerva scrambled for her gun and directed it at him, her eyes wide in anticipation.

And just as she pulled the trigger, he fired his.

Bang!
