Later that day Jade was in Escala holding Teddy on her lap, holding him so that he was standing on her legs and he was gurgling happily as Jade stuck her tongue out at him.
Gail came back into the room and smiled "Oh, hello dear, I didn't know you were coming round?"
"I wanted to see my little brother, and I needed to see my Dad as well. I told Ana I'd look after Teddy whilst she went for a nap, she looked exhausted"
"Do you want something to eat? Something to drink? Is Luke here today?"
"He's taken the kids to see his family today. I could actually really do with something to eat, if that's okay?"
"Anything in particular?"
Jade stood up, putting Teddy on her hip as he fiddled with her necklace "Anything, everything you cook is good Gail"
She smiled and began rummaging through the fridge, taking out a container and putting it into a pan and starting to heat it through.
"Your father should be back in a few minutes, is everything okay?"
"Not really. I don't want to talk about it much though"
Gail managed an encouraging smile and continued stirring the food.
Twenty minutes later Taylor and Christian walked into the room and stopped in surprise, seeing Jade there with Teddy.
"Jade, well I didn't expect to see you here- is everything okay?"
She paused, glancing at Teddy momentarily "Uh, not really, can we talk? Ana's having a rest"
Christian nodded slightly and saw Gail tipping the chicken stew out of the pan and into a bowl and reached out for Teddy, taking his son.
"you're looking very pale, you can eat that in my office"
Jade rolled her eyes but gratefully accepted the bowl and fork from Gail and followed Christian into the Study.
He was sat behind the desk with Teddy sat on his knee, attempting to eat a toy in his hands as Jade sat on the chair opposite, cross legged and picking at the stew.
"What's wrong? What's happened?"
"Simon came over this morning... apparently Lincoln James's parents have decided that they want a DNA test to see if they are my biological grandparents, and they want to see my kids if they are. I uh, I went over there earlier and told them to go fuck themselves even if they are related to me. Didn't go down too well, I told them that you were my dad regardless and they didn't seem to like that either. I think I also made it pretty clear that I was in no way sorry for what I did to their son… So I don't know what to do"
Christian had managed to rush through a DNA test with a private clinic for the following day once he had seen how much the situation affected his daughter, and wanted it sorted as soon as possible.
Luke had been incredibly angry when Jade had told him about the James's, swearing and stomping around their kitchen muttering about how they were rude and selfish, as angry at their sense of entitlement as he was at the fact they had the audacity to only bother after all this time.
Jade's appointment was at midday but she wanted to see Elena before going to talk about the situation, as she was an intrinsic part of it, and they hadn't seen each other for a while.
Jade had taken Faith with her and had been pleasantly surprised by how prepared her mother was for a child in her house, giving Faith a small snack and a juice box.
Elena handed Jess a drink and sat down on the seat opposite her, looking confused
"Why… Why have they waited for so long to ask to see your children though? That's what confuses me. If they really wanted to see the kids then surely they could have done that several years ago when Faith was born?"
"That's what I was thinking. The trial was ages ago, the fact that Lincoln could have been my father was broadcasted all over the courtroom, and they were there. I don't know if maybe that was the first time that they were really aware that he could be my biological father and then perhaps they have been working out where they stand with access to the kids. They didn't seem that bothered about seeing me, despite the fact I would be their Granddaughter"
"The James's aren't the type to hear 'no' very often, they probably thought you'd just give in. Clearly they don't know you at all"
Faith was kneeling at the coffee table and drawing a picture on the paper Elena had put out for her and some crayons, and she had her tongue out as she scribbled intently. Elena glanced at her Granddaughter and smiled slightly before glancing back at Jade "What are you going to do?"
"I'll do the DNA test, then if it comes back that Lincoln James is –was- my dad, then I will refuse them any contact. I've got two parents and then Ari, Carrick and Grace are my Grandparents, my kids already know a certain set of family, Charlotte and Jackson come home at the end of the week, and I don't want them around the James's. How am I ever going to my kids what I did to Lincoln, eh?"
Elena shook her head "Well, exactly. We should probably get going soon if we want to beat the traffic"
Faith turned around, waving the random scribbles on the paper around "Nana Lena, look what I drew"
Elena took the paper and gasped "That's amazing Faith! It's beautiful, shall we put it on the wall?"
Faith was beaming and nodded, following Elena out into the kitchen, where she regularly put the little pictures up.
It wasn't until two days later when the DNA results came back and Christian, Luke, Jade and the James's were sat in Simon's office, and Carrick was standing behind his co-worker, jaw clenched and looking distracted.
Simon managed an encouraging smile at Jade, who only managed a vague nod in response.
Simon fiddled with the envelope that contained the results "Can I just say at the start of this that Jade Sawyer has said that she will deny access to the James's if the DNA test results come back in their favour. Despite this, I am grateful that both Christian Grey, Jade Sawyer and Edward James for all agreeing to take DNA samples so that we could confirm one parent and rule out the other"
Jade shuffled in her seat "Please just get on with it"
Simon nodded and opened the envelope, taking out the sheet of paper as Jade felt Christian's hand grasp her own quickly before Simon spoke.
"Jade Sawyer's father is… Christian Grey"
There was a collective gasp of relief from a majority of the room and Jade turned and tearfully hugged Christian, feeling how tightly he was holding her back.
After a minute Jade pulled back and looked at the Lincoln's with a harsh look "I will not apologise for what I did to your son, he was a terrible person and he would have killed me, my mother and my pregnant step-mother. Sorry that your son was an ass-hole, but do not ever go near, or try to go near my children ever again"
She glanced at Christian, who looked as though he was about to cry "come on Dad, we should go"
Thought that was the only proper conclusion to the DNA mystery we've had since chapter 1.
Let me know what you want to see and what you thought x
