Chapter 7- Scorpius POV
A few days later, I headed up to my dorm room after charms class with Albus. We were planning on getting some homework done before visiting Rose. She still wasn't moving any. On my bed I found a box of chocolates. I assumed these were from my mum. She would randomly send me some throughout the year. I ripped open the red packaging and took a bite of the chocolate. I began to feel kind of fuzzy and happy inside. It was rather pleasant. Suddenly, all of my thoughts began to be zone in one thing at once. It was rather dizzying. Jane Brown. Jane Brown. What a pretty name. I giggled. No a man doesn't giggle and Jane needs a man. I laughed.
"Scorpius mate come on down we have to get working on this," Albus called from the stairs.
"Albus," I began as I walked down the silver stairs, "Do think she likes me?" My voice had become airy.
"Who? Rose? Why does it matter you're getting married anyway," He laughed at himself.
"No! Not Rose! Jane Brown," When I said her name I felt something tickle my throat.
"Jane? That bimbo?" I immediately through a pillow at him, "I'll be right back mate," Albus sprinted up my stairs.
He quickly returned carrying the box of chocolates, "Did you eat these?" I nodded. Al sighed before grabbing my arm and saying, "Well come on then,"
"Where are going?" I wondered aloud.
"To meet up with Jane," He mused.
"Really!" I exclaimed. I began jumping up and down in the middle of the hallway. Albus let out an exasperated sigh before continuing to drag me down the hallway.
As we began to head towards the dungeons I had my doubts about our true destiny, "Where are we meeting Jane?"
"She's taking extra lessons with Zabini," Oh that makes sense! She did always seem to be fumbling through some classes maybe I could tutor her then I would be able to get to know her better and start a relationship! Just like I did Rose. Rose, the red headed girl I shared my dorm with, she was pretty but she wasn't Jane. She was better but that isn't possible Jane's the best. Merlin I was confused. I shook my head.
Quickly, Albus and I arrived at my professor's office. This is when the nerves set in. I was about to meet the girl of my dreams. Jane was wasn't she? Albus knocked on the office door. My professor who looked confused to see us answered it. Albus in a hushed voice explained our presence though. "He's taken quite the love potion professor can you whip up a cure?" It seemed like I was a million miles from the conversation Albus's words no quite registering since my thoughts were completely focused on Jane.
"Al do I look ok?" I asked poking him in the side as we entered.
"Bloody brilliant," He replied without even glancing in my direction although the answer was satisfactory enough.
"Where's Jane?" I whined.
"She'll be here in a minute," Professor Zabini cut in before Albus could strangle me. I nodded enthusiastically, "Here you go Scorpius," Zabini handed me a concoction.
I looked at the liquid curiously, "What is it?"
"It's something for the nerves now drink it!" Albus snapped.
I downed the glass in one gulp and all my excitement and bliss from a minute ago faded.
"What just happened?" I looked at the two men staring at me.
"Jane Brown decided to put you under a bloody strong love potion. You are so lucky Rose is in the hospital wing and couldn't see that." Albus shook his head.
I nodded my head in agreement.
"Well boys I best be off to bed now that that is over," Our professor stood chuckling at us.
Albus and I took that as our cue to leave, "Thank you professor," I smiled at him.
"Anytime Scorpius just avoid eating random chocolates without notes next times," I promised him I would abide by his advise before heading out of the potion master office.
"You're a bloody idiot Scorp," Albus laughed.
"Sod off!" I shoved him.
As Albus and I play fought I had a sudden realization, "This weekend's a Hogsmeades visit," Albus nodded as if I was still under a potion, "Rose told my mom she would meet her there to go shopping but now she can't. Rose is going to be mortified that she missed this not to mention that I have to be the one to send a letter to my mom saying Rose is poisoned." Albus laughed at me, "This is not funny!" I smacked Albus for laughing at my misery. "My mom is a tiger mother she will be mortified that I let Rose get poisoned and that it is serious enough that she can't go shopping,"
"Of course she can't go shopping she can't even move!" Al pointed out. "Your life bloody sucks today doesn't it,"
"How many times do I have to tell you to sod off before you actually do?" We reached my dorm and I pulled out a piece of parchment to begin to write my mum.
Dear Mum
There was a bit of an accident at school a few days ago involving Rose. She was poisoned because someone tried to use veritaserum on her but left out an ingredient. She, unfortunately, will not be able to attend your shopping trip this weekend. Due to the fact that she in unconscious. She will most likely be awake in three weeks. I'll see you soon.
Much love,
Scorpius
I sent my owl out with the letter. I knew my mum wouldn't be happy to hear this news but of course it was very upsetting news.
The next day I received a reply from my mum.
Dear Scorpius,
That is dreadful! Why did you let her drink that? You must keep me updated on her progress! I was so looking forward to meeting Rose I do hope she gets better quickly and in order to help her out I have taken it upon myself to go ahead and buy her a dress. I bought it in several sizes so no need to worry about that and I have seen plenty of pictures of Rose to know what would look good with that fiery hair of hers. She will look absolutely stunning at our ball!
xoxo
Mum
I stared at the note for a minute. This was not my intent at all. My mum was not supposed to buy Rose a dress although I guess this isn't the worst thing that could happen. Just then Jane Brown walked by me, "Hi Scorpy," She waved seductively at me.
It was like as soon as Rose wasn't walking the halls every day she felt that she could pounce. Jane is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention I hate the nickname Scorpy, Rose never called me Scorpy. I shook my head before stuffing the letter from my from mum in my bag.
It was two weeks before we got much progress out of Rose besides movements like little kicks or twitches. It was Albus, Hugo and I sitting with Rose when it occurred.
Rose was laying with her red hair splattered across the white pillow like normal when she began to attempt to speak. At first it was incoherent, "S-Sc," but gradually she began to form words, "Scor-Scorp-ius," or more specifically one word.
"I'm right here Rose, I'm right here," I grasped her hand.
"Stay," She whispered.
"I wouldn't dream of leaving," I replied without hesitation to her perfectly freckled face.
It was three more days before Rose opened her eyes. During those three days Rose had murmured things sometimes coherently other times not. On the day in which Rose opened her eyes I walked in to see Lysander Scamander, my main suspect for poisoning Rose, holding her hand.
"Lysander what are you doing here?" My voice was cold.
"I'm a friend visiting a friend that's all," The blonde boy didn't look up from Rose's pale face as he spoke.
"Did you do this?" I was being blunt but I didn't care.
This time he did look up, "I love her. I would never do this to her on purpose," his voice was pleading.
"What about on accident?" I took a step closer to the boy, my fists clenching. I knew he was about to confess and I was about to make him pay.
"I love her," Lysander's voice broke. I knew it was my fault that he was this broken, not directly, but he didn't know neither Rose nor myself had no choice in this relationship.
"You've said that," I nodded.
"Do you love her?" Blue eyes pierced me.
"Yes," I replied honestly, "I love her," It was true. I hadn't realized I loved the fiery girl lying in the hospital bed beside me until I was forced to. Then I realized I always had.
"If-if you love her then you must know it was an accident," Lysander hung his head as if saying these words were killing him.
In a swift motion I pulled my arm back and punched him. In that exact moment a little voice spoke, "Scor-Scorp-ius please don-don't," Her words her slow and slurred but I still knew that voice anywhere. It was Rose Weasley. My Rose. My head snapped over to her to see that her eyes were open and trained on me.
"Rose!" I rushed to her side. She gave a faint smile.
"Water," She breathed the request but I understood. I grabbed one of the glasses from a side cabinet, filled it up and attempted to hand it to her. However, her hands were shaking too much to hold the glass properly so I cupped my hand around hers and aided her.
"How long-" I nodded showing that I understood what she was trying to say. Each word was hard on her lungs.
"It's been three weeks, but you were two weeks ahead on work, which I've been handing in as it goes, so really you're only a week behind."
She was silent for a moment before something seemed to occur to her, "What happened?"
"I was wondering when you were going to ask that," With a small glance at Lysander I explained the story involving the veritaserum and how if she hadn't been in potions the result might have been very different. "I'm going to go get Madame Patil. She said to tell her when you woke up," I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before heading over to the office.
"Madame Patil, Rose has woken up," I announced.
"Wonderful!" She exclaimed grabbing several potions before following me to the white bed just as Lysander was leaving. Madame Patil began handing several multi colored potions to Rose. "And here is a sleeping draught you still need more rest," Madame Patil practically stuffed it down Rose's throat as the red-headed girl was trying to talk.
"Scorpius," Rose managed to say just before she fell asleep, "Why did Lysander just apologize to me?" I was going to kill him.
So what do you think? Jane Browns playing dirty and trying to get with Rose's Scorpius! Please review!
