"Hello Lib!" Teddy's voice spread through the phone. Teddy and i had remained best friends over the years. We lived together for five until he proposed to Lex and they were now married with my little god son, Mason.

"Hey Ted, um can you come over? Just you for now"

"Are you alright?!" I smiled Teddy and i were closer than ever if that was possible. Lex had realized we were only friends when she moved into our old apartment with us after they had been dating for two years. She was now one of my closest friends.

"I'm okay, just come as quick as you can"

"See you in 20" he hung up. I had taken some time off so the only person who knew Avery was mine was Abby. Kate had moved over seas so i would have to face time her to tell her soon before Teddy blabbed to everyone.

20 minuets later Teddy was walking into the apartment with his key. Whenever Lex and him got into a fight he often took up station in the guest bedroom since his parents lived in California still and the Grant home was far on the east coast. Though this year thanksgiving would take place on the east coast and it was only a week away.

"Lib! I'm here! What's going on?!" He huffed catching his breath

"Did you run here?" I laughed as he kissed my cheek and glared at me as he went to get water in the kitchen.

"So, what's up?" He called from the living room as i went to Avery's room and took her little hand into mine. She smiled shortly as she followed me down the hallway. When she saw Teddy she yelped and hid behind my pant leg.

"Lib?" Teddy narrowed his eyes

"This is Avery, i uh.. Adopted her today"

He almost spit out her water "you just went and adopted her?"

"Well no, it was a couple of months in the works but i finally brought her home"

"Moms gonna k-i-l-l you for not telling her" i winced. Emily and Big Gerry had become my parents over the years. I spent holiday's with them and summers when i could and eventually somehow started calling them mom or dad when i spoke to them every night or saw them.

"Crap"

"Bad word" Avery mumbled into my pants.

"You tell her" Teddy crouched down to her level. "Hi Avery, i'm your Uncle Teddy"

Avery looked up towards me and i nodded. She peaked her head out but clutched my leg still.

"Hi" she whispered

"Hey" Teddy chuckled

"I go play now Livvie?" She whispered

"Sure sweetie" i nodded and watched her run back to her room.

"Is she alright?"

"Her mother hit her according to the case file, she's a bit scared of people, loud noises"

"Oh man" he sighed "She's gorgeous"

"She is" i smiled "don't tell Kate yet okay? I'll call her tonight"

"And Fitz?"

I rolled my eyes, he had noticed i never went to California when Fitz was at the house anymore but i told no one except Abby and Quinn what had happened.

"Yeah, i'll tell him"

"Good" he smiled "i have to go pick up Mason from pre school but i will see you friday?"

"Friday" i nodded

"You better call mom" He kissed my head "bye Avery!"

Avery came back out and peaked her head out by the wall.

"Bye Uncle Teddy" she whispered and ran back to her room.

"Bye Libs"

"Bye" i waved

I spent the next couple of hours with Avery. Her favourite colour was pink, she liked to read picture books. She was colouring as i made some pasta for her dinner.

"Night Avery, sweet dreams baby"

She looked up at me with big brown eyes and clutched her teddy bear

"Night livvie" she yawned

I woke up in the middle of the night hearing sobbing and movement in Avery's room. I knocked on her door before opening and turning on the lamp. There in the middle of the room was Avery pulling her bed sheets off of the toddler bed with her face red and tears streaming down her face.

"I so sorry! I didn't mean to!" She cried

I squatted down and watched her flinch as i pushed her hair out of her face

"Avery, what's wrong?"

"I had nightmare! I peed my bed" she sobbed again "i'm sorry! I didn't"

"Hey, it's okay" i pulled her into a hug "it was just an accident" i smiled

"Let's get you cleaned up okay? Tomorrow we can go get some pamper under wears just for night time okay?"

"Kay" she hiccuped. I lifted her up and got a new pair of underwear and pants from the dresser.

"We'll get you some more clothes too kay?"

"Kay" i let her stand in the bath and she clutched my arms as i washed her.

"Do you like the shower?"

"No Livvie" she started crying "my old mommy put me in it when i was bad"

"I'm sorry, i won't do that to you okay? Bath's are to clean your body that's it" she nodded and i cleaned her up.

"You can sleep in my room tonight with me" i smiled and let her into my bed. I watched as she fell asleep and then went into her room to put her sheets to wash and remove the plastic cover making a mental note to buy another before finally getting into bed beside Avery who was sprawled out on the bed. I moved her over and eventually fell asleep.
