LIV'S POV

"Avery is fine, Mase has her back" Teddy said as he convinced me to have a drink.

"This is a lot of people for her Ted. She keeps jumping"

"She's okay Liv, as long as you two can see each other." He smiled and rubbed his hands "your date just got here"

"Jesus, i really forgot about that crap"

"Hey man" Teddy stood at the bar and shook the man's hand. I watched him turn towards me and was surprised to see Senator Davis. I gritted my teeth and glared at Teddy. He knew how much i hated the man and he knew it would go nowhere

"Edison, hello"

"Hey Liv" he kissed my cheek. I internally cringed

"How are you?"

"Better now" he winked "i heard you got yourself a little rugrat"

"She copied me" Teddy chuckled as he walked back towards the table.

"Introduce me to the newest Pope" he grinned as i finished my drink and crossed the room. I watched as Avery was captured by Fitz as he held her while he spoke to Big Gerry. Avery held onto Fitz's neck with one arm until she saw me coming and asked to be put down.

"Mommy! Mommy! Fitz is here! Look!"

"I see" i laughed waving awkwardly to Fitz who smiled. "Avery, this is Senator Davis he wanted to say hello"

"Hello" Avery whispered and surprisingly she ran right back over to Fitz and requested him to lift her up. She went straight into his neck and he stared at us as he rubbed her back.

"Aves? You okay?"

"Yes mommy" she whispered "I go with Fitz now" i watched as Fitz moved to sit with his parents. I sighed and turned back to Edison

"I'm sorry, she's going through a lot right now"

"That's alright, that just means we can dance"

I was ticked off that he was thinking of himself. I watched as Avery sat with Mason and Fitz and i moved to the dance floor. I rolled my eyes constantly as Edison went on and on about his work and how good we would be together.

"Do you mind if i steal her for a few songs?" Fitz suddenly stood beside me. Edison looked at me and i shifted uncomfortably "not at all"

Fitz smiled and took my waist as i held the free hand.

"Thanks for saving me" i huffed out

"You looked like you were trying to solve a math problem and we all know how much you hate math"

I actually let a giggle out. I was always so confused when it came to him. I was angry and hurt but i had missed him so much over the years.

"Liv?"

"Yes?"

"Can we do lunch? To talk? I miss you"

I looked over his shoulder and clenched my jaw

"You don't miss me Fitz"

"Of course i do Livvie" i sighed i hadn't been called that in years unless you count when Avery first came.

"I'm not the same person i was 12 years ago. I'm different, you're different. It's not the same and that's okay but you don't miss me because that care free Liv does not exists anymore." I sighed as the song was done and smiled for appearances and a picture.

"If you'll excuse me i think it's time i get Avery home. See you at Christmas, maybe after the new year if you want we can still do that lunch" I walked away before he could answer.

(Break)

"Did you see mommy?" Avery smiled as i came downstairs at the Grant home which was closer to the event than our house so we stayed over. She waved a picture at me and i took it gently from her hand. It had the whole Grant clan and smack dab in the middle was Fitz holding Avery with me right beside them.

"Nice picture, if only Auntie Katie was in it hmm?"

"Well, we better take one this year since you and Tripp decided to make nice" Kate's voice spread through the foyer and i looked up to see her and Matthew, her boyfriend of 6 years smiling.

"Katie" I screeched and made my way over to her. She swarmed me into a hug, it had been a year since she'd been home only coming home for holiday's. She was the Grants wild child, moving to Europe to pursue her artist dream. She loved Paris and the culture. I moved onto Matthew but heard a loud scream. I turned to see Avery clutching her eyes shut as Kate approached her.

"Kate, she's a bit scared of new people"

"I'm sorry" Kate squatted "i'm your Auntie Kate, Uncle Teddy and Uncle Fitz's and your mom's sister"

"I don't call Fitz Uncle" Avery scrunched up her face

Kate chuckled "Well it's nice to meet you"

"You too" Avery said clinging to my leg and said the same to Matthew.

"We will talk later? I'm gonna go find mom"

"Sure, it's Avery's nap time anyway"

"Have a good sleep" Kate smiled

"Mommy?"

"Yeah bug" I said as i rubbed her back. She was half asleep and her eyes were starting to droop.

"I'm glad you're my mommy" she whispered and snuggled further into me. Right then and there i knew if it was just Avery and i for the rest of my life i wouldn't care.
