LIV'S POV
It had been one week since New Years, one week since Fitz and i had cleared the air and one week since Avery had seen her family. I was due to go back to work in a week and she would be starting pre school when i went back.
"Mommy, i not going" she folded her arms as i got her boots on.
"You're just going to mommy's office to meet some of her friends, i'll be right there with you"
"Promise?"
"I promise" i smiled and kissed her head "be mommy's good girl okay?"
"Okay" she smiled and took Lyssy her American Girl doll from Fitz. She brought the doll everywhere she went and took excellent care of her.
When we got to OPA they were just finishing a case and apparently the news of my return was bringing hundreds of clients in very quickly.
Avery held onto me as we entered my personal office and suddenly Abby and Quinn were all over her. She looked at them with wide eyes and as Huck and Harrison came into the office she began to cry.
"I think it's a lot for her. How about one at a time guys?" I rubbed Avery's back as she calmed down and sat on my lap. Abby and Quinn got her to speak about her doll and exited while Harrison told her how much he loved dancing and if she could teach him some ballet moves soon. She giggled and nodded. The whole time her eyes zoned in on Huck.
"You saved me from my old mommy" she stated. Huck nodded and i watched as she ran over to him
"Thank you Uncle Huck! Mommy says dats your name!"
He smiled and hugged her back before leaving my office.
"You did great baby"
"I call nana Em now?" She asked as i started paperwork. I nodded and dialled the number but it went straight to voicemail.
"Can i call Fitz?" She looked up at me shyly. I laughed but dialled the number.
"Hello?" Fitz answered confused
"Fitz, it's me Liv"
"Livvie? Is everything alright? It's 5am here" i cursed myself remembering the time difference "I'm sorry, i forgot uh Avery wanted to speak to you but if -"
"I'd love to talk to her"
"Okay"
"Hi Fitz!" Avery broke out to a grin and took my cellphone over to the window seat. I tried not to listen to their conversation giving them privacy but she kept laughing. I had only seen her so carefree around myself of Fitz.
"Mommy said i have to start pre school next week" she whispered "kay Fitz, here's mommy"
"Hello?" I watched as she took Lyssy and went into Huck's office.
"Hi"
"H-hey" it was a known fact that when i was ready to forgive Fitz i would say hi back.
"I hear she's starting school in a few days"
"Pre school, we are both really nervous"
"She'll be fine"
"She won't be, you're not staying up with her at 3am because she's scared to sleep in case i leave like her mother left her"
"What?"
"She hurts a lot Fitz, i don't know what do sometimes"
"You showing her you love her is a step in the right direction"
"I guess you're right"
"You guess?" He chuckled
"How's California?"
"Good" he lied hesitating. I had read the papers of the secretary that had leaked compromising photos of him a few years ago with a woman. She was threatening to sue him for sexual harassment if she didn't get special bonus' according to Teddy. She was scamming him and the government.
"Good?"
"It's fine"
"Fitz-"
"If only i knew a political fixer hmm?"
"If only" i laughed "if you need me to fly out and handle her i can"
"I'll keep that in mind" there was muffling on the other line "Livvie, i have to go i will see you soon alright?"
"Bye Fitz, take care"
"You too" he hung up and i looked back to see Huck playing with Avery and her dolls.
"Huck?" I called as i got Avery into her car seat. She had fallen asleep now that it was 9pm and well after her first nap of the day. Huck always walked me down to the car after it got dark.
"Yeah Liv?"
"Can you get me a file on the Governor of California's secretary, i believe her last name is Tanner." I shut Avery's door quietly.
"Isn't that Fitz? I mean the Governor"
"It is"
"I'll drop it by tomorrow"
"Thank you" i smiled "and thank you for making Avery feel welcome, she really loves her uncle huck" he chuckled and nodded
