"You ready baby?" I asked Avery as i took off her coat as we entered the ballet studio in downtown D.C. Emily had looked for the top dance school even if it was for toddlers.

"Yes mommy" she answered and i watched as a group of women's heads turned as she handed me her Lyssy doll as if they didn't know there was adoption or mixed children in the world.

I glared at the until they realized who they were looking at. I rolled my eyes as Big Gerry entered the room.

"Poppy!" Avery ran over and kissed his cheek as he lifted her. She was dressed in head to toe pink ballerina suit and shoes along with her hair pulled back into a tight bun.

"Hi little darlin'"

"You come watch me dance?"

"Yep, nana em had a meeting so i came to see you"

She smiled and hugged him before the door opened for the little girls to enter. There was a large viewing room behind the door which looked like a normal mirror to the girls.

"Have fun baby, i'm right outside okay?"

Avery bit her lip and walked over to the door slowly, checking if i was still there. I waved and smiled as she entered the class. Big Gerry lead me to the front row and i watched as she sat beside a mixed little girl. She kept staring until the teacher let them introduce themselves. The two little girls were partnered for the rest of class and kept giggling.

"She's good" Big Gerry pulled me from my thoughts as i watched Avery follow instructions first and then try it out while everyone else looked lost.

"she's brilliant" i smiled "what are you doing in Washington?"

"He needs Olivia Pope"

"Who does?"

"Fitzgerald"

"He does not know the difference" i laughed "he hasn't asked me yet"

"You know he's on thin ice with you Liv, you two just started becoming friendly again"

"I'd hardly call us friendly" i tried shuffling it off.

"Fitzgerald needs you right now, that is why i'm here" he said sternly "I know i'm not your parent but-"

"Don't say that" i whispered "you and Emily are my parents, i love you both very much"

He smiled and rubbed my back "i know darlin' and you know how much family means to us. You are there for your family no matter what so please"

"I have to be here for Avery's first day of preschool, after then if he still needs it i can offer my services"

"That's my darlin'" he smiled and we watched the rest of the class. Avery waved goodbye to her friend and ran over to me, hugging my legs.

"Hi mommy"

"Hi bug, did you have fun?"

"Uh huh, Katya is really nice" she pointed to the little girl and they both waved goodbye.
