"Avery, Mason is in the same class as you. He'll be right there with you"

"Can i take Lyssy doll?"

"No baby you aren't allowed to bring-"

"But mommy! I take her everywhere" she started sobbing and ran back into her room just as i got her to unlock the door. My three year old was already locking me out of her bedroom. It was her first day of pre school at her new private school which would turn into her school until she graduated unless we moved.

"Baby come on, you have to go to school remember we bought you a big girls bag" i stared at her barbie bag and remembered how much she bit her fingers when we went shopping for school. She was nervous and scared. 6 hours was a long time to be away from each other especially since the most time she lasted before i got a call from Emily or Lex was 4 hours.

"NO MOMMY!" She mumbled from behind the door as the doorbell rang.

"Avery, it's 730. We have to leave soon. You still have to have some breakfast" i said heading towards the door

FITZ'S POV

The elevator door opened and i walked off and onto a private floor that held one wooden floor. I gulped and listened as her voice approached the door after i knocked.

"Fitz?! What are you doing here?"

"My mom thought you and Aves could use some support" i said shifting as she stared me down. She was dressed in shorts and a loose t-shirt, her hair down and pushed back behind her ears. Her glasses were on her face still and i could tell she was running late.

"Avery has locked herself in her room so i don't know if she'll be going today" she sighed "come in please" she pulled open the door letting me into the large apartment yet it was cozy. She had dining room to the right of the door and you walked down more into a living room which had a connecting door to the kitchen. Her house was decorated with white furniture and dark paintings and knick knacks all over except it was organized. The corner was dedicated to bins holding Avery's toys.

"Your place is so.."

"Messy?" She rubbed her neck

"It's you, not messy at all"

"Living alone had it's perks but i welcome the little pieces of pink everywhere" i chuckled as i took in a pink bag or sweater around the living room which was belonging to Avery.

"Her bedroom is this way" she led me down a hallway and stopped at the first door which had a pink lace A on the door.

"You can go get ready i'll handle breakfast" i offered. She hesitated but nodded and walked down the hallway closing the last door. I knocked on the door gently.

"Go away mommy, i not going to school!"

"Sweetheart, it's me Fitz"

The sound of her feet running across the room. She stopped at the door

"What's my favourite number?"

"3" i chuckled as i remembered it was because of her age now. She opened the door and grinned throwing herself into my arms.

"Fitz! I missed you so much! Wanna see my room?"

"Of course!" I smiled and watched as she led me into the pink room which held a white toddler bed with a fenced gate so she didn't roll though the bed hardly looked used. She had bookshelves, a whole corner by the window dedicated to her doll house and dolls. The walls had a family picture from Christmas hanging.

"Do you like it?"

"Very much sweetheart"

She smiled and sat down with me on her window seat.

"Mommy's making me go to school, she doesn't want to play with me anymore"

"Of course she does! But you're a big girl now and you have to go to school to be smart like mommy"

"But i'm scared" she whispered "what if mommy forgets to come back?"

"Mommy won't forget, i'll come back with her okay?"

"You will?"

"If you want"

She nodded "So you're going to be my brave Aves?"

"Okay"

"Good girl" i held my arms and watched her lay her head down on my chest. "Come on let's eat some breakfast i brought you bagel and a donut"

"Uncle Teddy buys me those! I not to tell mommy though" she whispered

"I think you'll be okay today. It's a special day!"

I got her in a chair and helped her with her placemat as i noticed she was dressed in grey dress pants and the private school's navy blue polo top. Her curls were clipped back out of her face and i laughed as she got cream cheese all over her cheeks as she ate her bagel. She finished half before moving onto her donut.

"Fitz, i don't let her have sugar!" Liv chased taking a bite out of her bagel as she sat down beside Avery.

"It's a special day mommy" Avery said smiling

"Yeah mom"

"The two of you" Liv grumbled as she checked her phone "you feeling better now?"

"Yes mommy" i looked over at Avery and nodded "and i sorry for locking you out"

"That's okay" she smiled "finish your breakfast bug"

I watched as Avery and Liv both reached for their juice at the same time, folding the napkin the same way before wiping their mouths and Liv stood up

"What?"

"Nothing" i smiled

"Fitz said he drop me off and pick me up"

"That's perfect!" Liv smiled

"It is?" I said confused knowing i would probably have to talk her into picking Avery up with her.

"Yes, we can drop her off with your car and you can drop me at my office since my co workers are packing me an agreement for our flight tomorrow"

"Our flight?"

"We are going to California tomorrow, i will fly in for a day and be back home by the next morning"

"What?"

"I'm handling your little problem"

"Mommy where i go?" Avery asked as she followed Liv back towards the bedrooms.

"We can talk about that after school okay?" Liv smiled and got Avery's coat on. I wondered why she didn't just tell her the plan.

"Kay"

I picked Avery up as we left Liv's apartment. We got her car seat put into the SUV and we all climbed into the back.

"Liv, this is Tom Larsen my security detail" i watched as Liv reached forward and shook Tom's hand

"Ma'am, miss" he nodded towards Avery as Liv gave him the address for the private school. The gate was closed off so random people couldn't come in and out as they pleased. Politician children were roaming the campus.

"Look, Mase is already inside" Liv said as Avery started biting her nails outside the classroom as a teacher came outside and greeted us.

"Hello, i'm Mrs. Harper. You must be Avery" Avery nodded behind Liv's leg.

"Your cousin Mason has told the class all about you would you like to come in and play?"

Avery looked up at me and reached her hands up. I quickly bent down and lifted her as her face went into my neck

"Remember our talk earlier Aves?" She nodded "You think you can still do it?"

"Kay, you promise you come back?"

"I promise" i kissed her head and set her down. She hugged Liv as Mrs. Harper and i gave them a minuet. Liv smiled as Avery walked slowly into the classroom and went straight towards Mason who grinned and hugged her. Within a few seconds she was playing with a mixed little girl and Mason.

"She's very shy, i know i explained on the phone but if there's any problems please call me"

"Of course ma'am"

"I'd also wanted to let you know that she'll be picked up by Governor Grant today"

"Is he allowed on her okay list?"

Liv looked towards me and nodded

"If there's any problems, i'll call. Have a good day" she closed the door and i watched Liv as she kept staring at Avery through the window. She held her necklace and kept swinging it back and forth.

"Livvie, she'll be fine. 1pm is only four hours away"

"Right" she nodded as she fixed her grey blazer and walked away from the door.
