The day of Halloween Emma was getting ready to leave the station early so that she could get home before people were out with their kids for trick or treating. The mansion usually didn't attract too many trick or treaters because it was so far away from the central part of the town. Emma and Henry decorated the front of the house anyway, because Regina insisted they still take an active part in the holiday. Emma was finishing a small stack of paperwork when her mother came waltzing into the room holding a bag in one hand and some kind of hot drink in the other.

"I would have thought you'd be home by now." Emma signed her name and effectively finished her paperwork before standing up. "And with that signature I can do just that. Regina is probably going nuts at home by now. Henry is with friends at some house party that some parents from school put together and Whale told her to take it easy until the morning sickness goes away."

"I imagine she hates that." Emma nodded her head and smiled.

"My wife hates sitting still, but she's obeying doctor's orders only because it affects the babies. She is bored out of her mind though so I should get home so we can discuss what she wants in the nursery that she is still mad I won't let her help with."

"Speaking of things she can help with. I picked these up today and thought you two could use them now in stead of waiting two more moths for the baby shower." Snow handed Emma a few baby name books along with some pregnancy books.

"Oh good Regina can think she's going to give birth to an alien. It took me three weeks to convince her the babies wouldn't be born with tails."

"It happens Emma…"

"No, you don't say that near her or around her, please, she'll go nuts. I will go nuts." Snow back off and laughed at how much Regina had gone from being level headed to totally wrapped up in being pregnant in a matter of weeks.

"If you want, you can come with me to the house and give her the books yourself. I'm sure she'd like the company from someone other than Henry or me."

"I promised your dad I'd be home before he came in for the night shift, but let me know if she likes them. I mean you could always use the Internet, but these are more fun." Emma threw on her jacket and picked up one of the books. Emma paused briefly on one page and Snow watched Emma struggle with herself before she carefully tore out the page entirely. She flipped towards the center of the book and repeated the act once more before doing the same to the second book her mother had offered her.

"Care to explain?" Snow gestured to the tore out pages in her daughter's hand.

"Yesterday Regina burst into tears while watching a life insurance commercial. Random things trigger the water works these days, so stuff like this needs to stay out my house." Emma handed her mother the tore pages. The first page had D names while the second one had L names and as Snow looked them over she understood why Emma demanded they get nowhere near Regina. The D names page had the name Daniel and Danielle printed clear at the top of the page and the L name page had Leona and Leopold somewhere in the center of the page.

"There are a thousand options of names for our daughters, but Regina will see those and shut down totally. I want this to be something nice we can to together with no outside influence, especially from ghosts."

"I understand, but don't you think she'll notice the page missing?"

"Maybe so or maybe she'll just let it go. She sees a therapist, if you can call him that, and she talks to me about the other stuff. Besides I promised her no family names and much as I hate to admit it, those are family names."

"You didn't tear out the page that has Mary or Margaret on it."

Emma laughed as she locked her office behind her as they walked toward the front door of the station. "I wouldn't hold your breath. Regina loves you and everything, but I don't think those names are in the running."

Snow rolled her eyes, "don't be silly, I know that. I meant you didn't tear those pages out. Won't they upset Regina?"

"Why would they? Like I said, she loves you, just not enough to name the girls after you." Emma winked at her mother as they made there way toward Emma's car. After dropping her mother off at her apartment Emma made her way home and when she walked through the front door she could see a fire was lit in the fire place, a common sight the last few weeks. Regina found the fire comforting and it was a pleasant way to warm the living up during the winter months. Emma took a step into the living room and smiled as she saw her wife absolutely dead to the word asleep in the recliner Regina bought Emma for her birthday the year before. Regina always insisted she hated the thing, but lately it was one of the only places Regina could sit comfortably. Emma kissed Regina's forehead and after wrinkling her nose at the intrusion Regina opened her eyes and smiled.

"Hey there sleepy head. Enjoying my chair again?"

"Your children find it very comfortable." Emma smiled. The babies were always hers when they made Regina look a little funny. "Of course they do, they have excellent taste. How are you feeling?"

"Much better actually. No throwing up today. Whale said that if I'm ok the rest of this week I can go back to working at the office until my maternity leave starts."

"Just don't push it baby. You can do just as much work from home as you can at the office and I'd sooner see this town burn to the ground in your absence than risk your health or the girls'." Regina smiled as Emma rubbed her hand over her rounded stomach.

"You hopeless romantic, you. Help me up and we can fix something for dinner." Emma helped Regina to her feet and gave her a more appropriate kiss before they went into the kitchen together. Regina noticed the bag on the table and asked Emma about it.

"Your mother didn't send over more pregnancy books did she?"

"Not exactly. This time they are baby name books. I thought we could start flipping through them, making lists, telling each other we are absolutely not naming our child something that weird. You know, the fun stuff."

"Sounds like we'll be fighting a lot." Regina thought about it for a moment and Emma had to agree, she was already preparing for a few arguments.

"Probably, but I didn't get to do this with Henry." Regina felt guilty for making light of something that was clearly very important to Emma. Regina put down the leftovers on the counter and turned Emma around to face her. "I didn't mean to upset you or make it seem like this wasn't something I'm excited for. When I named Henry, it was my choice alone and it was an apology more than anything else. My way of keeping my father, my Henry, close to me always. I want to fight over middle names and break into tears when I hear you say the names I want our daughters to have. I want to make those lists with you." Emma leaned in and kissed Regina in an effort to communicate that she shared the sentiment as well. They pulled apart blushing and went about making dinner for themselves. Once they had eaten and put the dishes away Emma had grabbed the books and headed into the living room and Regina soon followed.

"Want me to rub your back while we start looking?"

"How did you know my back was hurting?"

"You've been rubbing it since we started dinner, now come here and let me pamper you." Regina settled herself in between Emma's legs as they both sat on the sofa. Emma ran her hands up and down Regina spine and if not for the task at hand Regina would have fallen asleep all over again. Regina held open the book so that they could both see the names printed on each page.

"So we just mark the ones we like?"

"Or the ones we hate I guess…there is not rules about doing this a certain way, we just do what feels right to us."

"What if we started with names we always liked and go from there?" Regina suggested and Emma kissed her neck from behind, "sounds good. Any ideas?" Regina sighed contently as Emma found the sorest spot in her back and soothed it. After thinking about it for a moment Regina turned to a different section in the book entirely and before she showed Emma she paused to explain.

"I know we said no family names and technically this isn't, but I thought about it this morning and…if you hate it…you know what…it's stupid."

"Hey. Regina, it's not stupid if it means something to you. Tell me. Besides I might like the name. What is it?" Regina sighed and cautiously opened the book to a page full of names beginning with the letter E. Regina circled one name with her pencil and showed it to Emma. Emma read the name and her heart stopped. Her hand flew to Regina's belly and she rubbed one spot, where the first twin was, over and over again.

"Is that really what you want to name her?" Regina nodded her head and explained. "In our world it's tradition…"

"Regina." Emma turned her wife around so that they were looking at each other. Emma had tears streaming down her face and she was trying hard to keep her voice as composed as possible. "Fuck tradition and look me in the eye and tell me that this is what you want to name this baby, this one right here where my hand is."

Regina couldn't talk just then because she was crying too and if it was possible she was crying harder than Emma was. She nodded her up and down before she could choke out, "yes." Before Regina could ask what Emma thought of her idea she received her answer as Emma pulled Regina toward her and immediately began kissing her. Regina could feel her tears rolling down her cheeks and mix with Emma's and it somehow made the moment even more tender than it already was for the two women. 20 minutes later both of them were laid out in front of the fire with blankets wrapped around them as they continued to steal kisses. Emma looked around at the living room and laughed softly. Their clothes had been thrown in ever direction and Emma had managed to break a lamp in the process, but neither of them cared. Emma didn't expect to have the type of reaction to this process. That moment of hearing a name that makes it all real and uniquely beautiful. She looked at Regina who was losing her battle to stay awake and before she settled in next to her wife for their impromptu camp out on the living room floor, Emma moved the blanket away from her wife completely.

Regina's naked body was always stunning, but in that moment, with Regina bathed in the light from the fire, Emma couldn't breathe. She leaned down and nuzzled the same spot on Regina's belly and kissed it softly before kissing the other side.

"Mommy loves you both, very much. And your other mommy is the most wonderful person ever, ok, if that's all you remember from this…she's the best person I've ever known and we can't wait to meet you both." Regina let Emma talk to her belly without alluding to the fact that she was awake and could hear everything that Emma was saying to the babies. Emma felt Regina shiver and quickly wrapped the blanket back around her wife and herself as she snuggled into Regina's side. They fell asleep like that, watching the fire die down to embers and both women slept with a smile on their face. In the frenzy of their love making, the book had been haphazardly dropped to the floor beside the coffee table, but it remained open to the page Regina had shown Emma. One name was circled in pencil, but Emma knew that Regina could have circled it in permanent ink because they had named the first baby. As they slept Emma would unconsciously reach down and rub Regina's belly and mumble the baby's name in her sleep.

Emily.

Ok, I'm in the middle of final papers and hell as it were, but this was my break from grad school homework to enjoy my life for an hour so I really hope you all liked it. What do we think of the name? I wanted it as close to Emma as I could get it and I'll explain more about it later, but thoughts so far?
