LIV'S POV
"Mommy mommy mommy!" Avery ran down the steps of her school and into my arms.
"Hi buggy!" I laughed as she smothered my face with kisses
"I missed you!"
"I missed you more baby" i smiled and kissed her
"Fitz in sunny place?" She pouted
"Yeah, that's his home"
"I miss him" it amazed me how close the two had become in little than two months. She trusted him almost more than she trusted me.
"He misses you too"
She smiled and started brushing her Lyssy doll. The evening was spent watching disney movies and snuggling on the couch until bedtime.
"It's okay baby, go back to sleep" i smiled as Avery laid down in my bed after wetting her own bed. She dozed off and i ran to the house phone as it filled the quiet apartment threatening to wake her up.
"Hello?" I whispered
"Hi" Fitz answered back
"Hello" i shifted surprised he had called me.
"Did i wake you?"
"No, i was changing the sheets of Avery's bed"
"At this time?"
"She wanted to try sleeping on her own but she leaked through her pamper"
"Because she had a nightmare?"
"Yes" i went back to Avery's room and continued with him on speakerphone.
"Why are you calling Fitz?"
"Because i wanted to hear your voice"
I stopped moving and gained composure. "Have you ever thought about letting her see someone?"
"Someone like who?"
"Like a child psychologist"
"Because i can't handle it?"
"No Liv-"
"No one except for you has told me to do that so do you think i'm a bad mother?"
"Livvie, calm down"
"You calm down, you don't know her! You think i wouldn't have forgiven you already if Avery wasn't here? I don't want you coming into her life or my life and leaving again."
"Livvie-"
"I have to go, i have an long day tomorrow, bye" i hung up quickly and got annoyed.
(Break)
"Maybe Fitz was right" Abby offered as i bit into a granola bar the next morning at work. Quinn had still not returned since the last case and i was worried but i knew she needed her space.
"About?"
"Her seeing someone, just about the nightmares and about you leaving"
"You agree with him?"
"She can't live her life in fear Liv, i can look up the best ones for you if you'd like?"
"Fine" i rolled my eyes "an appointment for this saturday"
"Great" she nodded and left the apartment. I needed a break from work and i had just gotten back.
The week flew by as we finished a case and Avery got used to her routine. She had two more nightmares throughout the week but the weekend quickly approached. Friday night we were just getting home from Abby's house when someone knocked on the door.
"FITZ!" Avery jumped up and down as i let him in the door. I waved hello to Tom as he stood by the elevator before closing the door.
"Hi sweetheart" Fitz smiled and hugged her as he lifted her up with ease.
"Mommy didn't tell me you were coming"
"It was a surprise" He smiled
"I'm gonna go get Lyssy" she ran off towards her room
"What are you doing here?" I crossed my arms
"I told you every weekend"
"You can't be serious, don't you have Governor things to do"
"Not on weekends" He laughed and took a seat on my couch. "What's our plans this weekend?"
"Our plans?" I rolled my eyes and watched as Avery climbed on top of him.
"Mommy said i have a doctors appointment tomorrow but not for when i'm sicky"
Fitz smiled towards me "I'd like to go too"
"Yes! Can fitz come mommy?"
"If you want"
"Then i'm sleeping at Uncle Teddy's house"
"You can come back tomorrow if you'd like to spend time with her" I offered
"I will but i'll still go to the appointment"
"What are you doing tomorrow night?"
"Abby wants to go out for some drinks, girls night so no you cannot come"
"I'll just wait here for you then"
"Here? You're staying here?"
"Yep"
"What if i didn't have a 3 bedroom apartment?"
"I guess i'd have to stay with you two"
I laughed "you'd stay on the couch"
The next morning i jumped as i saw Fitz in the kitchen. I had forgotten he was here. I was already dressed and ready for the day and Avery was now in the bath. He stood whistling in the kitchen as he made some eggs. He wore a pair of sweats and a grey t-shirt that hugged his arms and his hair was ruffled from sleep.
"Morning Livvie" he smiled as i walked by him to get some coffee
"Morning" i nodded "i see you're making yourself comfortable"
"Just wanted to make the morning easier" he shrugged and i listened as Avery paddled down the hallway wrapped in her princess towel leaving water marks all over my wooden floors.
"Avery Anne!" I gasped as i saw all the water down the hallway
"Oops" Avery looked back and Fitz chuckled as he lifted her in the air and went to her room while i got some towels and started cleaning the place up.
"Aves, Fitz we have to go"
Avery and Fitz came out of their own rooms. Fitz dressed in dress pants and a light blue dress shirt while Avery had on jeans and a long sleeved top. Her hair pulled into a tight bun as she clutched her doll.
"Look Fitz did my hair!" She smiled and i was actually impressed by his skills to tame her curls.
"Wow" i laughed as i helped her with her winter boots and mittens. Fitz carried Avery through the doors of the doctors office and sat down with her as i signed her in and sat down beside Fitz as he helped her take off her mittens and jacket.
"Avery Pope?" The doctor called out and Fitz stood as Avery watched us move closer gripping her doll.
"Hi, you must be mom and dad, i'm Rachel"
"Oh, i'm mom. He's..."
"A friend" Fitz smiled and set Avery down but she turned and buried her face in his thighs.
"Avery, how about we talk in my office. We can leave the blinds open so you can see your mom if you'd like"
Avery turned towards me and i smiled down at her
"Kay" she quickly asked for a hug from Fitz and i and went into the room with Rachel. She sat at a small table and was handed a piece of paper and some crayons.
"Stop staring, you're going to bore a hole through the window" Fitz chuckled.
"Thanks for being here Fitz"
"What?"
"Thanks for being here with us, and i'm sorry i yelled at you for suggesting that she do this. You were just trying to help" "look at us, apologizing and shit"
I laughed as a woman looked over and glared at him for his mouth.
"Who knew Governors had such potty mouths" she whispered as she left.
Fitz and i laughed until my phone started ringing
"Olivia Pope"
"Libby Bibby" Teddy chuckled
"Hi Ted"
"How's she doing?"
"so far so good, she's smiling right now"
"Good" he laughed "Fitz made it in okay?"
"You're the one who told him?"
"Of course, you two are so stubborn someone needs to push you two a little"
"Tell Fitz the plans have change, i spoke to Abby and Lex and we are all going out"
"All?"
"OPA crew plus Fitz, Lex and I"
"And our children?"
"Mom and Dad's"
"Where are we going?"
"Out for a night! Be ready by 9, i'll pick you guys up!" He hung up before i could argue with him and i sighed turning towards an expecting looking Fitz
"Apparently all of us are going out, be ready by 9"
"Brighten up Livvie, we haven't been out together in years"
"Ms. Pope? Can i see you for a minute?" Rachel called as Avery skipped over towards Fitz and he started helping her with her coat. I walked into the office and looked at the two pictures.
"I asked Avery to draw me a picture with the happy colours and one with sad colours. She said this one was her home now" she pushed the one with the bright yellows and lots of pinks and something that looked like stick people.
"She seems really close to your friend?"
"They are equally obsessed with each other"
"She's going to confuse him with a parental figure soon and right now to be honest i think it's better if she has that as much as she can." She smiled "She loves her new family very much, there seems to be a lot of you."
"And the dark picture?" I asked
"How she sees her life before her Uncle Huck saved her? She was abused mentally and physically but the good thing about her age is that she will eventually forget. She already is, her nightmares are just subconscious"
"And her attachment issues?"
"She's seen the good version of a mommy, she just doesn't want you to leave but re assuring you love her will eventually over power the fear"
"Okay" i nodded
"You are doing a great job Ms. Pope, she loves you very much"
"Thank you, i love her too"
"So, we'll start with once a week for 6 months, every saturday morning and then we'll switch to two times a month"
"Sounds perfect, thank you so much"
"Mommy, Fitz says were going to McDonalds" she grinned "Uncle Teddy got me nummy nuggies from there!"
"Fitz-"
"She deserves a treat! She said she wanted nuggets"
"What are nuggies made out of?" Avery said as we sat at my kitchen table since Fitz's security detail didn't want him going in such a public place.
"Poultry" Fitz answered
"What's that?"
"Chicken" i offered
"What?!" She gasped loudly shoving her nuggets back
"What's wrong?"
"I eat animals!"
"Great" i mumbled as Fitz started chuckling
"Everyone does baby"
"I'm not!"
"So you're turning into a vegetarian?" Fitz asked her.
"What's that?"
"Someone who doesn't eat meat"
"Mhm!" She sipped her juice "do potatoes have meat?"
"No baby" I smiled
She started munching on her fries
"Are you staying over again Fitz?"
"Yeah, tomorrow i was thinking we could do something special together. Just the two of us if it's okay with mom"
I looked up at both pairs of light eyes and caved quickly.
"Okay"
"Yes" Fitz high fived Avery and smirked towards me.
"Where we gonna go?"
"That's a surprise" Fitz smiled towards her and took her nuggets to eat.
"Are you really going to be a vegetarian?" I asked
"Yes mommy"
"I guess i will too then"
"What? So i'm going to be the only one eating meat on weekends"
"It's not like you'll be here every weekend Fitz"
"Yes i will" he finished his meal as i went to get Avery dropped off.
