LIV'S POV

"Hi bug" I said coming into Avery's bedroom the next morning. She had refused dinner and stayed playing with her dolls, she even stayed in her room to sleep. She looked up at me as i woke her up for school with the saddest eyes i had ever seen.

"I stay home today mommy pease" she spoke like a baby when she was sad or hurt.

"How come? You're not feeling well? Does something hurt?" She nodded and i started to panic "does your tummy hurt?"

"No"

"Your head?"

"No" she shook her head and pointed to her chest. "Your heart hurts?"

"Because Fitz left again" i wanted to laugh at how adorable she was in this moment

"Aw bug" i pulled her into a hug and kissed her "You can stay home but this can't happen every time alright?"

"I go back sleep now mommy?"

"Okay" i kissed her head and tucked her back in and left her door open a bit as i called Abby.

"Hello?"

"Hey Abs"

"Hi Liv, everything okay?"

"Everything is fine, Avery just isn't feeling very well so i won't be in today"

"No problem, tell her OPA sends her lots of hugs and kisses" i chuckled Abby was never the one to be emotional but since Avery had come around she couldn't stop being nice.

"I will, thanks Abs" i hung up and changed out of my work clothes and started making arrangements for Avery's birthday which was being held at the Grant estate. She wanted a little mermaid tower cake and little mermaid plates, basically she wanted everything the little mermaid. I ordered balloons, the cake and the princess' by the time it was 11 o'clock and she still hadn't come out of her room.

"Olivia Pope" i answered my cell phone distracted as Avery's door opened and i watched the head of tamed curls look quickly in my direction but once she saw me she shut her door back quickly.

"Hello? Liv? Are you there?" Fitz's voice spread through the phone

"Yes sorry, i thought Avery was hungry"

"Avery? She didn't go to school?"

"No, she said her heart hurt because you had to go home"

"Oh my god, that-"

"Is the cutest or saddest thing. I can't decide"

"So you let her stay home?"

"She looked so sad Fitz! You try saying no to her green eyes"

"Someone wanted a stay for an execution"

"You do not need to apologize for doing your job Fitz, you live in California, we live in Washington"

"Liv-"

"I just don't see how it would work, i can't keep watching her get sad every Sunday"

"So what are you saying?"

"Maybe you should focus on being governor right now"

"No, you're not pushing me away. I will see you Friday night" he said annoyed and he hung up quickly after.

(Break)

"Hi bug"

"Hi mommy" Avery said as she took my hand during Wednesday night after i picked her up from ballet. She had been sad all week.

"How do you feel about mcdonald's for dinner?"

She narrowed her eyes as i looked up at her.

"Okay" she whispered for a while she spoke about school.

"Do you want to try to call Fitz?"

"No mommy"

"Aves, what's wrong? Tell mommy. Maybe she can help" she started crying as she came to sit on my lap.

"I want Fitz to stay here and be with us all the time!"

"But Fitz has a job baby, we talked about this remember. The week isn't that long and you can call him anytime you want"

"I can?"

"Yes, mommy's sorry you're hurting but he'll be back in two days! Let's have fun until then kay?"

"Kay" she smiled and for the first time in almost a week she let out a giggle.

(Break)

I watched as Avery paddled in the water at her swimming lessons. Katya's mom and i had become close since Katya and Avery were practically best friends, add Mason to the mix and they were the three musketeers. Avery came out of the pool and looked up at me with her puppy dog eyes.

"Mommy?" She said almost as if she were scared

"Yes?" I laughed

"Can Katya come over tonight? For a sleepsover?"

Friday the school had a p.a day so it wasn't a problem. I looked towards Katya's mom, Jess and she smiled and nodded. Avery shrieked and sent Katya a thumbs up.

"Go get changed you little monster" i squeezed her but cheek and watched her giggle as she walked away. Jess and i exchanged numbers and i since Katya and Avery were the same size i said she could borrow some clothes. Jess hugged me goodbye and went off to find Katya. I listened as the whispers started but by the time i looked up he was sitting beside me.

"What are you doing here?"

"Surprising my girls, i had this planned before you wanted to break things off"

"I didn't want to break things off" i sighed. He ran a hand through his hair and over his face, he looked tired.

"How long are you here for?"

"Till sunday like always" he looked down at his phone

"Still love me?" I asked knowing he wouldn't be able to stay mad

"What kind of question- of course-" he smirked as he saw me laughing "you little-"

"We're in public" i reminded him

"Fixers aren't allowed to date Governors?"

"I don't know"

"Can i at least kiss your cheek?"

"With all those women gossiping? I don't-" it was too late as his lips were on mine. I sighed as i felt him smirk.

"Mommy?" Avery gasped and i was met with two pairs of little eyes. "And Fitz! I knew you liked him mommy!" Avery smiled and ran over to Fitz hugging him as he smothered her with kisses

"I missed you princess"

"I missed you too!"

Katya had made her way over towards me and i smoothed her hair.

"This is Katya, Avery's best friend other than Mason. She's sleeping over tonight"

"Hi Katya, i'm-"

"Gobner Grant from the sunny place! I see you on tv!" She smiled and waved shyly.

"You can just call me Fitz"

"Kay"

"Mommy said you come back tomorrow"

"I wanted to surprise my girls" Fitz smiled "i can come back tomorrow if you'd like-"

"No!" Avery smiled "stay, you can play tea party with us"

"Excellent idea Aves" i said lifting Katya as Fitz had Avery. We walked out to the SUV.

(Break)

"Is he your daddy? Cause he kisses your mommy and you and he looks at her all gooey eyes like he's gots cooties" Katya said as Fitz helped put their veggie dogs onto their plates. The girls had been gossiping for almost an hour now and they were really bad at whispering.

"I guess so" Avery whispered clearly confused

"Guess so?" Katya urged her on "ask him for the ketchup but say daddy and maybe he'll answer"

Fitz smirked at me and i watched as Avery worked up her courage.

"Can i please have some ketchup daddy?" Avery swung her legs back and forth and Fitz reached over and handed her the ketchup bottle after clearly getting emotional at her words.

"See he is your daddy!"

Avery smiled and high fived Katya and dug into her veggie dog as Fitz and i went out into the living room.

"You didn't have to let that happen Fitz, i don't want you to feel pressured-"

"I'm going to marry her mom eventually, and let's face it we never did anything in the right order" he winked and kissed me right on the lips. He pulled back and watched me become flustered. Kissing him still gave me the same butterfly's

"Promise me something Liv"

"What?"

"That while we're working through our problems you'll let go and be the crazy Liv i fell in love with"

"Fitz-"

"Remember when you convinced me to go swimming at 3am?"

"So you want to go swimming at 3am?" I asked confused

"I want you to want to go swimming at that time of night"

I laughed "i'll try"
