A/N- Hey guys I'm back with a new chapter! Don't forget to leave a review when you're done reading! Disclaimer: I only own the plot and my OC.
Ellie's POV
"So where are we going?" I asked Leo. We were walking along the road heading away from the camp. So far we hadn't been attacked, but it was only a matter of time before we did.
"According to the map, we have to head into the city that never sleeps. My guess is that we have to go to New York."
"Los Angeles is also a city that never sleeps. What if we have to go to California?" I pondered.
"That makes sense too, but Olympus is in New York. I say we go to New York first before going to California."
"Alright. Sounds like a plan." I nodded and stuffed my hands in my pockets.
We kept walking along the road for what seemed to be hours. I was getting sick of the stupid squirrels jumping and the birds chirping. My feet began to ache a while back, but now they just felt numb. I wondered if Leo felt the same.
"Hey do you want to stop for a while?" Leo looked over at me.
"Thank the gods!" I exclaimed. I sat down on the side of the road and started going through my pack. I opened the side pocket and found goldfish crackers and some water bottles. Attached to the side of the carton of the crackers was a note that read: "Incase you get hungry."- Lucy
"Hey you want some?" I offered him.
"Not now, maybe later." I waved the carton and water in front of his face. He had been acting pretty serious, which I found odd.
"You know you want some." I sang. He finally cracked a smile and snatched the goldfish out of my hands.
"Well since you insist." He opened the carton up and inhaled the goldfish. Then he took the water bottle and chugged it down. He handed it back to me before getting back up and dusting his hands. I peered into the carton and gaped; he had eaten about half of them. I got up and wiped my hands on my jeans.
"Well now that you practically ate all of my food, we have to go on to the city."
"I don't want to walk anymore." He whined.
"Then what do you propose we do? Do you want to fly there on some kind of magical creature?"
"Yes actually, I do. Use your mystical powers to summon a Pegasus and we'll head out to the city." He stated. I would if I could actually, but there was one problem with that. Percy had told me that the flying horses were in fact real, but to call them you had to whistle. So that there is a problem because I can't whistle.
"Uh I'd prefer if I didn't. You know walking is good for the body and we'd get a good workout. You get what I'm saying? It'd prepare us for fighting monsters and being badass and what not. It'll also burn all those calories you just consumed." I rambled on. I'd do anything to avoid having to tell anyone that I couldn't whistle. Hopefully he wouldn't catch on.
"Wait, you mean to tell me that you'd rather walk hundreds of miles, days at a time, than call a Pegasus and fly there?" He looked at me skeptically.
"Did I not just go over the benefits of walking?" I exclaimed throwing my hands up in the air.
"Yeah, which was totally not backed up by any research by the way."
"Um excuse you, but I did a PowerPoint on the benefits of exercise in school and it earned an A plus. So take that." Oh he did not just insult my academic skills.
"Just whistle and call a flying horse already!" He shouted.
"Yeah about that, I can't whistle." I muttered.
"What? You can't what?"
"I can't whistle." I whispered.
"Ok, I need you to speak up, what can't you do?"
"I can't fucking whistle! I can't make that high pitched noise that comes out of your mouth when you put your lips together and blow air out of them?" I yelled in his face. He laughed. He had the nerve to start laughing at me. My hand curled into a fist and I swung it straight into his arm.
"Ow! What'd you do that for?" He rubbed his arm.
"Don't laugh at me! It's embarrassing!" I'm pretty sure my face was a light shade of red by now.
"Fine, fine. Now if we're going to get out of these woods by sunset, I'm going to have to teach you how to whistle."
"Can't you just pull a whistle out of your tool belt thingy?" I asked.
"No, I've tried that, it doesn't work. Ok now first things first, you have to lick your lips."
Leo's POV
"Wait what?" She asked me. I was currently teaching little miss sunshine how to whistle after she punched me.
"I said to lick your lips, I'm going to teach you how to whistle." I said slowly.
"Don't talk to me like a five year old!"
"Well you're acting like one."
"Ugh fine, but this doesn't mean I have to listen to you all the time ok?" She quickly licked her lips and stared at me expectantly.
"Now make a kissy face." She giggled and did as I said. To be honest, she looked beautiful. Her hair was in a disarray of curls that cascaded down her back to her waist. She was still wearing her brother's camp shirt with a gray hoodie and some jeans. She looked so adorable with her lips puckered out and her arms crossed.
"Ok now blow some wind out, not a lot just a little." I instructed. She tried to do it, but failed miserably. I shook my head and moved over to her. I cupped her cheeks in my hand and squished them, making her pink and totally kissable lips stand out even more.
"Ok now try." She proceeded to do as I told and a tiny, barely audible sound came out. Her eyes brightened up and her face erupted into a smile.
"I did it! Oh my gosh I actually did it!" She jumped up and down and did a little victory dance. I chuckled at her actions and waited her to finish.
"Ok now this time do it louder got it?" She nodded her head and whistled. This time an actual whistle came out. She smiled even louder and hugged me.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She squeezed the air out of me before releasing me and then hugging me again.
"Ok, ok now this time call a pegasus." She called one named Hunter and whistled for him. A speck in the sky appeared and started moving towards us. A caramel colored horse with a white diamond stood in front of Ellie and nuzzled her hand.
"Alright, let's go stop a war." And with that we both climbed on and headed to New York.
