Ellie's POV

I swung open the door and tiptoed into the room. The smell inside was so revolting I had to resist the urge to gag. I peered around one of the dusty bookshelves and searched for any sign of Leo. I walked towards the middle of the spacious room, which may have not been the smartest thing to do.

"I see my suspicions have been confirmed." I whipped my head around. The old man stood in front of me.

"What do you want?" I asked. I gripped the hilt of my sword tighter as he began circling around me. He chuckled and shook his head.

"Why is it that you demigods always ask this? It's always 'What do you want?' or 'Why are you doing this'. You demigods never change." He started laughing manically before adding, "But the thing that never ceases to bring me joy is when I do this!"

He roared and his body started twisting in odd angles. He let out an agonizing scream before falling to the ground. His limbs kept on twisting and you could hear his bones start to snap. It was a gruesome sight I'll admit, but as he was changing the only thing I could do was stand and stare.

He finally stopped twitching and rose. He was no longer and old creepy man, he was a full-fledged werewolf.

"Oh shit, you're a freaking werewolf! It's not even a full moon today! Hell it's not even night time!" I exclaimed.

"I prefer the terms theriomorph or lycanthrope, and with this war between night and day, I can shift whenever I want. I have no restrictions!" He let out another roar before lunging at me.

I quickly jumped to the side and raised my sword. I tried stabbing him only to have him yank my sword out of my hands. Man was I in trouble. I quickly slid off my other rings and had my bow and arrows appear in my hand.

I used my bow to smack him in the face before running further away from him. I looked around to see if there were any more rooms where he was keeping Leo. The shifter was advancing towards me so I pulled the bowstring back and released an arrow. It pierced him in the leg slowing him down for a few seconds.

I took the chance and busted the door of the next room open. The door slammed behind me and the lock clicked sealing Leo and I inside. I found Leo hanging from his hands on one of the many support beams. The door slammed behind me and I realized that we were trapped inside. I sent another arrow flying to cut the rope since he was to high up. The rope gave out and Leo fell from where he was hanging. His face was covered in sweat.

"Thank the Gods, my arms were beginning to ache from having to hold myself up." He was panting and his wrists had marks from where the ropes and been.

"Are you good to fight? We're kind of going against a werewolf and he's not going to go down without a fight." I was on high alert listening for any footsteps coming out way.

"You kidding? I'm always ready to fight, lemme just get my tool belt. Old man yanked it off before I had time to pull out a hammer and bash his head in." He stood up and grabbed his tool belt that was laid on a pile of crates and strapped it back on

around his waist.

"We're going to need a plan and a good one. Oh and we're also going to need silver because celestial bronze is not going to work this time." I said.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"He grabbed my sword and yanked it away without getting a scratch on him." Leo scratched the back of his neck.

"I can try to see if my tool belt can give me any, but I can't make any promises." He rummaged through one of the pockets and pulled out three arrows.

"I don't think I'll be able to pull out anymore so you're going to have to be careful with these."

"It's good enough. Now I've got a plan, if you distract him, even for a little while, I would be able to do a good amount of damage to the lycan." He nodded and said, "Let's do this."

He pulled a paperclip out of his tool belt and started working on picking the lock. He spent a good five minutes before the lock clicked open. Together we ran out of the room and back into the large room. The lycan was nowhere to be found. The only thing in the room was my sword that had previously been yanked out of my hands, the dusty bookshelf I had hid behind, and a broken arrow. A broken arrow. He must've gotten away, but where would he have gone? I was broken out of my thoughts by Leo.

"Ellie look out!" I was shoved to the ground by Leo. I was about to start yelling at him about how rude that was when I saw what he had pushed me away from. The lycan was back and the wound from my arrow on his leg was gone.

I jumped up and stood next to Leo. He had taken his hammer out and I had picked up my bow and sword. The shifter lunged at Leo, but Leo and I were a step ahead of him. While Leo distracted the beast by fighting him I took the opportunity to shoot multiple arrows at his back. The beast growled and shifted his attention to me. Leo then swung his hammer into the back of the wolf's fat head. The wolf whirled around, grabbed Leo and flung him into the wall.

The thing staggered a bit before regaining its balance. I grabbed one of the silver head arrows and aimed it at his chest. I released the arrow and prayed to my dad that it would do the job. But obviously the fates had something else in mind because I missed and angered the beast even more. I was picked up ad flung into a pile of crates. I groaned and picked myself back up. I grabbed another arrow and aimed at his chest again. This time I was successful and the arrow went through hi chest. The lycanthrope let out a scream and clutched his chest. He started shrinking back into an old man before disintegrating into dust.

I let out a sigh of relief and limped over to Leo. He had gotten up too and was now rubbing his head. My back ached where I had hit the crates. I noticed that I also had multiple scratches on my arms and my jeans had ripped at the ends a little.

"You ok?" Leo asked. He didn't look any better than I did. His shirt had ripped where the werewolf had picked him up. His wrists weren't as red anymore, but there were a few bruises littering his arms.

"Yeah just a bit sore. What about you? Do we need to get you checked out for a concussion?" I teased.

"Nah, but I think you need to be checked out. You took quite a beating."

"Me? Please you were the one who was hanging and you got thrown across the room. At least I had a pile of crates to land on."

"Ok, ok. I'll admit I was thrown around, but hey it was worth it. Now I can brag about having survived a werewolf beating." He laughed a bit and I joined him.

"You're such a dork." I shook my head and picked up my sword. It turned back into a ring and I slipped it back on and did the same with my bow and arrows.

I walked over to Leo and hugged him. "I'm glad you're ok." I whispered.

He hugged me back and said, "I am too." I smacked him and he laughed.

"I'm kidding! I'm glad you're ok too. Now let's head out this place is creepy." We walked out the way we came in picking up the bags that were dropped in the office.

"Alright, so New York City?" I asked.

"New York City." Leo confirmed.
