I looked down at my phone, glad i had it on vibrate, to see Sarah texted me. Noticing that Timothy was distracted helping another student i checked to see what it said.
Sarah: Come to the bathroom with me please
I put the phone away and raised my hand once i got his attention i went to the bathroom hoping nothing to serious is happening. I got there to find Sarah with tears in her eyes.
"What happened?" i asked hugging her and she started crying. She didn't answer until her tears subsided.
"I just saw my mom in the hall and she told me if i go anywhere near her kids, especially Sierra, it would be the last thing i would do" she said and my hatred for the woman grew. What the hell is wrong with her anyways? It's not very Catholic of her to threaten her own daughter.
"Honey?" i said kissing her lightly on the lips.
"I guess she thinks my gayness is contagious and that i'm going to spread it to her perfectly straight children" she said and i resisted the urge to tease her for using the word gayness because it's probably not the best time to do that.
"I'm sorry sweetie" i said not sure what else to say.
"What if i never see Sierra again?" she asked her voice cracking.
"You will… we will figure this out" i said but i don't know how we will. I kissed her again and squeezed her hand.
"Unfortunately i think we should probably head back to class" i said and she nodded. "You gonna be ok?"
"Yeah thanks" i said. I smiled and we both left heading back to class.
The softball team is raising money for whatever reason by selling chocolate bars so i decided i should get Sarah one since yet again she's having a rough day. I bought her a peanut butter one since they were all out of carmel and i know peanut butter is her second favorite.
"For you" i said once we were both sitting down at the lunch table.'
"Thanks you're so sweet" she said.
"Don't start" Jesus groaned. "I will sit between you two"Lexi tried hard not to laugh.
"What?'
"It's sickening and i will separate you two" he said being a bit grumpy.
"Ok than grumpy pants we have to remain a three feet distance at home…." i complained.
"You wonder why. Nobody wants to see that it's like seeing moms together" he said.
"I thought you're moms were cute together" Sarah remarked.
"Did you shatter his heart or something?" i asked Lexi who just shook her head no.
"No he's just pissed because he failed his world cultures test" lexi said sticking her tongue out at him.
"I got a 67 thats not technically failing" he said and we laughed.
"Way to go Jesus" i teased
"So are we still on for tonight?" Lexi asked. Me, Sarah and Lexi are going back to my house after school. We asked if we can go to Sarah's apartment but my moms didn't like the idea that much.
"Yeah and with you there we might be able to go in my room and not be constantly checked on." I said hopefully.
Sarah
My phone rang in my pocket making me jump. I signaled for Mariana to turn down the music and then answered the call from my sister.
"Me and Sierra are moving in with you" she said and i couldn't believe what i heard. It wasn't even a statement it was a question.
"What?" i asked realizing that she's crying.
"I'm not going to live here anymore i hate them and who's going to take care of Sierra if i leave." she said trying to calm herself down. Jess has never been the impulsive teenager to just get mad and try to runaway. Now she's talking about not only running away but kidnapping.
"Jess take a deep breath and just think about this. You can't just up and leave with Sierra, thats kidnapping." I said.
"Well what am i suppose to do i can't live here anymore and someone needs to take care of Sierra. Tyler is still watching cartoon network and thinks he's funny when he says the words boobs or sex and i dont even think he knows what sex is. Mom and dad, yeah right they can't raise children" she said crying. My gram on my moms side, not the one who is in a nursing home for having dementia thats my dad's mom, was the one who practically raised me, Jess and Tyler. She used to live with us but two months before Sierra was born she passed away and therefore i ended up raising Sierra. My mom and dad know how to change diapers, cook, clean and appear like perfect parents when others were around. They were never good at actually raising a child and never showed much interest in it. They just always threw the responsibility on someone else.
"Jess what happened?" i asked. "Is everyone ok?"
"Everyones fine, i just can't handle mom anymore. Sierra needs you and they are not helping matters" she said. Out of the two of them mom is the worst. Dad at least some what tries to be a good dad. When she said Sierra needs you I felt my control slipping. Without even knowing what's going on, although i'm sure she can guess, Mariana hugged me. It helped a little bit.
"Jess…"
"Sierra needs to be raised by her mom, thats you"
