Chapter eight. Their feelings

Kukai was happily walking down the hallways, heading to the Snakes' room. Everything was normal, until he passed by The Guards' room and a hand grabbed him, pulling him inside.

"What—"

"Shh." The one putting telling him to be silent was Utau.

He observed that besides the two of them, there were Nagihiko, Tadase, Rima and Yaya.

"What's going on?" He asked.

"We have a plan to make Amu and Ikuto talk with each other again." Utau told him.

"Oh." Kukai said. "We really should do something about that."

"I told them we shouldn't meddle in their business." Rima said about to take a bite from her cookie, when Nagihiko approached and bit it in her place.

She blushed and handed it to him.

"It's been already two weeks since they haven't said a word to each other, Rima." Utau told her.

Kukai smiled and kissed Utau's cheek and she blushed. He knew she was worried about Amu. Kukai observed too the change in the pinkette's attitude since her birthday party. The two groups would often hang out together, but if Amu would be there, Ikuto wouldn't and it Ikuto would be present, Amu wouldn't.

They were the only ones in their groups unhappy. Utau and Kukai became an official couple since that day before Amu's birthday, Tadase and Yaya are happier than ever and Rima and Nagihiko spend a lot of time together lately. Utau wanted, as well as Kukai, for everyone to be happy.

"Ok, what's the plan?" Kukai asked.

"That's what we want to know too." Rima said. "She wouldn't tell us unless everyone was here." The blonde continued pointing to the group's leader.

"So, " Utau begun with a cough. "It's obvious that they have feelings for each other but their ego is too big. I think that everything they need is a little push from behind." She said with a smirk. "I say we organize a trip."

"Wait, wait Utau-chan, how will we make both of them come? You know how they avoid each other." Yaya interfered.

"That's exactly why we won't tell them." Utau replied, making everyone look at her suspicious.

"Ikuto, just the friend I was searching for!" Kukai said as he spread his arms.

The blue-haired boy raised one eyebrow and crawled in hands in his pockets. "You're in front of my house, who else would you be meeting?"

"Right, right!" The brown-haired boy said stretching the back of his neck.

"What's up?" Ikuto asked.

"Well you see, we're organizing a trip and we want you to come too, so I thought I should tell you the details."

"'We'?"

"Me, Nagihiko, Tadase, Utau, Yaya and Rima." Kukai counted.

Ikuto looked at him suspicious. "What about her?"

'This guy, he won't even say her name.' Kukai thought.

"Oh, you mean Amu? She's gone on a trip with her family, sadly." He said serious.

"Ikuto? His grandmother died and he's going to her funeral. He can't come." Utau said with fake disappointment and a sigh.

"Oh." Was all Amu said as she looked away, trying to cover her disappointment. "When and where?"

"Yokohama, this weekend. Make sure to come." Utau said and left, accepting only a 'yes' as an answer.

"So, how did it go?" Kukai asked jumping on his bed. He was talking with Utau over the phone.

"Perfect, she'll definitely come." The blonde replied proud. "What about Ikuto?"

"He'll come too, you should have seen his face when he heard Amu doesn't come!"

Utau giggled. "Let's hope everything will go well."

"Of course it will, it's the plan you made after all."

"Amu, hurry!" Yaya yelled as she kept running, dragging Amu along.

Hinamori Amu knew her good and bad points well-running wasn't one of her good ones. She was running as if her life was on the line while in reality, the only thing on the line was a train ticket.

What annoyed her was that she was sure Utau told her the train leaves at 10 am, which meant she could leave her house at 9:20 and make it to the station just in time. It was pure luck that she woke up earlier that morning and had time to get ready, for Yaya was in front of her door at 8:30 saying how they will lose the train if they don't hurry.

"The last call for the train for Yokohama, the door are closing. I repeat, the last call."

In that moment, Yaya and Amu literally jumped in the train and the doors closed behind them. Yaya and Amu were on the floor breathing hard.

"I'm so.. going to kill.. Utau.." Amu said between breaths.

"Hey, they are in!" Kukai's voice was heard.

Amu looked up to see the rest of the gang staring at the two of them, smiling. She got up and glared at Utau.

"10, you said."

"10? Oh, my bad, I wanted to say 9." The blonde said laughing.

"Now that we're all here, let's get you two to our seats." Tadase said with a smile.

Amu was more than excited to sit down and rest. That was all she thought about as they walked to their seats. Yaya, Tadase, Rima and Nagihiko were sitting on the left side while Utau, Kukai and Amu were supposed to sit on the right side. Just as Amu was about to mentally complain how she will be sitting with a couple, she spotted a familiar figure. When Utau and Kukai stopped right in front of the seats they were supposed to, Amu's mouth dropped. Ikuto was there, sleeping with his arms crossed and a peaceful look on his face.

Amu looked at her friends with a shocked look, but all of them avoided her eyes.

Ikuto woke up and immediately knew he wasn't in his bed. He remembered the trip and that he fell asleep in the train.

He slowly opened his eyes and the very first thing he saw was a very angry and very, very beautiful Hinamori Amu. She was looking at him, her arms crossed, her legs one above the other and a pissed look on her beautiful face.

"A dream?" He asked, his mind half-asleep.

"More like a nightmare." Amu replied grumpy.

Ikuto opened his eyes wider and realized she was real and in front of him. His heart was beating faster and he was happy, he couldn't deny it. Even thought that was how she felt, he only looked out the window, avoiding her eyes. They haven't been talking for two weeks and it was mostly his fault.

Their fight began because of her and that bet, but she kept apologizing and he knew she was honest. For the name of God, he liked her so much he would have forgiven her even if she didn't apologize, but he was too stupid and proud. He was about to tell her to forget everything and just go back to how they were when she stopped coming to him. She begun ignoring him. His pride was so hurt he didn't even think about going to her and talk with her.

He couldn't even look at her now. Of course she was mad, he acted childish. Maybe now he could make things right.

They arrived at the Yokohama station in the next five minutes. They took their luggage and headed to the hotel they will be spending the night at. All this time he tried waking beside her but when he would come close, she would slow down or walk faster. She was obviously avoiding him.

They soon arrived at the hotel which was very close to the beach. The boys shared a room while the girls had other room. After dropping his luggage, Ikuto decided to go in the lobby and wait for the others since they decided to go eat, then spend the day on the beach then go on the forest. While he walked down the hallway, Amu came out of the girls' room. They were silent for a moment, staring at each other until Amu turned around, ignoring him.

"How long will you keep doing this?" He asked.

"Me?" She asked without turning around. "You ignored me for a whole week and I don't even have the right to turn my back to you once."

"You're acting like a brat."

She turned around. He expected her to be angry, but she wasn't. She looked as calm as ever. "And I suppose that when you turned your back at me every time I tried to explain you things and apologize was very mature. You're the brat here." She said and turned around walking away.

He clenched his teeth and fist. She annoyed him to no end because she was right.

The time they spent at the beach was more enjoyable than Ikuto thought it would be. Amu, Yaya, Tadase and Kukai played in the water for most of time while Ikuto, Nagihiko, Rima and Utau stood on the beach playing cards. They would change places once in a while, but Amu and Ikuto would never be in the same place. They were avoiding each other again.

"I'm soooo hungry." Yaya said as they headed to the hotel to change clothes and take a shower.

"I'm hungry too." Amu said.

"We'll take some food with us in the forest." Nagihiko said.

"Why do we have to go there?" Rima asked.

"There's a really beautiful lake. It's said that if you see the full moon's reflection in it, you can make a wish that will definitely come true." Utau told them.

"Uuu, it sounds so exciting!" Yaya said happily.

"I never thought you'd believe in things like this." Ikuto told the blonde who blushed in response.

Amu didn't look at him once and he was getting more and more annoyed. He decided to let her be mad and enjoy the rest of the trip with his friends.

They finished their shower in half an hours and met in front of the hotel.

Amu was ready and excited. Ikuto managed to piss her off at the beginning of the day but when she decided to just ignore him, she actually enjoyed the day. She was quite tired but she wouldn't miss the trip to the forest.

"Ready?" Utau asked excited.

"I think it's kind of late." Nagihiko said looking at the last rays of sun.

"That's the idea, we have to see the full moon." Kukai replied taking his girlfriend's hand.

"Fine by me." Tadase joined. "Let's go." He was fine with it as long as Yaya was happy.

The teenagers headed to the forest, the couples walking together. Being the only ones not official, Rima and Nagihiko got stuck with Ikuto and Amu on their heads. Rima was fine with it while Nagihiko was thinking of a gentler way of telling them to go away so that he could be alone with Rima.

While they were walking, Nagihiko suddenly stopped.

"Did you hear that?" He asked serious.

"Nice try but we won't get scared because of this." Kukai replied.

"I'm serious."

In the next moment all of them heard a loud howl.

"A-A wolf?" Utau asked scared.

Tadase moved his flashlight and put it on some wolves. Everyone backed off slowly but the wolves ran after them.

Amu was terrified. She has always been scared of dogs and now they weren't even dogs but wolves. She ran where she could and after what it felt like forever, she observed she lost eyes scanned her surroundings and she observed the wolfs weren't the only thing she lost. She lost her friends as well.

Amu sighed. She figured out they couldn't be that far, but she was afraid she might meet the wolves again. She was worried, but the best she could do was go to the hotel and ask for help. Sadly, she didn't have a flashlight. Her legs made a few slow and careful steps trying to find a road.

Ikuto was worried sick. He and the others were at the entrance in the forest, everyone was there besides Amu.

"We should call the police, we can't go back there." Utau said.

"I'm going after her." Ikuto said without thinking any longer.

"Are you nuts?!" Kukai asked grabbing his wrist and stopping him.

Ikuto glared at him. "If Utau would be in her place, would you wait for the damn police to arrive?!" He snapped making everyone speechless.

"We'll hurry with the police and come after you, take the flashlight." Nagihiko said and threw it to him.

Ikuto nodded and left running.

He ran around and yelled her name a while, he was worried sick. His mind was filled with the worst of thoughts. He could barely breath and he almost lost hope. He suddenly stopped.

"Amu!" He yelled as loud as he could.

"Here!" Her voice echoed.

He looked in the direction her voice came from.

"I'm here!" She yelled again.

He found her in less than a minute following her voice. She was on the ground, her leg red. He was breathing hard but the first thing he did was kneel next to her and hug her. Even though she seemed calm, when he hugged her he felt she was shaking.

"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I'm sorry, I was an idiot. God, I'm so sorry." He kept repeating.

"It's ok." She replied. "It's ok Ikuto, it was my fault too. I'm fine now.."

"I thought I lost you."

When she heard that, a tear fell from her eyes. She was so happy he found her.

He slowly pulled away and kissed her and he knew the feeling he had was something he could only feel once in a lifetime.

During the next hour Ikuto brought Amu back to the hotel, carrying her in his arms, the police came and inspected the forest and it turned out they weren't wolves but dogs. Even so, they were took to a shelter. After things calmed down and Amu's leg was bandaged, they decided to go to the beach and light some fireworks. Everyone was smiling seeing the two of them were once again together.

Amu was watching her friends lighting the fireworks from aside. The night, salty air was dreamy and the endless sea in front of her was very beautiful.

Ikuto came next to her and sat on the sand. They held hands and she put her head on his shoulder.

Amu was looking at Rima who was trying to light a firework but couldn't and Nagihiko who came to help her.

"They'll definitely become a couple in a week." Ikuto said.

"A week? I give them three days." Amu replied.

"Want to make a bet?" He asked.

She looked at him and saw him smirking.

"No." She replied and they both started laughing.
