Chapter 4

Percy's New Brother

Have you ever gone home (or back to your cabin), and realized that your siblings decided to try and organize your things, when they were already organized? That's how I felt going back to the Athena cabin. All my siblings tackled me with hugs.

Once I broke away from all my siblings I finished unpacking. I rejoined Percy and Tyson. We decided to go up the Big House, just to see if we could talk to this new guy. Instead we ran into Chiron.

I hugged him. "Chiron, what's happening? You're not leaving?"

"Hello, child. And Percy, my goodness, you've grown!"

"Clarisse said you were... you were..." Percy said struggling with his words.

"Fired." Chiron finished. "Ah, well, someone had to take the blame. Lord Zeus was upset. The tree he had created was poisoned. Mr. D had to punish someone."

"Besides himself, you mean." Percy muttered, with his amazing sense of humor.

"But this is crazy! You couldn't have anything to do with poisoning her tree!"

"Nevertheless, some in Olympus don't trust me, considering the circumstances."

"What circumstances?" Percy asked.

Chiron sighed and continued packing his saddleback, with Frank Sinatra singing in the background. Tyson decided to talk to Chiron.

"Pony?" he asked.

"My dear young Cyclops! I am a centaur."

"Chiron, what about the tree?" Percy asked. "What happened?"

"The poison used on Thalia's pine tree was something from deep in the Underworld. Some venom I have never even seen. It must come from a monster deep in the pit of Tartarus."

"Then we know who's responsible. Kro-"

"Do not conjure the titan lord's name. Especially not now."

"But- last summer he tried to cause a civil war at Olympus! It has to be him! He'd get Luke to get it, that traitor." he mumbled. It still hurt to hear those words as much, as it surprised me. I know Percy used to like him, but then he was mad that Luke betrayed me.

"Perhaps, but I fear I am being held responsible because I didn't prevent it and I can't cure it. This tree will only last a few weeks... unless-"

"Unless what?" I asked.

"No, a foolish thought. Camp Half-Blood is dying."
"What is it? We'll go find it!" Percy said eagerly, wanting to do as much as he can.

Chiron sighed, and closed his saddle bag. He turned off the radio and put his hand on Percy's shoulder.

"Percy, you must promise me you will not act rashly. I told your mother not to send you to camp this summer. It is much too dangerous. But, now that you are here, stay. Train hard, learn to fight, and do not leave."

"Why?" Percy complained. "I want to do something! I can't just stay here and let the borders fall. The whole camp will be-"

"Overrun with monsters, I know. You need to stay here and train."

I was trying hard not to cry, this was just so frustrating. We just had to sit here, and see camp destroyed. Chiron brushed a tear from my cheek.

"Stay with Percy. Keep him safe, remember the prophecy."

That horrible prophecy, that would ruin my crushes life.

"I-I will." I said straightening up.

"Um... Would this be the super dangerous prophecy that has me in it, but the gods told you not to tell me?" Percy asked.

Neither one of us answered, because he was right.

"Just checking." he muttered to himself.

"Chiron... You told me the gods made you immortal only so long as you were to train heroes. If they dismiss you from camp-"

"Promise to keep Percy safe, swear upon the river Styx."

"I swear upon the river Styx that I will keep Percy safe."

"Good. Now I will go visit my kinsmen in the Everglades."

The coach horn blew in the distance.

"Go, you must meet Tantalus now. I will call your mother Percy, and let her know that you are staying here. Remember my warning." he said. With that he walked out.

"Pony! Don't go!" Tyson yelled. Tyson started to cry almost as much as I was. Camp this year was going to be a lot different now.

When we got to the dining pavilion, I told Percy I would meet up with him later. As soon as everyone was at the dining pavilion Percy led Tyson to the middle of the pavilion.

"Well, if it isn't Peter Johnson." Dionysus said. It makes me so mad that he does that.

"Percy Jackson, sir." Percy muttered.

"Yes, well as you people say these days, whatever."

Dionysus turned to the thin man sitting next to him. "You have to watch this one, he's a son of Poseidon."

"Ah, that one. I am Tantalus. On a special assignment. And you Perseus Jackson, I do expect you to stop causing trouble."

"Trouble?" Percy asks.

Dionysus threw Percy the newspaper with him on the front. The title read: "13 Year Old Lunatic Blows Up School Gym".

"Yes, trouble. You caused plenty of it last year, I've heard."

Tantalus filled his drink with root beer. He reached out cautiously. Tantalus reached for the glass, and the glass flew across the table. Now I could remember the story about him.

"And on my first day of authority," Tantalus said, standing up and addressing the camp. "I'd like to say what a wonderful form of punishment this will be. Over the summer I would like to torture, er, interact with all of you."

Dionysus clapped, no one else did. "And now some changes!" Tantalus said. "We are bringing back the chariot races! Now, I know these were stopped a while ago because they were so dangerous."

"Three deaths and twenty-six mutilations." Someone called out.

"Yes, but I know all of you will join me on welcoming them back. Laurels will be presented to the winners each month. Teams can register this morning. The first race will be held in three days. You will be realised from some of your current activities so you can prepare your chariots. And the best part is that the winners don't have to do chores for a month!"

"But, sir!" Clarisse said standing up. "What about patrol duty?"

"Ah, the hero of the day. Don't worry you are supposed to enjoy camp! Now about housekeeping, since Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase decided to bring this here," he said referring to Tyson "Usually I would release the thing into the woods because of it's violent nature, but-" he was interrupted just then by a green light. I've only seen this light once before, but I remember it. Above Tyson's head was a glowing green trident. Tyson was a son of Poseidon and was Percy's brother.

Everyone is so mean to Tyson:( it's really sad. Please leave a review thanks for reading!
