Chapter 15

Previously: I smiled to myself, I had Percy with me now, he can help me through this.

Thinking about it now I came to a realization, I liked Percy, like really liked him. Aphrodite campers would say I like like him. Oh my gods, Silena and Grover are going to tease me about this for ages!

"What are we going to do Seaweed Brain?" I asked him hauling him into the boat.

A few hours later Percy finally woke up. By that time I had fastened a makeshift sail out of grey sailor shirts and thanks to the wind we were shooting across the Mediterranean Sea.

To my left Percy tried to sit up.

"Rest, you're going to need it." I say.

"Tyson...?" Percy asked.

I shook my head. "I'm really sorry Percy." I tell him sincerely.

After a few awkward silent moments I decided to try and console him. "He might have survived, you know being a cyclops in all." I said, even though I doubted it. I had seen the explosion rip through solid iron if Tyson had still been in the boiler room there is no way he could have survived.

Waves continued to lap the sides of our lifeboat while I showed Percy the few things I had salvaged from the wreck. We had Hermes Thermos (now empty), a small bag of ambrosia, more gray sailor shirts, and a whole litter of Dr. Pepper. I told him about how I pulled him out of the water and grabbed his Hermes vitamins and his backpack.

Hours past by agonizing slow. We were now officially in the Sea of Monsters, the water glittered a green color almost like monster acid. The air smelt fresh and salty with a weird metallic scent too. Percy informed me that we are exactly one hundred thirteen nautical miles west by northwest from our destination.

No matter where we looked the sun was always blinding us. We took turns sipping from the Dr. Pepper bottle, trying to shade ourselves with the sail. Percy told me his latest dream about Grover, it was as terrifying as the first one.

By my rough estimate we had about one day to find Grover before he got married to the cyclops Polyphemus, unless if the cyclops made Grover get married faster.

"Yeah," Percy said bitterly. "You can never trust a cyclops."

I looked over at the water. "I'm sorry Percy. I was really wrong about Tyson, okay? I wish I could go back and tell him that."

I could tell that Percy was a bit upset with me, Percy could never stay angry at me for too long.

"Annabeth, what is Chiron's prophecy?"

I pursed my lips. "Percy, I shouldn't-"

"I know Chiron promised to the gods that he wouldn't tell me, but you didn't promise, right?"

"Knowledge isn't always good for you."

"Your mom is the wisdom goddess, Annabeth!" he said raising his voice.

"Believe me, I know! Every time a hero tries to learn the future they try and change it and it doesn't work."

"The gods are worried that I will try and change it when I turn sixteen." he guessed.

I took off my Yankees hat and twisted it in my hands. "Percy, I don't know the full prophecy, but it says the next half-blood child of the Big Three to turn sixteen will be a dangerous weapon."

Percy's eyebrow scrunched together. "Why?"

"Because that hero will determine the fate of Olympus. The child will have to make a decision to save the gods or destroy them."

He turned a little paler. "Is that why Kronus didn't kill me last summer?"

"Yes, you could help him if he gets you on his side, the gods would be in trouble then."

"But if it is me in the prophecy-"

"We'll only know that if you manage to survive three more years. That can be a long time for a child of the gods. When Chiron first learned about Thalia he thought she was going to be the one. But, then she got turned into a pine tree and none of us knew what to think. Then you came along." I said looking up.

On the port side of the lifeboat a giant green dorsal fin slid out of the water and disappeared.

"This kid in the prophecy... he or she can't be a cyclops or nyad right?" Percy questioned.

"No the Oracle stated 'a half-blood' will answer the prophecy. There's really no one else but you right now that could fulfill the prophecy."

"Then why am I still alive? Shouldn't the gods just kill me?"

"They should." I agreed.

"Thanks a lot." Percy huffed.

I sighed. "Percy, I just don't know. Some of the gods would love to kill you, but then they would have to face your dad... Others gods are judging you trying to figure out what kind of a hero you will be. You could either be the halfblood that destroys Olympus or the half blood that could help the gods survive for millennium. Everyone is waiting to see what you will do in three years."

"Did the prophecy give us any hints?"

I hesitated, it was too early to tell Percy the prophecy he would have nightmares about like I do.

I would have probably told him no, but a seagull landed on our makeshift mast. I gaped at the seagull as it dropped a handful (or a beakfull...) of leaves onto my lap.

"Land! There must be land nearby!" I stood up excitedly. Percy stood up next to me in front of us sure enough there was a small island with a volcano in the distance sporting Greek style white buildings and a sandy beach.

As our rowboat approached the strange island I noticed the strange collection of boats in the harbor. There was a pirate ship that looked like it popped out of Pirates of the Caribbean, several sailboats, a few yachts, a very old U.S Navy submarine, and two dugout canoes.

"Welcome!" a lady said walking over to us. She looked like a flight attendant; blue business suit, heavy makeup, hair pulled up in a ponytail, and a I-don't-really-want-to-be-here smile. "Is this your first time here with us at the spa?"

"Umm..." I said, looking over to Percy, he raised an eyebrow as if he was asking Is this lady for real?

"The first time at spa." she said slowing writing on her clipboard. "Hmm, lets see." She looked us over critically. "A herbal wrap for you young lady and a complete makeover of the young man."

"A what?" Percy asked. I stifled a laugh.

The lady didn't respond, but scribbled something down on her clipboard. "Alright! I am positive that C.C will want to speak to you both personally. Follow me please." she started to walk off.

I looked over at Percy again. This looked way too good it had to be a trap.

"I guess it couldn't hurt." I said following the lady with the clipboard. Percy stuffed his hands in his pockets and followed.

The spa was in one word amazing. White marble and sparkling blue water was everywhere I looked. Swimming pools were on every level connected by underwater tubes, water slides, and lazy rivers. Marble fountains drizzled everywhere forming horses, manatees, dogs, and even the gods.

"Are you okay?" I asked Percy, he looked ghostly pale.

"I'm alright lets just keep walking."

We passed tame animals lounging ubiquitously. A sea turtle sleeping in a stack of towels, a leopard on the diving board the only guest at the spa were young women also lounging all around.

Finally, we can to a big room where to the walls were all windows and mirrors. White furniture, tables, and a large wire cage with guinea pigs.

Then I saw the women that the clipboard lady must have been talking about. She was weaving a drapery. It was a waterfall scene so realistic it look as if the water was moving.

"It's beautiful." I said in awe.

The women weaving it turned to face us. She had dark hair braided with gold threads and powerful green eyes. She was wearing a black flowy dress with moving shapes.

"Do you like my weaving dear?"

"Yes madame! My mother is-" I stopped myself from blabbering about my million year old goddess mother.

"You have wonderful taste dear, I am very happy you came. My name is C.C. Oh dear," she said looking us over. "You do need my help. Hylla take Annabeth on a tour and give her a makeover. Change the clothes, and the hair." She said with disgust.

"What's wrong with my hair?" I asked.

"My dear you are lovely, you're just not showing your full self. There's so much wasted potential!"

"Wasted?"

"Don't worry, this way dear." Hylla said guiding me over to the gardens.

Hylla gave me a tour of the spa. At the end of the tour we came to a room with large mirror and several chairs. Hylla motioned for me to sit down on a chair in front of a mirror.

Another girl almost identical to Hylla came in. "Hello my name is Reyna. Now lets see about your makeover."

Review Question: Who do you think is the funniest character?

For me it would be a tie between Leo and Percy. They are both so funny, they make me laugh for days. :)
