CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
As the music filled the Timmy Cave, A.J. eyed Timmy out of the corner of his eye. Timmy, no longer in the swimsuit, but in shorts and a shirt, was getting better. However, the weight he had lost through the year and injuries he sustained, had taken their toll on him physically and mentally. It was obvious his buck toothed friend had been through some very rough things. A.J., while keeping his weapon aimed at the other kid, who was, also, holding a similar weapon, put himself between Timmy and the three intruders that had entered the base. A.J., then, stated,
"You know, Timmy, their being a music group really has no bearing on whether or not they're a threat. Think about K.I.S.S.. Who would have thought that they were really fa...," A.J. cast a look at the three individuals, worried about whether or not to reveal what he knew. Then suddenly, the platypus, of all things, spoke,
"That they were Fairy Warriors. Yes A.J. I know who they are, and I can assure you we have not been sent by M.E.R.F. In fact, we're here to try and stop M.E.R.F."
"Well, Django," said Candace, "what do we do now?"
The boy with Candace knelt down to the mailbox; he saw a series of buttons.
"It must be a type of combination that you have to punch in."
"Well, duh," said Candace, "but how do we break the combination"
Django Brown stood there think and then snapped his fingers. He turned to Candace and said,
"I've got it!"
"Did...,that platypus just speak," said Timmy.
"Yes, Timmy," said the platypus, "my name is Perry and I'm a secret agent for the O.W.C.A."
"A government organization, like M.E.R.F.," said A.J., "didn't they get the genetic engineering from O.W.C.A."
"Yes, they did," said Perry, "but only reluctantly; at the time we had no choice but to share it with M.E.R.F. since we were both government agencies."
"At the time?," asked A.J., "what changed?"
"When M.E.R.F. decided to use that technology for evil," said Phineas.
A.J. still looked a little suspicious, but then Timmy spoke,
"Uh, A.J...,"
"Timmy," said A.J., "no, how do we know if they're being honest. There are other individuals who know of fairies and I know you like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that has gotten you in trouble before. I'm not going let you get hurt again"
It looked like it was going to be a standoff, until Ferb noticed something. About A.J. and Timmy. There was something very familiar about the way A.J. was looking at Timmy. He noticed it when A.J. put himself between Ferb, Phineas, Perry and Timmy. He was shielding his friend from potential danger.
The look the African American boy was giving Timmy, and the actions, his protectiveness of him was the same that Ferb, gave to Phineas whenever his brother was in trouble; that of one brother looking out for another brother. A.J.'s putting himself between his best friend and what he perceived were potential enemies. It was exactly the same action that Ferb had taken when it looked the 2nd dimension Doofenshmirz looked like he was going to kill Phineas and Perry.
Ferb, also, had read up Timmy Turner some. He knew that Timmy had been kidnapped by someone earlier this year and had nearly been killed. Ferb, also, knew that Todd and Teresa Turner had temporarily lost custody of their son due to neglect, and that Timmy was now living with A.J.'s family. The red haired boy, now, realized how to deal with this situation. He did something he usually didn't do. He spoke up.
"A.J.," said Ferb, "I know you are suspicious of us, and you have every reason to be. I know about Timmy's kidnapping and it looks like he's been badly hurt again. Phineas is technically my stepbrother, but we very rarely refer to ourselves as "stepbrothers". As far as we're concerned, we're every much brothers as brothers who share the same parents. From what you've said, I take it Timmy can be naïve about some things. Well, Phineas can be too, and that's not a cut down on either one of them. In fact, their trusting nature can be a good thing, but it can also put them in danger. That's where you come in; you're like me in the sense that our brothers don't always realize how dangerous certain people can be. You and I A.J., are the realistic balance in the dynamic of our brotherly relationships."
Phineas looked at amazement at his normally very silent brother. Ferb was, often, so quiet it was easy to forget how perceptive he could be. It, also, seemed to be working. A.J. seemed to be a little calmer. That was when Ferb spoke up again,
"I tell you what; to show our good faith, I'm going to put down my ray gun on the floor. When I do that, what do we all have a seat, and then we can talk.
An extremely short chapter I know. Please review. Oh, Bookwormgal, I hope you didn't mind but Ferb's speech and his thoughts were somewhat reminiscent of Wanda's thoughts about Norm and Amanda in Never Had a Friend like Me.
