Rows and rows of colorful dresses lined the department store. "I'm already getting a headache. Kate, we are never going to find something that I like.." Kate walked over to me in a puffy bright pink dress. How the hell did she get that on? We just walked in here!
"What do you think of this one?" She asked eagerly. My eyes examined the dress quickly.
"You look like a pink balloon." I said in a bored tone.
Kate sighed, grabbing three more dresses off the racks. "Aren't you going to try any on?" I shook my head slowly. "Don't you want to at least look?" I shook my head slowly. "But you have to wear a dress!" I shook my head slowly. She paused for a few seconds. "Nationals are better than the Braves." I shook my head slowly. "You aren't even paying attention!" She barked. A dress smacked me in the face all of a sudden. "Try it on."
I groaned, walking over to one of the fitting room stalls. As I pulled my tank top off over my head, I suddenly felt a tweak in my rib. A small whimper escaped my mouth. Damn, I really thought it was healing. The dress Kate had me try on was an orange frilly monstrosity. I walked out of the room awaiting Kate's critique. Her mouth fell open. I thought she was going to laugh but instead, she swooned over it. This happened for about eight other dresses. Kate had already picked her's out. Feeling down, I walked to the back of the store, turning down every dress I saw. As I turned to go back to the front, my foot got caught on the train of one of the dresses. I fell to the ground with a thud. Typical! "I'm so done with this shit! Ben is going to have to find a new- What's this?" A small sparkled caught the corner of my eye.
As I pulled out the fallen dress from all the others, my eyes widened. The dress was a beaded strapless gown. The bodice was a nude color, accentuated by aqua floral embellishments. The sweetheart neckline and gathered skirt formed a fitted waist, with lace inset trimmed at full length skirt. The aqua and nude lace merged around each other, complimenting the dress further. Quickly, I rushed to the fitting room and threw on the dress. As soon as the bottom of the dress hit the floor, I walked out, waiting for Kate. Her eyes lit up. "S-Summer.. this dress is gorgeous. I'm speechless." She chuckled.
"This is definitely the one." After I got dressed back up, we took our dresses to the cashier. Kate paid for her dress and I placed mine on the counter. The cashier looked all over the dress, his eyebrows furrowed. "Is something wrong?" I asked.
He looked up to me. "Where exactly did you find this dress?" I pointed to the exact area, indicating under the other dresses. "That's strange. This dress isn't registered in our system." My heart sank. Does that mean I can't get the dress? The cashier looked at me with a sad smile. "Let's keep this between you and me." He whispered, putting the dress in a bag. "Have a good time." He winked.
"Thank you so much!" I smiled, walking out the door with Kate. That was a close one.
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"I'll give you a kiss."
"I don't want a kiss."
"Yes you do."
"Are you done?"
"Are you going to show me the dress?"
"NO!" I barked, walking into my room. What a nosy brat! Solana walked up to me with a girl I've never actually met before. She was the girl who was with Kate and Keith the day Ben and I were attacked. Her vibrant green hair stood out against her pale complexion. She is actually really pretty. Like holy shit. "Hey Solana. Hi.. uhh?"
The girl smiled sweetly. "Wendy." She held her hand out, which I shook firmly. "You're Summer, right?" I nodded. "You wouldn't happen to be the girl Ben is going with to the dance, would you?"
I nodded shyly, feeling heat rise to my cheeks. "Yea that's me."
"Ben wasn't kiddin' when he was describin' you!" Ohh gods, what did he say. "You really are gorgeous!"
My heart skipped a beat. "B-Ben said that..? About me?" I stuttered slightly. Solana and Wendy looked to each other giggling. "What about you two? Who's taking you?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'm going with Lunick, of course. And Sven is taking her." I've heard his name before, but I can' remember what he looks like. I'll see him again sooner or later. Same with Lunick. "Wendy, Sven, Lunick and I are all in the same advanced medical courses. Instead of graduating last year, we stayed another year to take the medical course." I nodded my head. They do look a bit older. "But anyway, we will be seeing you around!" I waved them goodbye. After they left, I folded my dress neatly and placed it in my dresser. Maybe I'll go see Torchic.
I walked out of the dorm room, making my way to the staircase. "Please?" Ben came up behind me. Instead of yelling, I turned around to face him. He looked at me eagerly. I leaned up, resting my lips on his cheek gently. When I pulled away and began walking down the stairs, he reached for my hand. My heart pounded in my chest as we walked down the stairs, hand in hand. "What brought that on?" He asked, a cheeky grin spread across his face.
"You have really good friends." I smiled.
He thought for a few seconds. "Wendy." He laughed. This is the first time I've ever felt this way.. First time a guy has ever made me weak at my knees. I don't know what it is about him but.. Oh my gods.. Do I love Ben?
We walked to the stable, hand in hand. "Torchic, tor!" Torchic ran up to me, hopping into my arms. Ben walked over to Donphan's stall. "Tor, torchic?"
I smiled. "Yeah, girl. He asked me to the dance." I whispered. Torchic jumped up and down in my arms. "What do you say we go for a walk and talk?" She nodded, hopping onto my head. "I'll be outside." I informed Ben but I don't think he heard. Torchic and I walked outside. A chilly breeze blew threw my hair, nearly knocking Torchic off my head. Goosebumps spread across my arms. "Torchic.. I have a really bad feeling."
"H-hey! The Pokemon are really freaking out in there. Any idea what is going-" A terrible roar came from the woods. I backed into Ben, griping onto his shirt.
"What was that..?" I strained. Ben's arm made it's way around my waist. Torchic jumped off my head, growling at the woods. We watched in terror as trees toppled over as the huge Pokemon made its way to us. It roared again, getting closer and closer. Ben began pulling me towards the stable. We ran in, closing the doors. "What are we going to do?" I asked frantically. He paced through the aisles, shaking his head. The booming footsteps came to a halt. I ran to a crack in the wall, looking to see what was going on. "Ohh my gods.." A giant Tyranitar stood at the treeline. Why is he so abnormally tall? I backed away from the crack in the wall, nearly stumbling over a bucket. The Pokemon in the stable went berserk. They kicked at their stalls, trying to break free. Pokemon.. Torchic! "Ben! I have to save her!"
I ran towards the doors. Ben grabbed my arm. "No. No way. That thing will kill you." He pulled me away from the exit.
"Let me go!" I begged. "She needs me!"
Ben spun me around. I looked up at him. Fear was evident in his eyes. "I need you." He whispered. My heart pounded in my chest. A pinging metallic sound became louder. "What is that?"
I know that sound.. Hyper Beam. "No.. Torchic!" I pushed Ben away from me, sprinting to the doors. The icy wind hit my body as I pushed the doors open. Tyranitar's Hyper Beam was charging, while Torchic growled at him. "Torchic!" I called. Just as Tyranitar released the Hyper Beam, I grabbed Torchic, tumbling off to the side. Tyranitar roared in anger. Torchic jumped form my arms, running towards Tyranitar. "Stop! You're too small!" She went anyway, using Ember.
Tyranitar didn't even flinch, taking practically no damage. He took a wider stance, and used Screech. I yelled out in pain, covering my ears tightly. I opened my eyes, trying to concentrate past the constant ringing in my ears. Torchic attacked again, the fire not even making a mark. "Summer!" Ben called from the stable. "Get over here!" I shook my head. Torchic needs help.
He used Rock Slide, only missing by mere inches. I lifted my wrist up. "Captu- You have got to be kidding me!" How could I have forgotten my styler again? Suddenly, a bright light surrounded Torchic. I shielded my eyes. As the light dimmed down, a new Pokemon stood tall. Combusken.. Tyranitar didn't stop, though. Another Hyper Beam. Combusken dodged the attack easily, sprinting over to me. She was about waist tall, yet smooth and agile. I looked up at Tyranitar. His attention was no longer on Combusken or I. He aimed his Hyper Beam straight for the stable. My heart sank instantly. Ben.. "No.." I whispered, taking a step forwards. On instinct, I sprinted in front of the stable. Ben tried to get to me but I pushed him inside, closing and locking the doors.
"Summer! Let me out now!" He yelled furiously. His fists pounded against the door.
I breathed in deeply. "I'm sorry. I'm not going to let you get hurt." Tyranitar charged his Hyper beam. "Stop!" I yelled, holding my arms up. The giant Pokemon paused looking down at me. "Please, you don't want to do this. Think of all the Pokemon you would hurt. I-I don't know how you got here, but please, there is no need to be angry at anything. You can go home to wherever you came from." I pleaded. "No one is going to hurt you." I took a few steps closer, reaching my hand out. The Tyranitar knelt down, lowering his head to me. My heart pounded in my chest. "See? I'm not going to hurt you." My voice was soothing. He nodded, allowing me to rest my hand on top of his head. I patted it a few times, feeling my nerves begin to wear down. "Go home, okay?" He nodded, standing back up. Combusken walked over to me as Tyranitar walked back the way he came, until he was out of sight. The wind slowed down, calmly flowing through my hair.
What just happened? That was so random and uncalled for. I walked lifelessly to the stable. My hands fumbled as I unlocked the doors. Instantly, Ben pushed through them. "What the hell was that?" He asked angrily, walking up to me. "Are you fucking crazy? That thing could have killed you with one attack!"
"The Hyper Beam was aimed at the stable, with you and all the Pokemon still inside. I had to stop Tyranitar from hurting you." I defended.
He scoffed. "Putting yourself in danger and nearly getting killed is not going to help me!" He grabbed my shoulders roughly. "Stop sacrificing yourself for others. That includes people like Kate, Annabelle, Pokemon, and especially me."
"You wouldn't understand." I said bluntly, looking at the ground. Ben scoffed loudly, releasing my shoulders. He began pacing uneasily.
"Can't you see what this does to me? I'm always on edge, I-I have a hard time falling asleep, I'm losing my appetite. All because of you." I knew it was too good to be true. All good things always come to an end. It was silly of me to think I could ever be happy. Something is always stepping on- "I'm crazy about you. You are always on my mind. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am really needed. All because of you."
I looked up at him, tears welling up in my eyes. Ben was turned towards the stable, breathing heavily. I walked up to him, spinning him to face me. My hands rested against his chest as he looked down at me with red cheeks. My eyes were glued to his soft pink lips. Without hesitation, I leaned upwards, crashing my lips to his. His hands instantly wrapped around to my back, hugging me closer. Once I was short of breath, I pulled away. He gazed down at me and I did the same. This is the first time I actually feel wanted.
I smiled slightly. "There is a first for everything, right?"
Alrighty, hopefully everyone enjoyed. Till next time. -A
(Since I'm not very good at describing what the dress looks like, if you go to Google and type in 'Mac Duggal Style 81980M' you can find the dress on the website or in images, for anyone who is curious.)
