Chapter 11: Monster

"You must learn to control your anger, Cole." Sensei Wu demanded a little. His white eyebrows furrowed a little. "You could've hurt and possibly made everyone a criminal for helping you escape."

Cole groaned in annoyance while rolling his amber eyes and lay on the table in the bridge. After several hours of searching, the Ninja managed to find Cole normal in the mountains. And after a hot shower and a black tee shirt and pajama pants, the earth ninja laid perfectly still on the mahogany table while checking his new watch constantly. He doesn't want another accident to happen.

News about the transformation has spread like wild fire. Citizens were on the lookout for the green giant in the city. Couldn't believe it that he exposed himself as the Hulk in public and caused a panic. Even the reporter Gayle Gossip calls him the Hulk when he and others saw the footage of the news in the bridge of him on the rooftops. Then it showed the Ninja running away from it all like it was nothing. He just hoped he didn't make them fugitives for letting them help him escape to cause danger. But what was he going to do now?

Cole returned to the present and listened to his teacher's rant about his publicity stunt in the city. He rolled his eyes again as he stared towards the ceiling and prompt himself with his elbows and stared into his teacher's grey eyes. "It wasn't my fault, Sensei." he rebutted.

"Then whose was it?" the elder asked, calming down.

"It was Skalidor's." Zane spoke up, defending for Cole. All eyes were trained towards the ice ninja. After a shower to remove the remaining foam off of them, the Ninja were worried for Cole since the now caused panic in the city. "Cole was watching his heart rate while defending against the Serpentine. But when we were incapacitated to fight and Lloyd almost taken, Cole fended the generals off until Skalidor came up from behind him and caused him to change and cause a panic. I even reviewed from the breaking point of his transformation at two hundred beats. We must be careful on that. But still it wasn't Cole's fault today."

"Yeah it was mostly the Serpentine, Dad." Lucas agreed. Then he turned to Cole. "It may be ours as well a little because we didn't tell him to calm down before his anger happened. We should've told him to take deep breaths or something."

Cole looked at the water ninja to agree with him. They haven't told or gave him advice to calm down his anger before he changed. If he was given advice on it before he changed in the city, then he wouldn't have caused a panic to the people of Ninjago. Then his secret would've been still hidden so he and the others could find a solution for him. But now that his secret has been exposed, they're running out of options before police or scientist raid the Bounty for him. For custody on destruction of property. Or use him as a lab rat on his Hulk form.

Ugh. Even that name was starting to stick to him.

"So what are we going to do now?" Laurie asked, puzzled and concerned. The wind ninja has been in worse situation before with the others like her cousin and brother has, but this was a new one for her and the others. She quickly fixed her fiery red hair into a ponytail to ponder and bring her brother closer to her and wrapped her arms around him protectively while the boy groaned in annoyance. She ignored his whine as she was worried for him before Cole saved him, but was glad to have him by her. "So what are some ways that we can do to help Cole from...this thing in him?"

This thing? That sounded foreign to Cole. But were some ways to help him though? The earth ninja heard a deep hum come from his teacher and averted his eyes to Sensei Wu as his eyes were closed while stroking his long white beard. He's probably pondering a solution. He was a wise man after all. The teacher opened his grey eyes and turned to Cole. "I would like to apologize for snapping towards you, Cole." he mused.

"It's alright, Sensei." Cole said while sitting up on the table now. "You have your right to be mad about this on me."

That's not what the elder wanted to hear on the last part from him. He just wanted an 'apology accepted' not a small...guilt trip. Sensei Wu sighed quietly and looked at all of his students. "As I was saying," he continued. "I know of ways to calm myself down from anger. What I do is take deep breaths and meditate. Zane does the same as well to remain calm and sharpen his mind." He turned to Cole. "So Cole, I'm suggesting you try these methods to hopefully settle the beast within you."

This thing? Beast? Hulk? Cole furrowed his brows as he had it with the names. There wasn't anything inside him. It was just him when he changes; it's still him that can't control his rage. There was nothing else in him. "You think this something to be named?" he hissed. "There is nothing inside me besides me. I have no beast or thing inside. Just me!" He heard the watch beeping again and saw his heart rate rising up. Since he has the Hulk inside, his heart beeps faster than normal. That's how his heart rate increases easily.

"Cole, take deep breaths." Zane advised him. "It'll help slow your heart rate down and keep it below its breaking point."

The earth ninja looked at him to nod and closed his eyes. He drew in a deep breath and slowly exhaled. He repeated the process again and exhaled. He heard the beeping sound decrease and looked at his watch to see it return to normal slowly. "Thanks." he said.

"Cole, as Zane and I said, take heed of our advice." Sensei Wu stated. "As you noticed that deep breaths helped you lower your heart rate. Since now that's step one, step two is to find a hobby to help you calm yourself. What is that you do that makes you calm?"

There was silence. Cole couldn't think of a solution. "Well come on, Cole." said Jay, trying to encourage him. "What is there that doesn't make you annoyed? Inventing? Forging? Video games? Anything?"

Good question. What did make him calm? He enjoys sketching, but can't keep drawing a picture in the middle of a fight. So that's out. Cole kept brainstorming up ideas until he had one. "I think I have a solution." he said. "I enjoy mountain climbing because I love the view and scenery of the mountains and I enjoy the peace and quiet. Maybe that's something I can do. One with my element."

Everyone looked around at each other and was concerned on his idea of peace. It may sound like a good idea, but if he changes and cause destruction to the mountains. Quickly, Kai stepped up. "I think you should find something else than that." he suggested.

Cole felt disappointed. "Why not?" he asked.

"Because mountain climbing requires strength and endurance." Zane spoke up to reply. "And if you have an adrenaline rush, it'll spike up your heart rate and could cause your transformation to happen."

"He's right." Sensei Wu agreed. "We should consider something else."

Cole sighed and thought it over again. "Well I enjoy working out alone." he suggested. "Maybe if I can spend time alone in the training room, I'll be fine then."

Lucas sighed while pinching the bridge of his nose. He didn't like that idea. "We are trying to help calm your body." he said. "Not put it in harm's way."

"I'm not putting it in harm's way." Cole chastised while jumping to his feet. "I'm gonna do something that I find relaxing to me. Just give me like five minutes and I'll be calm again." He looked down at his watch and headed for the door, but felt something hit his chest to stop him.

Cole looked down to see a staff on his chest and followed it to Sensei Wu. "I am sorry, Cole." he said while keeping the end of the wooden weapon in place. "But I'm agreeing with my son, Zane, and Kai. You shouldn't be performing activities that you claim that help you calm your body, but put harm to it. I think you should try something else to control your anger."

Cole felt like he was punched in the face. Felt like a little kid whose favorite toy was taken from him and felt anger crawl up inside. He wasn't allowed to do his methods that he thinks they'll work. The earth ninja furrowed his bushy brows while moving his bangs away from his eyes and felt his heart pounding in his chest rapidly with the watch beeping in alarm. Sensei looked into the teen's eyes and gasped quietly to see tints of green around his amber irises. "I can control my own anger, Sensei!" he spat out and then placed a socked foot onto the elder's chest and pushed.

Sensei Wu felt like he was struck by lightning and was flying back. He flew across the bridge until his back made contact to a weapons cabinet to slump onto the floor with various weapons spilling on top of him. Either wooden or metal, all kinds of weapons spilled onto him. "Dad!" Lucas screamed and ran over to him with the others, horrified.

*Cole kept his brows furrowed while clenching his fists and teeth and slowly loosened them to realize what he done. He watched Lucas remove the weapons off their teacher and slowly cradle him as he was giving raspy breaths. He couldn't believe what he just done. "Se-Sensei..." he cried like he was about to cry and took a step.

The Ninja of Water saw his step and held his father closer to him. Being protective over his only parent left. "Stay away!" he cried with tears cascading down his cheeks. He sniffled and pulled his father closer to cry and heard his father's breath. "You... Monster!"

Monster? That word made Cole stop in his tracks. He watched Lucas and Zane carefully carry Sensei Wu out of the bridge and to the infirmary ward of the ship while the others stayed, horrified. Monster. The earth ninja looked down at his wrist to gasp as it was at one hundred and ninety beats. Ten more, he would've changed. Monster! That word burned in his mind now. He looked down at his reflection on the curved blade of a scythe to see his amber eyes with tints of green on them slowly fade away until they were their original color alone. MONSTER! That word wouldn't leave him alone now. He felt tears trail down his face now as he slowly sank to the floor as he cried to the truth.

The others tried to think of a way to comfort him, but Cole just sank more and more to the floor. He can't believe he done it, but he did. He harmed his teacher, mentor, and friend. All over a dumb thing. He didn't know why he done it, but it happened. His anger made him, not him. But he still harmed his teacher. To that, he cried even more as he witnessed and caused harm and fear to everyone on the Bounty. And he kept crying to the words burying inside his head as it was the truth.

He was a monster.

Do you think he's a monster? I don't think so. Just...couldn't watch his temper. Poor Sensei Wu. Now Cole feels guilty about it. Will this be resolved or not? Find out next week. Have a wonderful weekend and see you all next week.
