Cyber DxD
Issei stood on a balcony overlooking a massive hanger, he'd finally chosen a ship to command and as he stood gazing at the warships skeleton taking shape he heard footsteps on the metal floor behind him.
"They really are something, aren't they?" The voice he'd been used to sounding excitable and cute now sounded grown up and mesmerised by the construction work that was being done in front of them.
"You called it, I'm amazed at just how big these things are." Issei said turning back to the voice.
Issei was currently in the underworld working out final details about his ship with Serafall, he'd chosen a Hyperion class battleship, a massive front line battleship that could take entire enemy fleets apart with its guns and drones. The hanger was going to be its home, with the construction, maintenance and storage being done in the same building in Serafall's capital. Issei then walked back into the apartment that joined onto the hanger and sat down behind a coffee table with a schematic of the ship in its current state being displayed through a demonic projection unit.
"So, have you thought of a name for her?" Serafall said relaxing into the sofa.
Issei racked his brain searching for something to call his ship, after a couple minutes he keyed in a name on a small keyboard attached to the demonic image.
'Empress of annihilation'
"So, you're naming it after Rias then?" Serafall stated looking at the name now displayed under the floating projection.
"It's all I could think of, plus, it does sound pretty awesome." Issei said scratching the back of his head.
Within seconds a new window popped up on the huge screen located in the background of the pair's view of the schematic. On it was a news bulletin announcing the construction of a new warship.
'BB-261 (Empress of annihilation) officially named as construction begins, more information as construction continues.'
The news bulletin flashed on the screen form a source calling itself DNN (Devil News Network). Issei sighed at the blatant rip off from the American news channel called CNN and continued looking through specification sheets for the new warship.
"Ok, now we have a name, now let's see, oh! You now need to decide what type of weapons to order for the launch, even though you can switch weapons at any time in the hanger you need something for it to launch with for its demonstration and combat trials." Serafall chimed in while Issei glanced over the armaments page, which was suspiciously empty.
"Riiiight, and what choices do I have?" Issei asked looking back at Serafall who now had an image of her titan in front of her.
"Well, the Levantius is a long range kind of ship, its guns can reach out well over 200km but they don't do a lot of damage, or you can go close up with concentrated demonic guns that will kill quickly but won't hit beyond about 50km." Serafall said highlighting the guns that were equipped to her ship. Issei knew that her ship didn't have much in terms of drones so if she went close up and the enemy could keep range she wouldn't last long, but with his having drones that eve could use to hit further targets he decided to go with a close range load out.
"Oh, and before you ask, I wasn't allowed to name my ship since, 'Levi-tans magical titan' was 'too childish' to name a flagship." Serafall said while pulling a sad face.
With that Issei and Serafall worked on through the night filling out the details for BB-261.
A/N:
Ok guys, I'm going to try a different style of writing here, instead of the third person I'm going to switch over to 1st, I want you guys to decide if you like the 3rd person narrative or the story told like in the LN in the 1st person from the view of the characters. Also I'm adding a 3rd cyber knight, this one will be Issei's polar opposite. So now we have Issei, Freed and now this mysterious 3rd one. Don't worry you'll know him by the end of this next section.
London, England
?
I'd been called to the capital this morning after returning from my last op in Istanbul, as a cyber knight of the British government it was my job to handle missions too dangerous for normal special operation agents. As I sat outside two large solid oak doors I pulled out my phone and was watching a comedy show from the early 1990's, as I watched the two characters battle over a game of chess I barely realised the two oak doors had opened.
"Commander Maddison, you can come in now." I followed the instructions of the sectary and walked into the office, everything seemed so different from the rest of the building, everything was so high tech but in here it seemed more like a stately home with engraved wood facades decorating the walls.
"Ah Michael, I trust the flight back was pleasant." A man wearing a grey suit with white top and red tie sat behind the office desk, he was my section commander, all cyber knights under the crown reported to him, but for as long as we have known him, we only ever call him or refer to him as 'sir' no one actually knows his real name, well, we cyber knights don't.
"Yes sir, it was nice to get out into the field for a few days, I'm assuming you have another job for me?" I asked but it was more of a statement, usually if I was done with my field time, I'd head back to our training facility in the Lake District.
"Correct, you're well aware that the UN commissioned 8 countries to run the cyber knight project, there's us, the yanks, Italy, Germany, France, Russia, China and Japan." He began.
"Yes sir, with the exception of Japan who had difficulties in starting the program all nations involved have reported resounding successes." I continued, I knew this part well since every year a squad of Cyber knights are chosen to compete in an Olympic style tournament to see who has the better training and selection process.
"Good to see you're still up to speed. Anyway Japan has suffered a serious setback with their project, 3 weeks ago the facility where the project was being held went silent. Navy divers went down to the base to find it in ruins, all personnel dead, the lead scientist and security commander as well as a few guards were gone, as well as one of the Soryu class submarines. More chillingly their only cyber knight is also missing."
"Is it possible that there was an accident and the leaders managed to escape with their cyber knight only to sink nearby?" I asked just to understand what I was being asked to do.
"The sub was found, at the bottom of the sea 500m of the coast of a town called Kuoh, the crew all had bullet wounds and the cyber knight wasn't among them. We believe he's gone rogue. You'll be heading to Tokyo first, dive down to the base and recover what you can, then find and capture the rogue cyber knight at all costs. If he won't come quietly and doesn't have a good reason to resist, you are authorised to use lethal force. He concluded passing me the file.
I briefly glanced over it looking for any clues in the report that might give me a starting point before I was snapped back to the room. By the voice of my superior.
"As you well know cyber knights here are allowed to live their lives freely, that may not be the case in japan, so please try not to interfere too much, however if you discover something illegal, report it as soon as you can." He instructed as he opened the door to show me out.
As the door shut behind me I started making my way down to the garage under the building.
'Aura fire up the jag and book a ticket to Tokyo, we're heading to japan on this one.'
'Ticket booked for BA flight 0007, departing at 11:48 tomorrow morning, anything else Michael?' my Ai Aura spoke from my implant slot, although she was in my head during the briefing she was dedicating her processes to filing a report on the Istanbul mission and squaring away details of the money transfer into my account.
'Book me a hotel near Heathrow, I can't be bothered trailing all the way home just to get 4 hours sleep' I commanded while I was stood in the lift down to the garage.
'Booked, anything else?' she asked.
'Nothing right now, thank you.'
Well these next few weeks are going to be fun, I thought as I finally reached my black Jaguar F-type, years of hard work went into getting this thing and thanks to Aura the car was already running and had been warmed to my preferred temperature, god I hated British weather.
Ok so new character, new point of view. which do you prefer, 3rd person or 1st person let me know in the reviews. This is just a short chapter since I wanted a little break in between the engagement arc and the fallen angel arc. As always I'll see you in the next chapter.
