Sara sat in her living room, silent. The only noise was the ringing of the phone. She couldn't answer it.
She knew it was Gil.
She couldn't talk to him. Not yet.

Sara and the Boss kissed, the cold of the wall against her back. The simple feeling of their lips meeting sent waves of electricity through her body. And she had a feeling that Boss felt similar as his arms wrapped around her, their kiss deepening.
They kissed for what felt like an hour before she broke the kiss. She tried to ignore how much she wanted to continue.
"We…we can't." Sara finally said, breathless. "I..I mean."
"No, no your right." He said after a moment, letting her go. "It's not a good idea. I'm the leader, your married. We shouldn't."
"Yeah. Just…I should go." She said.
"Wait." He told her. She opened her mouth to protest when he took his keys from his pocket and tossed them to her. "You don't have a ride. Take mine. I'll get a ride. Don't worry about returning it right away; you can wait until we next see each other."
"Oh, ok...um good night."
The two bid farewell and Sara got into the car and drove away.

The Boss sat in the office of Eclipse, thinking about Sara. He scratches his neck for a moment before dialing a number.
"Yo Boss, what's up?" Shaundi spoke from the line.
"Hey Shaundi, I need some advice." He admitted.
"Wow, been a while since you came to me. This about that new girl?" She asked.
"Yeah you could say that." He told her.
"Ok well listen, if you think something's up with her, you can't take a chance. You can't risk the-"
"Shaundi, that's not what I'm calling about." Boss replied.
"Oh…..well, what is it?" She asked.
"Well, we came to the Eclipse cause I needed to handle something real quick, and we were talking about how long she'd be in the gang, stuff like that. We pulled guns, nothing serious….but…..we kissed." He said.
"Really?" Shaundi said, surprised.
"Yeah. It was a bad idea. She's married to her old boss, I'm married to killing people." Boss laid out.
"Yeah that does seem like a plot thread to a soap opera or something. Look, I don't know what I can really say. I haven't even met her. But I will say this. I've known you for a while, and I've never heard you like this." Shaundi told him.
"I know. I mean, I've only known her for a few days for fucks sake. I don't know, maybe it was a weird thing. Weird things happen." Boss suggested.
"I can't say for sure. I'll be in town either tomorrow night or the day after and meet her then. But listen Boss, it sounds like it could either be just a moment of attraction, or something more. But you need to figure it out." Shaundi said.
"That sounds a lot harder then shooting some poor bugger." Boss said before hanging up.
He really needed a drink.

It had been an uneventful few days for Sara. She hadn't talked to The Boss since the kiss. It seemed he needed space to think just like she did.
As it was the few days had given her time to refocus on her work in the crime labs. She had been spread so thin since joining the Saint's it was nice to have a few days of normalcy.
And yet…it didn't feel normal.
She still loved what she did, putting bad guys away, getting justice for innocent victims, spending time with her friends….
And yet
The Saint's were also her friends. Pierce, Zimos, Kinzi,….Boss.
She had a near instant feeling of comradely with them. And while the jobs were dangerous, she had to admit it got her heart racing. Even if she had only been on one.
Speaking of, it seemed that she had been lucky. Nothing connecting her or the Saints to the job had been found. While they naturally did suspect the Saints given their pressure on D Street, they didn't have anything concrete to connect.
Given how flashy the Saint's usually are, the subtly of this job helped cast the idea the motel attack had been done by someone else.
Still, having a few days to herself to work was a good thing. She hadn't realized how thin she had been stretched between her duties in the Crime lab and the Saints.
Catherine walked in as Sara worked on a B&E case.
"Hey, how's it going?" Catherine asked. "Making any progress?"
"Yeah. We were looking at a neighbor since he was a record but right now my thought is no." Sara said, grabbing a file.
"We don't go on thoughts, we go on evidence." Catherine reminded her. Sara didn't know why, but she felt annoyed.
"Well, as far as evidence goes, the crime the neighbor did was a smash and grab. Came in through the back door ransacked the house, stole a stereo. But the B&E we're looking at was a lot more delicate. Not to mention it seemed like whoever did it knew where to go. Picked the lock on the side door, went right to the bedroom. No other rooms. So we're either looking for someone who knew right where to go or someone making it look like they were burglarized."
"Well, the guy is going through a divorce so maybe that's an angle worth looking into." Catherine said, looking over the evidence Sara had analyzed. "Hey, if you're staying then would you mind looking into another case?"
"Sure, which case?" Sara asked.
"Hit and run. We have some evidence that needs to be processed." Catherine explained.
"Yeah, I'll work the evidence. Send it over and I'll start after I finish this. Shouldn't be that long." Sara said.
Catherine nodded and left.
As Sara worked a little longer, her phone rang. She glanced at it and answered.
"Hey Pierce. What's up?" She answered.
"Nothings up, but I've noticed we haven't seen you around too much. Everything ok?" he asked.
"Yeah I'm fine, just working. Last few days have put me a bit behind." She replied, trying not to go into specifics.
"Oh, you at work. Got it, won't say too much. Just wanted to say we miss you." Pierce told her.
"Me to….um, who's we?" She asked almost despite herself.
"You know, the ga-I mean the group. Me, Zimos, Kinzi-" Pierce started.
"How about Boss?" She asked, unable to stop herself.
"Is there something going on with you two? When I asked him about you he got really quiet. Not like him." Pierce asked her.
"It's kinda hard to explain. Just a little awkward." She said. Pierce was quiet for a moment.
"Well, you don't wanna tell, then that's your business. Listen, don't be a stranger." He told her.
They exchanged goodbyes and hung up. Sara resumed work.

After a few hours Sara clocked out. As she got her stuff to head out she bumped into Nick, who was also leaving.
"Hey, done for the night?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, I'm heading home." She replied.
"Cool, me to. I'll see you later." He said.
Sara walked to her usual parking space, unlocked the car and got in. She had been driving the Boss's car since that night. He had said she could, and to be honest it made her feel more comfortable. She put her purse on the floor and started up the car. She was about to pull out when a knock at the window made her jump.
"Holy hell, that's a dodge viper. Looks like it's had some custom work done. Where in the heck did you get this?" Nick said looking over the car.
The Boss's car was a custom dodge viper. Black with purple accents. The car had a nitro boost, (she had been told) a set of deployable knee cappers to take out other tires. (Again, told) and even bulletproof glass and reinforced chassis. (Which she hoped to never have to test)
"You know that friend I had who got into the accident? He's letting me drive his car for a while as thanks." She told him.
"What the hell does he do?" Nick asked her.
"He's in real estate." Sara replied. It wasn't a complete lie. The Boss did buy a lot of property as part of his plan to expand the Saints.
"Nice." Nick nodded, looking the car over again. He clearly wanted to drool over it a bit more but managed to tear himself away and to his own car. Sara drove out of the parking lot.

Sara decided to drive past the Eclipse. It was the first time she had gone by the club since the kiss. Glancing at the parking lot as she drove past, she saw a space and decided to pull in. As she got out she saw Pierce's white and purple car, so at least he was there.
Walking in, she went to the VIP lounge. Pierce looked up and broke into a big smile when he saw her.
"Hey hey girl." He said, walking up and giving her a hug, which she returned. "Glad to see you freed from the dark dirty crime solving labs."
"You know almost by definition crime lab's have to be clean and well lit right?" She asked with a grin.
"Yeah but we aren't fan's of the police. Present company excluded of course. Have to think of them as the evil oppressive enemy." He told her, making her laugh.
They had a drink and chatted a bit.
"Shaundi, another of the Saint Lieutenants is coming down from Steelport. She'll be here in a few days, so you'll get to meet her." Pierce said.
As they talked a bit more, Sara noticed the Boss walking next to the bar.
"Sorry to bail Pierce but I had a long shift today at the labs; I'm heading home to rest." She said.
"Yeah, course. Call me in the morning or something, we'll do breakfast." He told her as she waved and walked out. As Pierce looked out over the club, he noticed Boss had arrived. And it seemed he had noticed Sara leaving as he ducked behind the bar to use the door there to get outside.
Sara got into Boss's car and drove off. As she sat at a red light shortly after, out of the corner of her eye she saw a vehicle approaching in the rearview mirror.
Looking up, her eyes widened when she saw that the Boss was on his motorcycle, coming up behind her and pulling up next to her and taking off his helmet. She rolled down her window.
"Hey Sara." He said. "I..um….been a few days."
"Yeah. Oh, um you can pick up your car when-"
"Don't worry about it. Keep it. You look good in it. I mean you always do but…" he said as he cut her off.
She opened her mouth to reply when a gunshot range out, grazing Boss's shoulder. Spinning around, they saw an orange sedan speeding towards them.
"Get out of here I'll handle them!" boss yelled, driving off to lead them away from her.
A gang banger in the back leaned out and started shooting at him with an assault rifle.
The boss tried to avoid the shots, but lost his balance. Luckily he managed to shift himself so that as the motorcycle went down he was on top of it, like a Hollywood stunt.
Realizing the Vegas Strip Soldiers in the car after him weren't about to stop, she drove the car in front of Boss. The car really was reinforced as the bullets bounced off.
"GET IN!" she yelled. The boss didn't need to be told twice, jumping in the passenger seat. Sara drove off, the VSS chasing after them.
Sara drove around, trying to lose them, when she glanced at her dashboard and remembered something. Slowing down to let them come up next to them, she slammed her car into theirs, and then pushed the button to deploy the knee cappers and accelerating, tearing the tires to shreds. While the VSS tried to keep control of the car, but ended up crashing into a building.
Sara opened up a switch on the gear shift and pushed it, giving them a nitro boost to get away before they recovered.
"Sara, you ok?" Boss asked.
"Me, you're the one who got shot at." Sara replied.
"Yeah but I'm used to it. It's you I'm..ow." He grunted and leaned forward. Sara's eyes widened, seeing blood starting to spread on his jacket and shirt.
"You're shot!" she yelled.
"No, I tore the bullet wound from the other day open when I wiped out." He told her.
"My house isn't too far from here. We can patch you up there." She told him.

Sara managed to get home without incident, parking the car in the garage and helped Boss into her house.
Getting his jacket and shirt off, she confirmed he had no new injuries, and was able to clean and wrap the reopened wound.
"Thanks." He told her.
"Don't mention it." Sara replied. "You should be ok in a few days, just relax and let the wound heal properly. Don't push yourself."
"You took a big chance saving me. If they got a look at you, then you could be in danger." He said.
"I couldn't just not do anything. You were in trouble." She reminded him.
"I'm used to it. But if you got hurt because of me I don't know what I'd….."
He reached up and put his hand on her cheek.
"I know we shouldn't have kissed the other day…..but I enjoyed it. And I want to kiss you again. If you say no, I won't." Boss told her.
Sara was conflicted; dozens of responses went through her head.
Ultimately, she sat in his lap and leaned forward, putting her lips to his.
Unlike the last kiss they shared, this one didn't break.
The end.
