Sandy's dining room was huge. The room's expanse was filled with a long golden table and high backed, shimmering gold chairs. The table itself held a magnificent feast; gold platters piled high with bacon and pancakes, bowls full of scrambled eggs and yogurt, and any other breakfast food I knew, including some that I didn't. Sandy himself didn't look very surprised to see Pitch; in fact he just shrugged his shoulders and continued to the table.
We made small talk during the meal, but for the most part everyone was more focused on eating than anything else, so the room would fall into uneasy silences. After the meal we headed into the meeting room. I was so overwhelmed by its beauty as I stepped through the large doors that I was at a loss for words. The room was filled from wall to wall and from ceiling to floor with books, each with a glossy cover and a swirling title on their spines, and many that were in foreign languages. Sandy gestured to three large armchairs in the center of the room and we took our seats; I sat curled up on Pitch's lap.
Sandy tapped a pencil on the mahogany desk that sat in the middle of the room. A flurry of symbols appeared above his head, and Pitch, Jack and I looked at each other in confusion. When we looked back at Sandy, a question mark was above his head, asking if we had any questions. Jack was the first to speak up.
"Um… Sandy, could you maybe write down your plan or something? It may just be me but I'm finding it a little hard to follow."
Sandy nodded and smiled, picking up a golden fountain pen and scribbling something down on a piece of paper before handing it to Jack, who began to read it in his head. I cleared my throat loudly and he turned.
"Would you like to share that with us, Jack?
Jack nodded, looking a little embarrassed. "Basically, Sandy thinks that if we get everyone back together, and North and everyone else sees that we're willing to accept Pitch, that maybe they'll give it more thought."
I cast a sideways glace at Pitch, and even though he was obviously terrified of the thought of having to face the other Guardians again, his face was hard set in defiance; he was going to go through with this if it killed him. I looked back at Sandy and nodded. "Did you have anything specific in mind?"
Sandy nodded and snatched the paper back from Jack, quickly writing something else on the back of it. He handed it to Jack again and Jack read aloud: "As long as the Moon shines on us, we can't fight. There's a place in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean where the moon is always shining, so we meet there so we can talk it out like normal people."
"Are you sure, Sandy?" I asked.
Sandy nodded enthusiastically, his eyes lighting up and a golden image flashing above his head. He was signing for us to head to North's.
"Okay then, I guess it's worth a try."
Sandy clapped and motioned for us to follow him, only to frown when Pitch got up too. He shook his head and threw Pitch an apologetic look.
"No, don't worry, it's fine." Pitch smiled.
I turned around to face him. "I'll be back soon, it's not that far." I smiled reassuringly and he leaned in to kiss me. It was a soft kiss, a gentle brush of his lips against mine, and it left me wanting more, but when I went to kiss him again, he pulled away and smiled.
"You'll get the rest of that when you get back." He winked and left the room.
I rolled my eyes and turned back to the others. "Alright," I said, "let's go."
Okay really short update I'm so sorry but I've been super duper busy lately and I'll try to get back into the swing of updating more often. Thanks guys! ~Kendall
