Legend of Korra and the Dragon Warrior: Air

I do not own the characters of Avatar: The Legend of Korra or The Legend of Spyro game. I only own the characters that I've created in my head.

Destiny and the outcast dragon

Miyuki stood where she was as she looked up at the Chronicler, who was now lying down on the floor in front of her.

"Are you going to tell me what or who the Dragon Warrior is?" asked Miyuki curiously.

"Yes little one, I will," replied the Chronicler with a nod of his head. "But you must understand that the path that you will be walking on will not be an easy one to face."

"I know that nothing is going to be easy, just like it won't be easy for my sister in her Avatar training." Miyuki said in a solemn voice.

Miyuki looked down at the ground sadly as she thought about her sister and wondered how Korra was doing back home.

"Yes, your sister has a difficult path ahead of her as well," spoke the Chronicler. "And the first obstacle that she will find herself facing in her future is her Air Bending training, which she will take after you and she both turn seventeen."

Miyuki was startled by what the Chronicler had said: "What?"

"Remember what I told you Miyuki? I am able to have glimpses of the future, whether it is your future, your sister's future or anyone else's future."

"Oh, right," chuckled Miyuki as she lightly bopped herself on the head with her right fist. "But I don't see how my sister would have trouble in trying to learn Air Bending. I mean, the other three elements that she was able to master came so easily to her."

"That is because your sister hasn't quite connected with her spiritual self yet," explained the Chronicler. "Korra was only able to master the physical side of her bending, but has not yet grasped the spiritual side. As you and many others know in your world, the Avatar must master both sides of bending."

"That's true," muttered Miyuki as she crossed her arms over her chest. "My sister has always been a little…stubborn and is always grounded with what she is doing."

"Yes she is," said the Chronicler with a nod. "Now, I think that it is time we moved away from the subject of your sister so that you may learn about your destiny, young Miyuki."

"Oh yeah, sorry," said Miyuki as she rubbed the back of her neck as a blush appeared on her face. "I'm just a little home sick that's all and I always keep wondering how my family is doing. But enough about that *Ahem* so you were going to tell me about the Dragon Warrior?"

"That is correct young one," replied the Chronicler with a nod of his head. "Hunter has already told you half the story about what a Dragon Warrior is, am I right?"

"Yeah, he did," answered Miyuki with a nod of her head. "He told me that a strange being had appeared within your world a long time ago to help fight against Malefor. An evil dragon who wanted to destroy your world."

"Yes, young one, that is true" spoke the Chronicler with a nod of his head. "Though, none of us dragons' weren't really sure who or what the strange being was at the time. But after looking up the legend myself, I found out that the Dragon Warrior who had appeared in our world centuries ago had actually been a human."

"A human?" echoed Miyuki with her eyes widening in surprise.

"Yes," answered the Chronicler. "This human was a young man, who was three years younger than you. During that time, the dragons had welcomed him with beating hearts and let him stay with them for as long as he wanted to. They taught him the ancient ways of our ancestors and through their actions the human learned to harness the power of the dragons', thus becoming one with them. Over time the human was able to control the elements. But he could only possess five of the elements from the dragons that he has connected with throughout his life. Four of the dragons were the ones that he befriended, while the dragon that he had a closer connection with was his main partner for his ultimate element."

"What were the five elements that he possessed?" asked Miyuki curiously.

"The five elements that he possessed were those of his choosing," continued the Chronicler. "The four elements that he had possessed were electricity; ice; shadow and fear while the main element that he had possessed from his dragon partner was poison."

"Whoa," voiced Miyuki in amazement before another question came into her mind. "But there's one thing that I don't get it. If I'm supposed to be the Dragon Warrior, then why did three out of four of my elements come out as fire, earth and water?"

"There's a theory for that, young warrior. If the Dragon Warrior is reincarnated, then his power will change to five different elements. I believe it is a way to keep balance with the natural order instead of remaining with the elements that he had learned within his past life," answered the Chronicler.

"That sound a little bit like how the Avatar is reborn," said Miyuki thoughtfully. "I mean, the Avatar doesn't reincarnate in the same element. He or she are always reborn in a different element that represents the cycle of the seasons."

"That is correct," said the Chronicler with a chuckle. "You could say that the Dragon Warrior is always given a new start in life, but unlike the way the Avatar, who connects with their past lives to guide them. The Dragon Warrior has to rely on the wisdom of the dragons, and any other being that is destined to walk down the same path as him or her. But the Dragon Warrior will have visions of their past life once in a while, and it is through those visions that the Dragon Warrior will be able to make the right choices on their path to being the protector of dragons."

"Whoa, now that's something that's completely different from the Avatar stories that I've always heard Master Katara tell me when I was little." Miyuki said as she scratched the back of her head in thought.

"Master Katara is a wise woman and I can tell you respect her very much." The Chronicler said as a smile spread out across his muzzle.

"She's like a grandmother to me," said Miyuki with a shrug of her shoulders. "And she was the wife of Avatar Aang."

The Chronicler chuckled before he stood up from the floor: "Well young one, we are coming to the end of our conversation. It is time for you to wake up and take up your position in the night watch."

"But I still have so many questions to ask you," said Miyuki in a flustered voice.

"Do not worry young one, we will meet again soon," reassured the Chronicler with a smile. "In the mean time I have a gift for you."

"A gift?" echoed Miyuki in surprise.

The Chronicler nodded his head before turning his gaze towards one of the shelves within his library. Miyuki also turned to see where he was looking at and saw a shelf that was filled with scrolls. The scrolls were all of different sizes from the biggest sitting on the bottom, to the smallest sitting on top of the larger scrolls. Miyuki was suddenly brought out of her amazement when a small scroll, which had been sitting on top of the pile, floated up from the shelf. It slowly floated down before it came to hover in front of Miyuki at chest level. Miyuki blinked before taking the scroll into her hands. She slowly unrolled the scroll and what she saw on its page made her gasp in surprise.

"This is a scroll for Water Bending," said Miyuki as she looked up at the Chronicler.

"Yes," replied the dragon with a nod. "And since you are from the water tribe, it is only natural for you to learn your main element first before starting with the other three."

Miyuki rolled the scroll back up and gave the Chronicler a deep bow of respect before straightening herself back up again: "Thank you very much. I promise to make good use of your gift."

"Just remember young warrior that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope." The Chronicler said gently before he lowered his head and gently pressed the tip of his nose against Miyuki's forehead.

Miyuki stood completely still as she felt something flow through her veins for a second when the Chronicler touched her, before the feeling quickly vanished as the dragon pulled his head back. Miyuki blinked for a second before her eyes widened in surprise as she looked up at the Chronicler, who stood in front of her with a knowing smile upon his face. Miyuki stared up at the dragon for a moment before she smiled and bowed towards him once again.

"It is an honor to meet you sir," said Miyuki before she straightened up once more.

The Chronicler nodded his head: "Tell Spyro and many of the friends I've made in my past life that I said hello."

Miyuki nodded her head in understanding before she was blinded by a white light that surrounded the Chronicler.

Real world

Miyuki let out a groan when she felt someone shaking her shoulder. She opened up her eyes to see Hunter kneeling in front of her with his paw/hand gently shaking her awake.

"Come on now Miyuki," spoke Hunter in a soft voice. "It's your turn to take up the watch for the night."

"Okay," yawned Miyuki as she sat up in her sleeping bag and began to rub the sleep out of her eyes.

"Remember to wake up Hail in about three hours to switch out with you." Hunter whispered as he reminded the teenager about the nightshift.

"Right," voiced Miyuki with a nod of her head.

Hunter smiled at Miyuki while giving her a light pat on the shoulder before he stood up and walked over to his own sleeping spot. Miyuki let out another yawn before stretching her arms up over her head.

'What a dream,' thought Miyuki as she lowered her arms back down and rested them in her lap. 'I wonder if it was really real'.

The fifteen year old made a move to get out of her bedroll when she felt something bump up against her left hip. Miyuki quickly looked down and her eyes widened in surprise when she found the same scroll that the Chronicler had given to her in the dream realm.

'It was real,' thought Miyuki with a smile before she grabbed the scroll and crawled out of her sleeping bag.

Miyuki quickly slipped on her boots before walking over to the still roaring fire that had lowered slightly throughout the night. Miyuki threw a few sticks onto the fire before she sat down. She unrolled the scroll and began to study the movements of how to bend the water that was drawn upon the surface of the paper. Miyuki read through the names of the Waterbending techniques before letting out a sigh.

'These techniques are so advanced, I'm not sure if I can do them.' Miyuki thought with a nervous frown before she shook her head to get rid of the doubts that tried to cloud her mind. 'No, don't even think like that Miyuki. You can do this. You are part of the Southern Water Tribe and the daughter of a great Waterbending chief.'

With that thought firmly set in her mind, Miyuki looked over the movements again before deciding to try one technique that was suited for beginners.

"Streaming the water," whispered Miyuki as she read the title of the technique in a low voice.

'Okay, I just need some water from my waterskin,' she thought.

Miyuki gently placed the scroll down on the ground, far away from the flames of the fire, before she got up and walked towards her shoulder bag. She knelt down by her bag and began to shuffle through it before pulling out her waterskin and a small wooden bowl. Miyuki quietly walked back over to the fire pit before she placed the wooden bowl down on a flat stone. She made sure that the bowl wouldn't wobble too much before pouring in the water from her waterskin until the liquid barely came up to the rim of the bowl. Miyuki plugged the cork back onto her waterskin before placing it aside. Miyuki knelt in front of the wooden bowl as the water inside of it reflected the light of the fire off its surface. The young none-bender teen let out a quiet sigh before she slowly brought her right hand out and held it over the water filled bowl.

'Okay, for this to work I need to have a calm mind and not let my emotions cloud my concentration,' thought Miyuki as she gazed at the water intently.

Miyuki let her hand hover over the bowl as she patiently waited for something to happen. The teenager didn't know how long she had been kneeling, but she continued to kneel in front of the wooden bowl before her hand suddenly twitched. When that happened, Miyuki saw the water ripple for a second. Miyuki blinked as she stared at the water in surprise before she began to bob her hand, which still hovered over the bowl, up and down. The water within the bowl began to ripple some more under Miyuki's hand movement. Then, slowly, the surface of the water pulled upwards out of the bowl and began to float up towards Miyuki's hand. A large smile appeared on Miyuki's face as she slowly pulled her hand upwards with the water following behind it. It continued upwards until the bowl was completely emptied of its contents. Miyuki slowly stood up as she pulled the now floating strand of water up into the air with her right hand before flipping her hand over. The water followed the movement as it changed its form into a water ball that floated above the palm of Miyuki's hand.

'I did it!' exclaimed Miyuki within her head excitedly as she felt her heart racing for a moment. 'Okay, now I just have to keep calm and continue on with the technique that I'm going to practice tonight.'

Miyuki took in a calming deep breath in before letting it out as she started to go through a slow, but steady movement as she began to move the water around her. Her movements weren't as graceful as the talented Waterbenders of her tribe, but Miyuki was doing very good on her first try at Waterbending. Miyuki continued to move the water around with both of her hands before deciding to stop for tonight as she slowly eased the water back into the wooden bowl again. Once the bowl was filled, Miyuki took in a calming breath, then let it out as her hands slowly drop down towards the height of her hips. Miyuki was taken by surprise when she heard the soft sound of clapping behind her. She quickly turned around to see Hunter standing before her with a proud smile on his face.

"Hunter," said Miyuki as she stared at the cheetah in shock. "I thought you were asleep."

"I was for a time young one," spoke Hunter. "I just woke up a few moments ago and saw you moving the water around you. I must say, I'm impressed by your performance."

"T-thank you sir," stuttered Miyuki as she rubbed the back of her neck nervously. "But I'm not nearly half as good as the benders back home in my village."

Hunter chuckled as he walked up to Miyuki and placed a paw/hand on her left shoulder: "Never the less, you have done well on you first try at bending your main element, and that is something you should be proud of young warrior."

Miyuki smiled up at Hunter as the cheetah warrior praised her for her secret night Waterbending training. Miyuki remembered how her mother praised her for how talented she was for making betrothal pendants. Hearing someone praise her for doing something good always made Miyuki feel like she accomplished something in her life.

"Get some sleep now Miyuki," said Hunter as he lightly patted the fifteen year old girl's shoulder. "I'll wake up Hail so that he can take up the rest of the night shift."

"Okay," said Miyuki with a nod before she walked over to the scroll that she had left near the fire.

Miyuki picked up the scroll and rolled it back up again before picking up her water skin. Hunter picked up the wooden bowl and walked over to where Hail was sleeping. Miyuki watched on curiously as the older cheetah stood over Hail with the wooden bowl in his hand. She then burst out laughing when Hunter dumped the water onto the younger cheetah's head. Hail let out a yelp when he felt the cold liquid hit his head before he shot up and shook his head furiously. He then glared up at Hunter, who stood over him with an amused smile upon his face.

"What was that for!?" shouted Hail angrily.

"It's your turn to take up the rest of the night watch," replied Hunter calmly.

Hail blinked in realization: "Oh yeah".

Miyuki giggled for a moment before quickly stopping when Hail glared at her. The teenager turned her head away while whistling innocently to herself before Hail got up. He began to grumbled something about girls and how stupid they were.

Hunter walked back over to Miyuki and handed her back the wooden bowl: "It's the only way anyone within my village can wake Hail up. He's known to be a heavy sleeper."

Miyuki giggled before she took her wooden bowl back from Hunter and walked over to her sleeping bag. She placed her waterskin, wooden bowl and her new water-bending scroll into her shoulder bag before kneeling beside her sleeping bag. Miyuki sat down on the matt and slipped off her boots before sliding under the covers of her sleeping bag. Miyuki rested her head down on her shoulder bag once again before closing her eyes as she fell asleep with a proud smile on her face.

Morning soon came and the group had a quick breakfast before they all set off on their journey again. Miyuki was humming happily to herself as she and her two companions walked down the path that will lead them to Dragon City. She was walking a little ahead of Hunter and Hail as the two cheetahs watched their human companion strolling two feet in front of them.

"She sure is chipper today," voiced Hail.

"Miyuki must have had a good dream last night," said Hunter as he hid the fact that Miyuki had learned to Waterbend last night.

"Well I hope she stops humming soon, because that song…whatever she's humming…is starting to get annoying," growled Hail.

Hunter only rolled his eyes at Hail in amusement. The only reason the young cheetah was in such a grumpy mood was that he didn't get enough sleep last night during the end of the night shift.

Miyuki walked down the trail with a little skip in her step as she felt proud for what she had accomplished last night. Something that she had never thought possible within her entire life. She had done Waterbending and that was something that no none-bender could have ever done. Miyuki knew that there wasn't anything within the history records back in her home world that didn't said anything about a none-bender gaining the ability to bend at the age of fifteen or older.

'I must be the first none-bender within all of history to bend their main element,' thought Miyuki as she looked up at the sky above her. 'Oh, this is so amazing. Now I'll be able to fit right in with the other people of my tribe.'

Miyuki continued walking for a while before she began to have an unsettling feeling within her body. Her humming soon stopped as she slowed her pace down before coming to a complete stop within the middle of the road. Hunter and Hail walked up to Miyuki and stop on either side of the teenager. The two cheetahs had a look of confusion on their faces' as they stared at their female companion curiously.

"Miyuki, what's wrong?" asked Hunter as he stared at the young human in concern.

"Um…do any of you guys get the feeling that we're being watched?" asked Miyuki as she looked at her companions in worry.

"Now that you mentioned it, yeah" replied Hail as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I can really feel my fur standing-on-end on both my neck and tail."

"I feel it too," said Hunter as he looked around the area that they were in. "Something's not right here."

They were in the thickest part of the forest where the trees were all packed tightly together, and the light from the sun barely shone through the leaves of the canopy. Miyuki felt herself growing nervous as she glanced at her surroundings.

"I don't like it here, it's too quiet" said Miyuki as she stood close to Hunter for protection.

"You're right," whispered Hunter as he got his bow ready.

"Listen," voiced Hail as he looked around. "I don't hear any of the forest creatures moving about. Not even a tweet from the birds."

Miyuki looked around at the trees and bushes that encircled them as she felt her heart pounding hard within her chest. There was hardly any sound within the forest, except for the wind blowing through the leaves of the trees.

"We best keep moving," spoke Hunter quietly. "Keep your guard up and stay close together."

Hail and Miyuki nodded their heads before following their leader, who took point in front of them. Hail slowly drew out his sword as he got himself ready for anything that might attack them within the forest, while Miyuki stayed close to her feline companions. The group walked in silences as they cautiously moved through the forest before they came to a small stream that had fresh clean water running along its channel. Hunter quickly brought his two companions to a halt by raising a hand up in a sign for them the stop.

"Quiet," whispered Hunter. "Something's wrong."

Miyuki and Hail were quiet for a moment before they heard the snapping of a branch on their far left within the bushes. Hunter grabbed one of his arrows from his quiver before nocking it onto the string of his bow. The cheetah quickly drew the arrow back on his bow as he turned towards where the noise had come from before he released it. The arrow flew as it cut through the branches of the bushes. The arrow must have struck its target for as it disappeared into the bush a loud screech suddenly erupted from the behind the shrubbery. Miyuki stepped back in shocked surprise as a strange creature came falling out of the bush.

Miyuki got a clear view of the creature. She saw that it that had a long ugly face that looked as if it had blue paint on its cheeks. The creature was covered from head to toe in brown fur, while the skin on its hairless hands and feet were black. Around the creature's waist was a brown loin cloth that was held up by a leather belt, and in the creature's right hand was a wooden club with metal spikes mounted on it.

"An ape!" exclaimed Hail.

"It's an ambush!" shouted Hunter before a whole army of apes began to appear.

Many of the apes came jumping out of trees and bushes as they surround the group on all sides. Miyuki's eyes widened in fear when she saw a hundred apes surrounding them, while she stood close to Hunter and Hail for protection.

"This is not good," voiced Miyuki before she and her two companions heard a loud screech from up above them.

The trio quickly looked up and saw a much larger ape, with a necklace made of teeth, falling down towards them. Miyuki, Hunter and Hail quickly jumped out of the away as the larger ape landed in the spot where they had once stood. That action made the trio separate from each other. Like the smaller apes, the larger one was wearing the same loin cloth and was holding the same club as the first ape. The larger ape smirked before he bellowed out in a deep commanding voice.

"Kill the two cheetahs, but make sure to keep the female creature alive for the master!" the larger ape roar.

With that said, the smaller apes began to attack the trio. Hunter dodged around the apes while firing off arrows left to right as he tried to kill off as many apes as possible. Hail slashed and stabbed at any of the apes that dared to come within two feet of him. Miyuki had jumped too far away from her two traveling companions, and was now backing away from two apes that growled and snarled at her. Miyuki began to feel fear rise up within her chest for she didn't know what to do in this situation.

'What do I do?!' thought Miyuki as she began to panic. 'Hunter and Hail are too far away to help me, and I don't know a thing about fighting opponents yet!'

Miyuki took another step back from the two apes. Suddenly, she heard a small splash underneath her and quickly looked down to see that the heel of her right boot had stepped into the water of the stream. An idea came into her head before looking at the apes again as a determined look appeared on the teenager's face.

'I'm still not good at Waterbending yet, but I have to try.' Miyuki thought before taking in a deep breath as she tried to calm herself.

"What are you two waiting for?!" shouted the leader impatiently. "Grab the girl and let's get out of here!"

"Miyuki, run!" shouted Hunter as he kicked away an ape, before firing off another arrow at an ape that was trying to sneak up on Hail.

"What is that stupid girl doing!?" shouted Hail as he turned to see that Miyuki was just standing there, while the two apes closed in around her on all sides.

Suddenly, one of the apes shot forward towards Miyuki with a scream. Everything seemed to slow down around Miyuki as she watched the ape flying towards her. She quickly took one step forward with her left foot before she drew both of her arms back and then threw them forward. In that action, a long stream of water shot out of the stream that Miyuki was standing in. The water slammed into the ape as it sent the creature flying back towards its comrades, where the ape collided with another ape that was attacking Hail from behind. The second ape that had been ordered to capture Miyuki stood in shock for a moment before it was suddenly hit by another jet of water that Miyuki had summoned up from the stream.

Miyuki smiled with pride at what she had accomplished on her first try at fighting with Waterbending. But it quickly faded when the leader of the apes suddenly appeared in front of her with an enraged look on his face. Miyuki summoned up another column of water from the stream and threw it at the leader, but the large ape simple dodged before raising his club up over his head.

"Those little water tricks of yours won't work on me pip-squeak!" roar the ape as he brought his club down to smash Miyuki.

Miyuki quickly dodged to the side as the club came down where she had been standing a few seconds ago. Water splashed around Miyuki when she landed face first in the stream. She turned onto her back to see the alpha leader raising his club up above his head again as he got ready to slam it down on Miyuki. Miyuki became paralyzed with fear as she stared up at the ape that towered over her. Many thoughts started to race through her head, but one of the thoughts that came into her head was regret. It was the regret of never seeing her family again.

'Mom, Dad, Korra…I'm sorry,' thought Miyuki sadly.

The world around her began to slow down and all the sounds started to fade away into the back ground. Miyuki continued to watch as the larger ape started to swing his club down on her as the young teenager quickly closed her eyes and waited to feel the blow of the club. But what happened next made everyone freeze in their tracks. A loud roar suddenly echoed throughout the forest before a large form burst out from out of the trees, and tackled the ape that was attacking Miyuki to the ground.

Miyuki's eyes snapped open in surprise and she watched in astonishment as the ape leader was pinned to the ground by a creature that was larger than itself. The creature was the size of a Shirshu that Miyuki had once seen in her village when the people from the Earth Kingdom came to meet her sister and teach Korra Earth Bending.

The creature that was fighting against the alpha ape had bronze colored fur, grey/blue eyes and a canine face along with two pointed ears that were tipped black. Copper snake like scales sat across both cheeks of the creature's face. A line of upside-down triangle copper scales sat on the bridge of the creature's snout. They started going up from its' light pink nose, before stopping near its forehead. The creature had two canines poking out from the back corners of its mouth as they grew down about 2 inches from the upper jaw. Sitting on top of the creature's head, just in front of its ears, were two light grey horns with copper tipping at the points. A pale yellow mane grew from on top of the creature's head before it ran down the back of its long neck, which ended between its shoulders.

Sitting on the creature's shoulders were two large bat shape wings with the edges being a light grey, while the inside membranes were a copper color. The thumbs on the wings had a sharp white claw at the end of them. A white upside-down 'V' shape mark sat on the right shoulder of the creature with one end being longer than the other. The same row of upside-down triangle scales ran down from the creature's chest, and stretched all the way down underneath its stomach before ending near the tip of its long lizard tail. The creature's front and back paws were covered in black fur with four sharp ivory claws on each end of its feet, which dug and tore through the ground as it fought against the ape leader. Running down from the base of the creature's tail were spines, which had grey back edgings and copper membranes. They ended almost at the tip of the tail and on the tail's tip was the same pale yellow fur which grew there. The last feature that Miyuki noticed were two short grey spikes that were blunt at the ends, which sat on the elbows behind the creature's front legs.

Miyuki watched as the creature bit and slashed at the ape leader, while they both rolled around on the ground with one of them tried to pin the other underneath them. The fight between the two creatures was fierce and brutal. Miyuki continued to watch before turning her head around when she heard three apes charging towards her. Acting fast, Miyuki quickly summoned up a large water spout from the stream before throwing her hands forward as she sent the water flying towards the apes. The water slammed into Miyuki's three attackers, which sent the apes crashing into the trunk of a large tree.

Miyuki quickly stood up within the water and began to summon more water spouts as she shot them towards an ape that tried to catch her off guard. Hail managed to take down all of the apes that had surrounded him for a while before running over to Miyuki. He came to stand back-to-back with Miyuki as the two fought together against the apes that surrounded them.

"You're going to be the death of us," muttered Hail before he slashed his sword down on an ape that came too close to him and Miyuki.

"Never mind that!" exclaimed Miyuki as she threw another water spout at two apes that leapt at her from her left. "Did you just catch gimps of that creature that's now fighting the larger ape?"

"I sure did," answered Hail before he kicked away the ape that almost jumped on him. "And I was hoping that we didn't have to face that half-breed dragon in this part of the forest."

"Half-breed?" echoed Miyuki in confusion as she glanced at Hail in confusion.

Hail was about to reply when there was a loud thud and everyone stopped what they were doing as they turned their attention to where the sound came from. Lying on the ground was the dead body of the ape leader with the creature standing over the body. It placed its front left paw down on the body while it glared down at its audience in annoyance and anger. All was silent for a while before the creature opened its mouth and what it did next surprised Miyuki. It spoke in a young female voice, which held a deep anger as it glared at the apes that stood in front of it.

"This is what happens when you apes or anyone else who disturbers me when I'm hunting in my forest home!" growled the creature in a voice that was as smooth as silk and would have held a gentle tone, but at the moment the creature was in a state of fury. "Now I suggest you little apes leave before I decide to lose my temper and kill the rest of you like I did to your leader!"

When the smaller apes didn't move the creature arched her neck back before shooting her head forward as she let out a thunderous roar that shook the earth beneath everyone's feet. The remaining smaller apes let out a screech before they quickly took off in a panic. Miyuki watched the apes run down the path that she and her two traveling companions had journeyed down from before she turned to look at the creature once again. Miyuki couldn't help but stare when she saw how beautiful the creature looked as the she-beast stood proudly front of her.

Now that she was able to get a good look at the creature, Miyuki saw that the creature had slim legs and a lean body. Muscles rippled underneath the fur, which shifted every time the creature moved her frame.

'Whoa, I've never see a creature this amazing before,' thought Miyuki to herself.

The creature arched her neck up again before she turned her gaze on Miyuki and Hail as she glared at the two suspiciously. Miyuki shrunk under the gaze of the creature as she stared up at her in fear and curiosity. Hail was the first one to speak as he glared up at the creature before him, while slipping his sword back into its sheath.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the half-breed herself," scoffed Hail with a sneer.

The creature let out a snarl as she stepped over the body of the dead alpha ape. She made her way towards Miyuki and Hail before stopping in front of the two. She towered over them with her eyes holding a dangerous glint within their depths.

"Watch your tongue you arrogant little cheetah or else I'll rip your head off!" growled the creature as she glared down at Hail in anger.

"Hikaru, wait!" called out Hunter as he quickly ran over to Hail and Miyuki before standing in front of the creature. "Please, do not act too hasty!"

The creature, Hikaru, glared down at Hunter before speaking again: "You'd better have a good reason for trampling through my territory Hunter of the Cheetah Clan, because I'm not in the best of moods today."

"Since when are you ever in the best of moods?" questioned Hail boldly.

Hikaru let out another snarl as she glared at Hail in fury.

"Hail," spoke Hunter as he gave the younger cheetah a warning look before turning to talk to Hikaru again. "We do not mean to trespass on your territory Hikaru. We're just trying to get to Dragon City."

"And why are you traveling to Dragon City?" questioned Hikaru with narrowed eyes.

"Because we are taking this young girl there, where she would be safe from Malefor's forces," replied Hunter as he gestured with his free hand towards Miyuki. "May I present our female traveling companion, Miyuki of the Southern Water Tribe."

The creature turned her attention on Miyuki as she gave the teenager a curious, yet suspicious look. Miyuki gulped before she turned to look at Hunter nervously. Hunter looked at Miyuki with a calm smile before he gestured with his free hand again towards the creature that stood before them.

"Miyuki, allow me to introduce Hikaru the Light Dragon. She is the guardian of this forest."

Miyuki quickly turned her attention back on Hikaru before she quickly doing a deep bow in front of the creature, who was now known as a Light Dragon.

"I-it's an honor to meet you Ms. Hikaru," spoke Miyuki in a soft voice as she stood straight back up again.

Hikaru blinked in surprise as she stared at Miyuki for a moment before lowering her head, until she was at eye level with the teenager. Miyuki stood completely still as she stared at Hikaru in confusion for a second. She then let out a small yelp when the dragon brought her snout close to Miyuki's face and began to sniff her. A few strands of Miyuki's hair were drawn towards Hikaru's pink nose as the dragon took in the young human's scent. It lasted for about a few minutes before the dragon pulled her head back slightly and stared at Miyuki with a deep frown etched on her face.

"Hmm…you don't smell anything like those disgusting apes that intrude upon my territory," spoke Hikaru in a calm voice. "You smell more like the salt of the ocean and the cold air of an arctic region from a place that I have no memory of visiting before."

"That's because she came from a different world, half-breed." Hail stepped in as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Hikaru snapped her head towards Hail in annoyance: "I told you to watch your tongue cheetah or else."

"Make me!" challenged Hail with a snarl.

"Hail!" exclaimed Hunter angrily.

"Hail, please stop," spoke Miyuki as she quickly touched the white cheetah's shoulder before looking up Hikaru. "I'm sorry about my friend Ms. Hikaru. Sometimes he lets his pride get the better of him."

"One of these days that pride of his will be the death of him," warned Hikaru as she turned her attention on Miyuki again. "Now, tell me. What you are and how you were able to summon water from out of the stream like that?"

"Um…well…I'm a fifteen year old human girl and I've only started Waterbending last night so-"

"Waterbending?" interrupted Hikaru as she raised an eyebrow up in confusion. "What is this Waterbending that you are speaking of?"

"That's…kind of hard to explain," said Miyuki as she scratched the back of her head nervously. "You see… where I come from my people have the able to control and bend water. They've learned this skill by observing how the moon pushed and pulled the tides of the ocean."

Hikaru let out a hum of interest before asking another question: "Do you and your people learn this Bending when you come of age?"

"N-not really," answered Miyuki with a shake of her head.

"What do you mean by that?" questioned Hikaru with a low rumble.

"Well…only a few people who have a strong hydrokinetic stability are able to do it," replied Miyuki. "Those who don't have hydrokinetic abilities are known as non-benders."

"Interesting," Hikaru mused as she drew her head back and stood up to her full height again. "I have never heard of this ability before."

"Um…I hate to interrupt this lovely conversation, but shouldn't we be going?" spoke Hail in an impatient voice.

"You're right Hail," said Hunter as he nodded his head in agreement. "We can't afford to waste any more time in standing around here. Not when those apes are around. Miyuki will be in more danger if we stay standing in one place for too long."

"Yeah, not to mention that those apes wanted to catch her alive for their master." Hail added as he pointed his thumb at Miyuki, who was standing just beside him.

"Yes...that also concerns me," said Hunter with a nod of his head.

"But why would their master want her alive?" asked Hail out of curiosity.

"I don't know," answered Hunter honestly. "But now's not the time to ponder these things. We need to keep moving."

"Not so fast!" exclaimed Hikaru as she stomped her front paw down on the ground as she stopped the group from taking another step. "Don't think you're getting off easy here after I saved your lives. Besides, you're trespassing on my territory and you can't just walk through here like you own it."

"So what are you trying to tell us, half-breed?" questioned Hail in a rude voice.

"I think we have to ask her permission to walk through her territory, Hail." Miyuki answered as she looked at the white cheetah for a second before looking up at Hikaru again. "Um…is that right?"

"Yes," answered Hikaru with a nod of her head. "But along with seeking my permission of letting you pass through my forest, I will also be accompanying you halfway through your journey."

"WHAT!?" exclaimed Hail in disbelief.

"That seems like a fair deal," said Hunter with a nod of approval.

Hail quickly turned to look at Hunter in shock: "You can't be serious?"

"We don't have much of a choice here Hail," reasoned Hunter as he gave the younger cheetah a hard look. "We are intruding on Hikaru's territory, and we do need her protection if we encounter more of Malefor's minions."

"But she's a half-breed, an outsider to her dragon clan!" hissed Hail as he tried to talk Hunter out of getting Hikaru to help them.

'Why does he keep calling Ms. Hikaru a half-breed?' thought Miyuki in confusion as she looked up at Hikaru, who was glaring daggers at Hail.

Hikaru seemed to notice Miyuki staring at her before looking down at the teenager with a raised eyebrow.

"You got a problem with half-breeds?" questioned Hikaru in a challenging voice.

"N-no, no I don't Ms. Hikaru," answered Miyuki as she raised her hands up in defense. "It's just that, from where I come from, we have creatures that aren't really ordinary. They're creatures that are a mixture of two different animals."

Hikaru blinked as she looked down at Miyuki in utter astonishment before bending her neck down, where she was once again at eye level with the young girl.

"So, what you're saying is that even though I'm a half-breed you're not really bother by my appearance?" asked Hikaru curiously.

Miyuki slowly shook her head as a small smile spread out on her face: "Not really, because…well there's nothing wrong with being different, is there?"

Hikaru hummed as she thought over the words that Miyuki had said before she slowly pulled her head back and returned to her normal height again. This human was an interesting creature to say the least, but can she be trusted? That was the question going through Hikaru's head. The Light Dragon decided to keep an eye on this young human, just to make sure that this young girl didn't try anything funny while venturing through the she-dragon's territory.

"Hikaru," spoke Hunter as the dragon turned her attention on the older cheetah. "We would be honored if you could guide us through your forest while we journey to Dragon City."

"Even though we don't need your help," grumbled Hail in a low voice.

Hikaru gave the white cheetah a glare before looking back down at Hunter: "Usually I would decline at your offer in escorting you through my forest. What with you having one very annoying cheetah teenager tagging along with you. But I know that you and your group members would find a way to travel through my territory no matter what. So I might as well help you and guard your backs, while you three continue to travel to Dragon City."

"Thank you Hikaru," said Hunter as he bowed respectfully in front of the Light Dragon.

"Yes, thank you very much." Miyuki echoed as she also bowed before Hikaru.

Hail only scoffed as he turned his head away from the dragon and his two traveling companions. Hikaru returned the gesture by snorting before turning away and started walking down the trail that led deeper into the forest.

"Let's get this over with," growled Hikaru as she walked ahead of the group. "The sooner you're all out of my forest, the happier I'll be."

Miyuki and Hunter quickly followed after the she-dragon, while Hail held back for a moment before Miyuki turn around and called out to him.

"Come on Hail, you're going to get left behind!" shouted Miyuki as she waited for Hail to follow after them.

Hail let out a sigh before he ran up to Miyuki and began to walk beside her as the two of them followed after Hunter and Hikaru. The trio of travelers and their guide walked through the forest in silence as they made their way towards Dragon City in hopes of having a safe journey, and not having to face anymore enemies along the way.
