WE GOT A SEASON 3! WOOHOO! BEST NEWS EVER! And that finale! OMG!
Six Months Later:
It has been six months since Rayna and Deacon had said goodbye to their dream house. Over those six months they had grown closer together as a family and Deacon got signed onto Highway 65 as a solo artist. Rayna's album was doing great and Scarlet had just released hers. Juliette was still with Avery and everything seemed to be going well for everyone.
Rayna had been staying at Deacon's when the girls were with Teddy and he had slept over at her house a couple times when they were hanging out with the girls and it had gotten late. They never 'moved in' together, but it was almost as if they had. They couldn't wait till the house was finished! They were sitting at the breakfast table at his house and Rayna's phone rang. "Oh my God babe, it's the people for the house!" Deacon grinned, "answer it!" She took his hand and put the phone on loud speaker.
"Ms. Jaymes?"
"Yes? And it's Rayna."
They heard the person chuckle, "we are calling to inform you that we are almost done with the building, we just need to fix a few things and then the house will be all yours!"
Rayna and Deacon smiled at each other. "That is so great! Thank you! You are done ahead of schedule." The final date for the house to be finished would have been in about a month from now but since they were country royalty everyone sped up for them.
"Yes, we are ahead of schedule. We should be out of here in about a week and a half."
"That sounds great. Thank you so much for keeping us updated with all this."
"It's what good builders do! Also, can you let Mr. Claybourne know that the wood he wanted has been set aside. We will leave it on the back porch for y'all."
Deacon interjected, "it's Deacon and thank you, I'll be sure to use it!"
The man chuckled again, "so we will see you in about two weeks?"
Rayna replied, "yes we will! Thank you." They said their goodbyes and Rayna hung up. She leaned over the table and hugged Deacon, "oh my God! It's almost finished! I can't wait to see it!" Deacon chuckled and kissed her, "me either!"
A week and a half later Rayna had gotten another call, early in the morning. She answered and they told her that the house was finished. Rayna and Deacon got dressed and drove to the house. They slowly pulled up to it and when they saw it a loving feeling settled in their hearts. It was perfect! It had a front porch and two floors and long glass windows, just like the old house, but it was new and it felt great! They were speechless as they got out of the car and walked towards the porch. They stood facing the same front door, since they had decided to keep the same doors, and Rayna slipped her key into the lock. She looked up at Deacon, "ready?" "Yes." She turned the key and opened the door to their new house. Rayna gasped as she walked in and Deacon felt like he had gone back in time. "I love it!" She exclaimed. It smelled like new wood and even though there was no furniture, everything looked perfect. They had picked out the kitchen and bathroom appliances and they had been installed.
They walked in and stood in the middle of the house and Rayna reached out to hug Deacon. He wrapped his arms around her and said, "I'm ready to move into the house with you and the girls. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I think we can finally live our dream." Rayna smiled and kissed him, "I love you too and this feels so right." They walked around the house looking into every empty room. "I think we will have fun painting and setting up the furniture with the girls," Deacon said. Rayna smiled, "they will love it!"
That weekend they all went up there. They had picked out the furniture during the week and Deacon had slowly been bringing it up there and putting it together. Right now he was in the front of the house and he was putting Daphne's bed together as Rayna pulled up with the girls. Daphne and Maddie ran up to him and gave him a hug. Rayna got the paint and painting supplies. As she walked up to her new and perfect family she smiled and a shiver ran down her spine as she saw Deacon putting furniture together, thinking of his hands on her instead. There would be time for that later, they had to get the house together now. She walked up to Deacon and gave him a quick kiss. "Come on girls let's go inside and start painting." The girls ran inside and Rayna and Deacon laughed. "Are you coming to help us?" "Yes. This is the last bed I have to put together. I'll join y'all in a bit." Rayna smiled and walked into the house.
The whole house had been painted a warm light color. Maddie wanted her room to be a light blue and Daphne wanted light purple. They were all wearing old clothes because this could get quite messy. Maddie helped Rayna move the furniture in the middle of the rooms and they covered them so that paint wouldn't get on them. By the time they were done Deacon had joined them. They painted the first coat in Maddie's room and then did the same in Daphne's room.
They had been pretty neat until then but Rayna then whispered in Daphne's ear, "brush Deacon with the paintbrush." Daphne got a cheeky look in her eyes and snuck up behind Deacon with her paintbrush. She swiped it across the front of his shirt. Deacon gasped and then pretended to be mad. "I don't like playing these games," he said. Daphne pointed to Rayna, "she made me do it!" Deacon laughed and looked at Rayna, "oh really?" Maddie was behind Rayna and swiped her own paintbrush on her mom's arm. Rayna gasped and Deacon high fived Maddie. Rayna said, "so it's three against one now?" Maddie, Deacon, and Daphne said, "yeah!" Deacon quickly dipped his paintbrush in paint and swiped it on Rayna's other arm. "Oh no!" Rayna exclaimed. The other three laughed and then Deacon caught Rayna's arms, "get her girls! She can't move!" Rayna said, "no no no! Please let me go!" She tried fighting him but he was too strong. The girls quickly got paint all over Rayna and Deacon was laughing at the disgusted face Rayna was making and let go of her arms by accident. She quickly brushed her paint brush across his cheek and Deacon's mouth fell open. He grabbed Maddie's paintbrush and put it in Rayna's hair. She gasped, "not my hair Deacon!" She pouted. The girls and Deacon laughed and after a little Rayna laughed too.
They finished painting and got each other dirty for the rest of the afternoon and when the sun went down the girls took showers while Rayna and Deacon cooked dinner. "I need a shower! It's going to be hell to try and take the paint out of my hair!" Deacon laughed, "I'm sorry babe. I know it's sacred." He wrapped his arms around her from behind as she put the food on the plates. He kissed her cheek and whispered, "I can help you get it out when the girls go to sleep. We could shower?" Rayna relaxed at his touch, "that sounds good." He moved her matted hair and kissed her neck and she sighed leaning back into him. He pulled her closer and she felt her back against his warm body, "the girls are here babe." He stepped away and she kissed him before bringing the plates in the living room. They ate around the coffee table because the dining room table that was going to be made out of the wood they took out of the old house was still not ready.
About two hours later the girls were asleep on the couch and Deacon was sitting behind Rayna in their bathtub. "Is the paint out of my hair yet?" Deacon rinsed her hair out, "mhm." She leaned back and rested her head on his shoulder, "thank you." He kissed her cheek, "I think we should get out of here and go christen our new bed." Rayna kissed him, "let's go." After they were done making their new and innocent bed not so innocent anymore Rayna snuggled up next to Deacon and said, "I love you babe. I'm proud of you." Deacon kissed her and said, "I love you too." "Do you think your table will be here tomorrow? I really want to see it. It's made out of our old house, it's symbolic of where we have come from." "I got to the call and they said that it would be here within the next few days."
The next day the doorbell rang while they were all eating breakfast and Deacon went to get it. "Ray, the table is here!" Rayna and the girls ran to the door as the men brought it in. After they thanked them they all went to touch it and look at it. It was simple but held so much meaning. It held their past and it was all propped up in a new and good thing which is what their lives had become. Family meals would be shared there in the future and new memories would be added onto it. The wood from that table contained so much history and Rayna and Deacon both felt like now that a piece of them when they were younger was in the new house it could actually start to be lived in.
Six months had passed since they had officially moved into the house and Deacon felt like it was time to propose to Rayna. He prepared a small party and invited Bucky, Tandy, and Scarlet. Rayna was out of the town with Juliette for a concert they had put up and Deacon had called Juliette and told her what he was going to do and to let her know to come with Rayna as soon as they landed. They pulled up to the house and saw that it was decorated beautifully. They got out and the girls ran to hug them. Rayna and Juliette laughed, "hey girls! What's all this for?" Rayna asked. The girls shrugged and they pulled Rayna closer to the house. "Where is Deacon?" Tandy was standing at the door, "hey sis!" Rayna gave Juliette a confused look and Juliette just smiled and shrugged. "Alright y'all what are you not telling me? I'm getting nervous!" They ushered her into the house and Deacon walked toward her and kissed her. "I missed you," he whispered. She smiled, "I missed you too. Want to tell me what's going on?" She asked as she stepped away from him. She said hi to Bucky and Scarlet too. Everyone seemed so happy and she had no idea why.
Deacon took her hand and led her out the back sliding glass doors. Rayna followed him. Her stomach was in knots and she was starting to feel nauseous. The others glued their faces to the window as Deacon led her out. Rayna stopped, "what is all this for? What's the celebration?" "They are here to celebrate us." "Us?" Rayna asked. Deacon kissed her and nodded, "I fell in love with you all those years ago and I have not stopped loving you since. You are the love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I might not remember the first time I did this but I want this time to be crystal clear." He got down on one knee, holding the ring in his hand, and said, "will you marry me Ray?" Rayna gasped and a tear ran down her cheek. "Yes babe! I love you so much!" He slipped the simple ring on her finger and she grinned as she pulled him up and wrapped her arms around his neck. They heard cheers from inside as Deacon lifted her up to kiss her. Rayna kissed him back and she grinned, "I'm so happy!" Deacon smiled, "me too."
Everything felt complete to both of them. Throughout their lives they had always felt like a piece was missing knowing that that piece was each other. Now that they had that they realized that they could be truly happy and everything fell into place.
