Hi all this is a rewrite of my third chapter. I don't own anything belonging to the Harry Potter World, Only OC characters and places. Please give me any feedback as this story is a constant work in progress.
The next day just gets worse. On the way to breakfast I'm about to go into the main hall when I feel people grab me. I'm shoved quickly into an empty classroom by the hall. I grab a quick look at my culprits, its three older boys who look about year 6. Two of them grab either arm and hold me against the wall and the other one sneers down at me. I try to stay calm but my breathing starts to quicken.
"Look you blood-traitor. I don't want you messing with my house, so you better keep quiet or else." I'm scared shitless, feeling the bones in my body shaking in fear. He slaps me across the face. "If you tell anyone about this there will be more. So much it will leave you dead got it?"
I nod fast. I don't want to be hit again. He laughs and turns away, I let out a sigh of relief. I think it's over when he comes back and punches me in the stomach. His friends let me go laughing and I slide to the floor holding my stomach. They walk out of the room leaving the door wide open as if they want everyone to see me. I'm glad everyone is at breakfast. I manage to pick myself up and get out the door. I need to find a bathroom to check my face. I touch my cheek carefully and pain throbs through my face with the touch.
I round a corner and walk into George.
"Hey Rose!" he says with a smile. He frowns as his eyes move to my cheek.
"What happened?" he asks me as he turns my face to could get a better look.
"I'm pretty sure I walked into something," I lie.
"George," Fred calls running up to us. "I just saw Marcus with his gang and I managed to propel a stink bomb right into his face." Fred sees my face. "What happened to you?"
"Doesn't matter just help me get her to the Hospital Wing." George says taking my hand. "Good job by the way." They both high five.
"How did this happen anyway?" Asks Fred.
"She says she walked into something," comment George before I can reply.
"That's the biggest lie if I've ever heard one," snorts Fred.
We arrive at the hospital wing just as the bell signalling the start of first class goes off loud throughout the wing. They put me on a spare pristine white bed and sit down next to me.
"Do you know what I'm thinking Fred?" Looking over at his brother slyly.
"Oh I think I have an idea George." They both look at me, smiles on their face but it doesn't reach their eyes. Identical as if there was a mirror next to one of them.
"We are now going to keep a wary eye on you with our trusted friends moony, padfoot, wormtail, and prongs" they say in unison.
I groan, great babysitters, just what I needed. All I wanted was to get sorted into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw like my parents, make some friends, and enjoy school.
The hospital wing warden whose name is Madame Pomfrey comes over to shoo the two out. She then gets to sorting me out just in time for my next class which is potions. I race all the way there so I'm not late.
I make it just in to sit at the first table available which happened to be Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle's table. Professor Snape our potions teacher starts by giving us this little lecture.
"You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potions making, as there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring senses..."
I kinda dazed off and started thinking about Fred and George. Why they had this annoying need to look after me.
I snap out of my daydream when Snape all of a suddenly started attacking Harry with these questions that obviously he couldn't understand. Draco and his croons started laughing. I stupidly kick Draco to stop him. He looks at me angrily.
"You will pay for that you stupid half-breed." He whispers to me.
I ignore him and pretend to not care. Attacked by seniors and now Draco is threatening me. I may sound like I'm joking but I'm dead serious when I say I'm scared. Snape is now snapping at the chick with frizzy hair who I remember as Hermione. I feel a bit sorry for her.
"For your information Potter, asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful it is known as ..." Snape goes on but I start to feel a burning sensation on my arm and then a sharp sting hits my arm. I look down at my arm suddenly to see that I have 'half-breed' lettered into my arm. Draco is putting away his wand. I had been so distracted that I hadn't noticed him cast the spell.
I look up at him a little shocked that he would do that. He just smirks at me.
"You tell anyone and I will get some very big people you know very well to give you a visit." The burn starts to blister, and I don't even know a cooling spell to stop. I clench my fist tightly to try and focus on something else.
"Oh, and keep your sleeve up as well you should wear that like a medal." He whispers fiercely smiling evilly. I'm really scared now and I have to endure this slow pain for the rest of the day. My eyes start to water more so I wipe my eyes quickly while he isn't looking. Snape finishes what he was ranting about then shouts.
"Well? Why aren't you all coping that down?" Everyone grabs their quill and parchment and start to write it down. Thankfully the burn is on my left hand and I write right-handed.
Snape pairs us off and I'm stuck with Draco. Just great. The Gryffindors for the rest of the lesson don't do so well, a weird-looking boy with slightly too big feet and ears sticking out manages to melt his cauldron.
Snape comes over to our area.
"Look everyone at the perfect way-" he stops midsentence. I see him looking at my arm and I quicky fold my hands under the desk. Snape tries to look as if nothing happened. He looks over our cauldron giving a nod of approval before then walking off. I give a sigh of relief. I get back to the work when Draco comes back. He grabs to where the burn is and twists.
Draco doesn't say anything to me for the rest of the lesson. At the end of the lesson Snape gives us homework, he then calls to me.
"Rose stay behind please." Draco gives me a glare.
I go and stand at his desk while I wait for everyone to leave the room. He sits down behind his desk and lets out a sigh. The coldness he showed towards Harry and the Gryffindors has gone and there is a kindness in his eyes as if I wasn't a student standing before him but a peer.
"Is there anything you want to tell me?" He asks. My hand goes to my burn, I keep my arm turned towards me, so he can't see it. A tear falls from my eyes, I wipe it away quickly.
"I can't, they said they will hurt me again if I tell anyone." I whisper but he hears me all too clearly.
"Who?" He demands the anger seeping from his voice.
"I can't say, and even if I did its one Slytherin against them all. It's me or them. You can expel one of them, but another will just fill his spot." Tears are slipping down my face no matter how hard I try to keep myself together.
He gets up, comes around and kneels in front of me. I close my eyes and I feel him wipe away the tears with his hand. The gentleness of someone I only just met shocks me. No one has ever shown me such kindness as he has done in this short time.
"I'm sorry they did this to you. Do you have any friends you can ask for help?" he asks.
I look at him and think.
"Fred and George Weasley but I have no Slytherin friends."
He takes my arm gently to get a better look.
"I'm a Half-blood too you know and sorted into Slytherin and now the head of house." He says taking out his wand.
He does a healing spell and my skin is back to normal.
"I know what you're going through and I know it won't stop so I want you to come to me next time it happens?" Professor Snape suggests.
I give a nod. It was easier to ask for his help then to ask for help from Fred and George. They won't like me spending time with Gryffindors.
"Also will teach you a few spells from time to time to help protect yourself. You can also consider me your first Slytherin friend." He says smiling and then heads me on my way which leaves me with a smile on my face.
