I tried to reach 3000 words but it was really pushing it for this chapter.

I love all the reviews people leave me so don't hesitate to leave a review of how this chapter went or for improvement.

Chapter 16:

I lifted myself up off the floor, wincing at the pain. Revenge was deep set on my mind but I just didn't know how to get them all back. I know that if I got caught then I will get another pounding. I head to the common room taking the long way so I'm not seen by anyone. I run into the bathroom to check my face. My cheek had swollen and resembled a mouldy tomato with the colours of bruising starting to show. Pansy storms into the bathroom and shoves a round container of what looked like masking cream for my face.
"Lucian told me to give this to you," she mumbled trying not to look at my bruises.
Before I can give her any thanks she storms back out. Once I applied it to my face, it slowly went back to my pale normal completion. I could still feel the painful steady thumping in my cheek but you couldn't see it, just what those pricks wanted.
Shit, at this rate I'm going to be late for Potions. I run, grab my books and then race to the class room hoping I won't get detention. I arrive to see everyone still waiting outside the dungeon room for Snape. It was strange that he wasn't here already. Not but a minute later he banged the door open barking at us to get to our cauldrons. I chose one at the back of the room furthest away from the Gryffindor side. Snape stand in front of the class, his hands folded into his black cloak. He did not look happy, but then again he normally doesn't when he is teaching. On the black board behind him are the instruction for the hair-raising potion that we will be making. As the last of the students filed in, one person who I wouldn't want to see here ever walked in to stand next to Snape. Lucius Malfoy, all dressed up in shades of black and red, with his snake walking stick. A cold shiver went down my spine as his silver eyes met mine. I wanted to be sick right into my cauldron but I pushed down any bile that tried to come up.

"Lucius Malfoy is currently stepping in for Professor Dumbledore as he had stepped down temporarily," Snape drawls not looking too happy himself.

"I hope to help address any issues you have to make your school year most enjoyable," grinned Lucius. "I also hope to correct any problems." He looks over at me. I try not to let the fear get to me, I have had enough of hiding and playing the victim. After he left Snape go us stuck into doing the hair-raising potion. I had already practiced this over the summer holidays so it was pretty easy and luckily for me I was left alone at my own cauldron. Draco was too busy giving smart comments to the Gryffindor's to notice me today and Snape seemed to being picking on that side as well. He had managed to make two girls cry, three groups start over, and that was in the first thirty minutes. I managed to make it through Potions and Herbology without some much as a glance from anyone. The threats from my fellow Slytherins was still deep in my mind, and I didn't know what to do. My only solution was to hide away from everyone for the rest of the day so naturally the Library was my only solution; most Slytherins wouldn't be caught dead inside. I sat deep in the folds of a book in a dark corner of the library to hide away from the outside world. As I lost myself in the world of books, I wrote a list of people whom I was avoiding.

People to Avoid:

* Fred and George Weasley

Can't let them get beaten up

* Lucius Malfoy

Evil spawn who will just cause more damage

*Draco Malfoy

Evil spawn's son so should avoid at all costs

*Snape

He will give me some lecture about fitting in, don't need that now

*Slytherins!

They are all piles of shit so nothing good will come if I'm around them.

I screwed up the piece of parchment angry with myself for letting all of this shit happen. My stomach grumbles warning me to eat. Groaning to myself at having to leave my sanctuary, I make my way towards the aromas of the Great Hall. I was pretty late for dinner so hopefully there was some dessert left over and that most people had gone.

As I walk towards the Slytherin table, nobody notices me and thankfully most of my house mates had left leaving my end of the table deserted. I grab a bowl full of lemon meringue pie, my all-time favourite dessert. I gaze around the hall trying to spot anyone on my list. I spot Lucius lounging on Professor Dumbledore's chair, I can't spot any of the senior Slytherins, and then I catch the eye of Fred. He grins at me and nudges George. I look back to my dessert hoping that they won't come over but of course they had to make my life difficult as they sat down and started grabbing what is most likely their 3rd helping of dessert. I could feel people's eyes on me from around the hall, I knew it wasn't a good kind of stare. Why did I have to get into so much shit at school, why couldn't I just blend it and everyone ignore me for once?

"We haven't seen you in while," they say in unison.

I cringe, "You both need to leave."

They look up at me for the first time since sitting down. Lucian walks in, spotting me.

"Rose? What are you doing with these losers?" He asks with disgust painted on his face.

"When did you two become such close friends?" Fred asks, George just looks blank.

"Oh we have always been friends," he squeezes my shoulder hard.

"Rose?" Fred questions but I just stare at my plate.

The both leave the hall not looking back.

"If that happens again you will regret it," he whispers into my ear.

I clench my jaw, angry at myself but mainly at these arrogant Slytherins and their consistent need to ruin my life. I leave the great hall in a foul mood, I'm sick of being stepped on by everyone.

"Oi it's the Slytherin Mudblood!" calls Crabbe from the courtyard. "Shouldn't even be in Slytherin."

Without even thinking I walk towards him with fists clenched into balls. He's standing with Goyle looking like the idiot they both are. My fiery fist collides with his jaw causing him to fall over, I wipe the blood off my hands as I walk away.

"Miss Grey!" calls Professor McGonagall stopping me in my tracks. "Never in all my years have I witnessed an act of such brutish behavior. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Well…" I began looking towards her. "He looked at me and called me a Mudblood. He deserved it."

"No one deserves to be attacked," She says indicating for me to follow.

"Would've fooled me," I mumble as we walk to halls.

"Professor McGonagall," Lucius sneers as he obstructs our path. "Where are you taking Miss Grey?"

His query makes me sick to the stomach. The one person I wanted to avoid at all cost just couldn't be avoided. I hadn't even made a day and he's caught me in his trap.

"Miss Grey has attacked another student. I am escorting her to her head of house for disciplinary matters to be taken as such."

"I will take it from here," he says grabbing my forearm and leading me towards the headmaster's room.

"Mr Malfoy, I am quite capable of escorting Miss Grey there myself." She grabs my other arm causing me to be stuck in between to very strong people.

"Professor McGonagall," Lucius smirks. "Do I need to remind you who is in charge here?"

With his cane he lightly taps the end on her hand. Professor McGonagall lets go in shock with a look of disgust.

He leads up into what used to be Professor Dumbledore's office, he lets go of me and sits in his chair. Looking around I don't notice any changes since he left which is good. It means he'll be coming back and soon I hope.

I look back to see the steel grey eyes watching me.

"Rose Grey."

My name sounds like ice on his tongue, coming out smooth and sharp at the same time. He has a folder, not large but not as small as I would like, in his white hands. He opens it, flicking through the pages.

"You seem to have made quite a name for yourself at Hogwarts in your two years of schooling."

"It matters not what you are thought to be, but what you are,"

"Well put," he sneers. "You are hereby suspended for the remainder of the year."

I boiled over with anger. "What! Can't do this, there is only three weeks left of the year."

"Which you will spend at home," he says calmly staring at me. "What I want to know is where do you live?"

"Wh—What?" I stammer.

"Where do you live?" he repeats himself.

"I—ah live at St Georgia's Orphanage," I say as calmly as I can. I remember the conversation I had with Snape about not telling anyone about him adopting me and I'm sure as hell not telling a Malfoy.

He leers at me. "It says here that you left St Georgia's halfway through your first year. So how is that possible?"

"Um well…" I mumble trying to find some excuse.

He gives me a look of pure evil. He walks over to me placing the silver end of his cane on my cheek.

"Where do you live?" he asks, I'm guessing for the last time.

*Knock Knock*

Lucius' eyes move to the door as he lowers his cane. I let out a sigh of relief at the momentary distraction. As the door opens relief floods my chest as my father walks through the door.

"Lucius," he drawls.

"Professor Snape."

"I was just looking for Miss Rose here," he sneers at him. "Professor McGonagall explained what happened. I can take over, it doesn't need to bother your industrious timeline."

"We were just discussing where she is living," Lucius says looking at both of us, a smirk painted on his face. "Because it is very worrying that she doesn't have a current living situation listed on her file."

"Well her parents are dead so she isn't living with them," replies Snape sarcastically.

Lucius goes red making me smirk. Snape strides to me placing a hand on my back. It serves as a comforting reminder of his protection over me. I feel his gentle push towards to door but then Lucius swings his cane in front of us to stop us.

"She is suspended as of now," he says to Snape. "I don't want to see her after today."

Snape just looks at him with his black eyes. He doesn't say anything, just moves me out of the room and down the hall. His hand never wavers from my back as he leads me to his room. We stop outside the doorway, I knew he was going to explode with anger. He kneels in front of me to get to my height. I wasn't short for my age but standing next to him I just came up to his shoulder.

"Why did you hit him?"

"I ah," I start looking at my feet. "He called me a Mudblood."

"You shouldn't be causing trouble."

"Oh come on," I complain. "Trouble finds me, not the other way round."

All he does is sigh as he stands back up to tower me.

"I got Lucia to pack your things and take them home," Snape says as we walk into his cluttered room.

"You knew I would be suspended," I shout.

"I knew that Lucius would try and find a reason to get you suspended," he drawls. "I didn't think that you would get yourself suspended."

I huff as I stand in the sooty fireplace.

"I'll see you soon, ok?" he wearily asks, handing me the floo powder.

"Yea, whatever," I snap grabbing a handful.

Before he can say anything I shout "Spinners End!" and throw the powder into the fire creating a green flame, sucking me home.

I was greeted by a very excited Lucia when I walked out of the green flame.

"Go away," I snap at her.

I wasn't in the mood for her chatter and questions, or her consistent need to feed me.

I storm up to my room, I could feel all the hate and anger from school building up. I slam the door behind me, the noise vibrating throughout the small house. I spot my trunk at the end of my bed. Pacing around the room I start shaking with anger.

I need to smash something. I need to punch something.

Before I realize what I'm doing I walk to the wall by my door and punch it as hard as I could.

"OW!"

In between the pain in my hand, I hear a scampering coming up the stairs.

"Miss?" I hear through the door. "Lucia heard a yell. Are you ok?"

"Fine!" I call through gritted teeth. "I just banged my toe on my trunk."

"If you say so Miss."

I hear the usual pop of her disappearance. Looking at the wall I noticed a dent in the wall, which would explain my now red knuckles.

I didn't leave the house for several days. I didn't even leave my room, only to go to the bathroom. When it was finally the weekend I left my silent abode to search for entertainment. The hallway was just as dark, damp, and quiet as always but it felt comforting to me. The house is its normal quiet as I walk down the stairs. I could hear Lucia in the kitchen probably baking something. I hadn't really looked around the house before as I hadn't really spent much time here. Looking around on the ground floor I come across a door I had never been through. I open it to find a room full of books, the room was just bigger than my bedroom. There were shelves on all four walls from floor to ceiling, books were piled in corners making the room feel full. I started to browse the dusty shelves, my curiosity taking the best of me. I pull several books out and open them gazing through the pages but I was confused. Every single book I picked up was a muggle book and the room was full of them. They had pictures that stayed put, weird names by weird authors, and I couldn't understand why I was drawn to their pages. Finally after browsing for several minutes, I picked up a small book call The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by an author called C.S Lewis. I sat on the window seat that looked out onto Spinner's End. The sky was a murky grey giving sign to a rainy day but that didn't mind me as I'm used to the indoors and to solitude. I found the book hard to read as if it was another language all together.

"Rose!" says Snape causing me to drop the book. "What are you doing in here?"

"I…ah… was bored and kinda stumbled in?"

He sigh and rubs his eyes, the bags showing a lack of sleep. I was guessing they hadn't found the 'Heir of Slytherin' yet.

"Why do you have so many muggle books?" I ask.

"My father was a Muggle and loved to collect books much to my mother's disgust." He says running his fingers over the spines letting the dust fall. "There is a book store at the end of the street, why don't you go buy a few."

He places money into my hand pushing me out the door. As I walked down Spinner's end I gazed at the muggle money, always excited to touch something so close to my mum.

For this chapter I hated not having Rose at Hogwarts for the end of school but I didn't know how else to bring out the shitness of Lucius.
