Author Note: Hello I am back. Sorry for how long it takes to update because I had a little writer's block when I wrote the chapter 7. Sorry if I am mixing up my past and present tenses very badly. Hey, you guys can understand what's going on in my chapter, right?
In my Story, I want to change most of Servant's Personal skills or class skills with a different effect on them because most of the skills are pointless now. So do not flame me just because I add inaccurate information about fate/series. This is my first time writing a story and I have had this idea in my mind during summer. So I was able to research in Type-Moon wiki, read light novels of it and watch some of the TV anime of Fate Series.
Anyway, Enjoy and don't forget to review. :) and :D
This story has been updated and rewritten on 4/30/2018: I rewrote the chapter now, as it has more meat on the bone of this chapter with more dialogue and scenes. I have made sure that some of the scenes make sense and fit the words well enough.
Groaning, Benjamin opened his eyes to see the window shining a light in his eyes as he stood up and placed his hands on head and said, "God it hurts so much."
He hadn't had a dream in such a long time since he was a little child. Benjamin struggled with what he just saw, there were blurred scenes and so many emotions shoved in his head. His head felt like it was going to split in two and it looked like he needed to buy painkillers to dull the pain. "What was that?" At three places, it was in forests where there were animals and plants, then that last one before he woke up from his dream was something like a white light of Heaven with a rainbow-colored jewel-like brilliance on its center.
Leaving his bed, he looked at the hour on his cell phone before putting it in his pocket. It was Saturday morning. He walked to his closet and changed his clothes.
Benjamin moved downstairs and paused at the door, greeted by Enkidu, who was waiting for him.
When he opened the kitchen door, he saw what gave him a heart attack. The kitchen around them was completely in shambles with equipment. Atalanta was sitting on the floor and roasting a deer on a stick inside the oven. It looked like she has no idea how to cook like a normal person. Benjamin noticed Chiron sitting in a chair drinking green tea and reading a newspaper.
"Oh, you are awake Benjamin," Chiron spoke without taking his eyes off the newspaper. "How are you feeling?"
Benjamin scratched his head. "I am kinda half sleepy and my head hurts so much from what I just saw in my dream."
"Hmmm, tell me what was your dream like?" Chiron asked him. "Just explain in small detail."
"I was in forests where I saw animals and plants everywhere but that was what I could tell," Benjamin answered him. "Before I woke up, I took a glimpse of what seemed to be a white light from Heaven itself."
Chiron stared at him with a thoughtful face before he said, "Hmm, I see."
Benjamin then noticed Chiron was also carrying a book with the title name 'The Song of Achilles.' "Chiron, are you reading about one of your pupil's past life?" Benjamin questioned him.
"Oh, yes, I want to understand how Achilles has earned his place as a Heroic Spirit," Chiron answered with a smile on his face.
Benjamin understood that Chiron just wanted to know what happened to his pupil after he died of an arrow shot in the heel.
Benjamin turned to Atalanta who was skewering the meat and devoured a big chunk. Benjamin also saw that behind her, there were two dead deer on the ground that had arrows in their necks. How the hell did she find these deer that quickly? They are hard to find in the forest. "Hm... Master, do you like deer? I don't mind giving you one, but it made me remember something unpleasant from awhile ago."
"Uh... No thank, Atalanta, but that's not how you cook meat and you don't put the food in the oven like a campfire," Benjamin stammered. She cooked the deer like she was in the wilderness. He hoped she didn't steal his food.
Atalanta turned her head to Benjamin and nodded as knowing what he said before she turned back to continue eating her snack. "Got it but I feel more at ease cooking like this, Master."
Benjamin nodded his head. So that's what an Independent Action is called, as the class skill can cause a Servant to remain for extended periods of time in this world without an established contract. It can be troublesome because the downside of this is that they are harder to control and can easily ignore orders that they dislike. But it depends on what kind of Archer you are summoning. For example, the Servant Archer Chiron is easy to get along with but Atalanta needs some time to understand her.
But for some reason, Chiron and Atalanta have sensed that they have more mana than they should have. They believe that most of the skills require mana, but since they are flesh and blood, it looks like most of them have a different effect on the different servants.
Benjamin took a glass of milk from the refrigerator and sat down, turned on the TV, and watched what's on the news. It was a list of disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, bombings, terrorist attacks, and issues in the Middles East areas.
It was a few minutes later he started to notice a little girl with long white hair and pink eyes, wearing a black and pink dress that was like an elegant Gothic Lolita (Fate/Grand Order design), holding his Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book standing right next to him.
"...Uh hello, what is your name, little girl?" Benjamin asked, feeling a little nervous the way she stared at him. It took a few seconds for him to realize she was a servant and how easy it was to not notice her.
The little girl gazed at Benjamin, even more, looking up and down, which made Benjamin edgy towards her.
"Nursery Rhyme," softly answered the girl in the most emotionless and bored voice that Benjamin had ever heard in his life before speaking once more in a cheerful voice, "A good day to the wonderful of you."
Benjamin relaxed his tense muscles from the tense mood. He put his fingers to his face trying to learn what kind of Heroic Spirit name that was, until he realized something, she is not a type of normal person you see in books.
Nursery Rhyme, an irregular servant, is not a specific individual with her own identity. She is a manifestation of traditional poems or songs for the love of young children towards the nursery rhyme genre. This makes her a champion of children. It possibly formed the foundation for a book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which was the best-known work in the world.
Still, Benjamin studied her appearance, with an elegant Gothic Lolita, and porcelain-white skin and cute eyes that resembled Alice in Wonderland. "So, Nursery Rhyme, is it okay that I call you Alice?" Benjamin asked in hopes that she could agree with that name.
There was dead silence in the room. Benjamin was afraid to move, but none more so than Enkidu who quickly moved forward, hoping to whisk his master away from harm.
A few seconds later, Nursery Rhyme finally answered "Oh right, but keep calling me Alice." She walked to a soft couch and sat in it, reading Benjamin's book.
Enkidu shook Benjamin's shoulder. "Are you alright Benjamin?" said Enkidu, worried.
Benjamin snapped out of it. "Sorry Enkidu, I just felt goosebumps and static electricity run through my body," Benjamin said in a shocked voice as he thought of seeing a glimpse of death in his eyes, though this could be argued as paranoid delusions. He should be careful what he says from the looks of her, for he said a sensitive topic about someone's name.
Enkidu was worried about Benjamin. From what he had seen on Alice's stats, every single one of her stats is weak, but she had shown her high ranked skills with her Noble Phantasm rank of EX. Enkidu was not too worried about his/herself but feared Benjamin would get caught in the crossfire, for he can be easily killed.
Benjamin looked at Alice, who was busy reading the book and sighed. He might have unknowingly brought back some memories to her and he made a note that he should not ask any more questions about her name.
He returned back to the kitchen to find out Atalanta had almost finished eating three deer in five minutes. He also saw Chiron carrying a bunch of herbs and placing them in a mixing bowl.
"Oh, do you need something Benjamin?" asked Chiron, who was starting to grind the herbs. Benjamin did not want to know what he was making.
"...Uh not really, I just wanted to know, do you guys have any changes of clothes?" Benjamin asked smoothly. Taking note of their strange outfits was going to make them the center of attention.
"No Benjamin, we have too spent much our time fighting each other and making plans, that we do not have any time to explore the city of Trifas to even buy casual clothes," Chiron answered.
Benjamin blinked. "Oh great, this is going to be hard to pick clothes for you guys." Benjamin took his car key out of his pockets. "Ok right now, we are going to New Jersey to buy clothes for you guys. Is that alright?"
Chiron nodded his head. "I do not mind, I've always wanted to see how the world has changed since my time and see the stuff that the world has to offer."
"But first, I am going to give you some clothes to cover some parts of yours, as it's going to be hard to explain this tail and ears of yours," Benjamin said as he showed the servant form in public as it may complicate things for him. With that, Benjamin gave Atalanta his sister's clothing, which the style was not that different to her Servant style, the only things missing were her tail, which was hidden under her skirt, and her ears, which were still on show, and instead of her dress, she was wearing a red and black dress uniform with a red cross on the back of the shirt and a pair of trainers. While Chiron was dressed in formal attire, including a tailcoat jacket from Benjamin's grandpa with his grass green hair tied back in a neat ponytail that made him look very calm even in tense situations with an ever-gentle expression on his face.
Benjamin called the rest of the other servants to get in the car. Atalanta picked up Alice and at same time hugged her to death, which Alice did not like to be squeezed to death. Benjamin tried not to laugh at this scene in fear that Alice would kill him with just her eyes.
As Benjamin put his key in the car keyhole, he noticed Atalanta looking inside the car a little bit longer. She glanced inside the back passenger seat and smiled, taking a seat by the window side behind the driver. She wiggled her ears atop her head and cheerfully smiled, eager to see the world outside and what it had to offer in this day and age, especially since she was last alive. Atalanta was ready for anything. "So, Master, what's next? Where are we going?"
"In the short term, we shall be going back into the city I am currently driving around," he explained as the skyline of a rather large city started to come into view. Admittedly, this state was rather beautiful outside of its cities, as there was everything from mountains to forests to fields. Well, he had to admit that he hadn't expected Archer to take the back seat. It was honestly rather strange. Clearly, he had much to learn about his new servant.
He was still worried that they were going to be a little shocked about the immediate world, which was going to be a pain in the ass to explain almost anything about the modern world. As servants from different periods would suffer crippling culture shock, that can deter them from fulfilling their duties, and enable them to blend in with the era's society. A servant's potential would be crippled and they can find things that would have been unthinkable in their lifetime to be mundane or worthy of scorn.
But such knowledge of that makes the worry unnecessary, as Chiron explained that when Servants are summoned they are given knowledge of information about technology, culture, science, language, and terms of an era that would allow them to fit into any era. They were summoned in order to most properly work with their Masters and blend into society. No matter how ancient the Servants, they should understand a number of concepts that were not known in their time.
Benjamin wondered how much information the Holy Grail gave them, for he is not sure how up to date the Holy Grail was. Some concepts may need to still be explained to them. When Benjamin came out of his mansion-sized house, he sensed a huge amount of energy coming out of the concrete grounds. He prayed that The Church and the Mage Association did not investigate the ley lines. He did not want them to find out about the Holy Grail, for he knew it would be World War 3 over the cup.
But he would worry about that later. The Servants are going to be pains in the ass for him and also his bank account, not only are they eating a lot compared to a human being, his house was going to be full of them really soon. Things were going to get rather interesting, especially if his servants were going to spend his time in public appearing as he did..they would have to find some kind of covering for what appeared to be the animal parts of them though.
So Benjamin and other Servants are going to New Jersey to buy clothes and other stuff. Keep in mind that I do not know New Jersey city maps or areas that much, so forgive me to those who live in New Jersey.
Servants now have the ability to see each others' states, but something like Secret of Pedigree or For Someone's Glory hides certain sections of their statistics and skills.
Most of the Servants were able to remember their past life and Holy Grail war but cannot remember much about what happened in War. Some of them cannot remember at all. Few can remember what really happened in their War, like King Arthur or EMIYA. Some of them were Summoned for the first time, like Fate/Grand Order Servants. The Ruler-class servants allow their mind to retain the memories of each repeating war, unlike other Servants like Joan of Arc or Shirou Tokisada Amakusa.
I do know that Nursery Rhyme does not have its own body and it can manifest itself to be an identical twin of the current Master. But Nursery likes and cares about her previous master, so she takes the form of her previous master to honor her form.
So the next chapter will be Benjamin buying clothes for Atalanta and Chiron. You guys can help me write what kind of clothes they want to wear or tell what they look like.
Near to the end of Chapter 7 will be another servant. I am going to give a hint, he is an extremely powerful Rider, has golden eyes who like the sun, and his appearance is like a presence of a shining sun king.
