Life Starts Now

Chapter 4.) Stealing is Fun!

After grabbing her father's jetpack and some of his grenades- she did oh so love grenades- Clairissa skipped ominously to the front of the airship where she found Doc and Drew at the wheel, staring at the screen in front of them intently.

"Hey guys. So, tell me, what was that big jolt earlier?"

Doc grumbled, "Argost somehow maneuvered behind us and got a shot in." Drew checked the rear-view camera for any sign of Argost, once more.

"Ah. That explains why the side of the airship is smoking," Clairissa said thoughtfully.

"It's what?" Drew exclaimed, whipping her head around reflexively. "Clairissa… why are you wearing that jetpack?"

"Oh, because it's fashionable, and you know I am totally into fashion." Drew frowned. "Well it's to fly with, obviously!"

"But where are you-?" Drew cut off as she realized what Clairissa had planned.

"Adios, aunt, uncle! For geniuses, you're pretty stupid." And then she disappeared through the door, shivering as the rough wind chilled her.

Clairissa shot directly up, after becoming used to the temperature, and watched the clouds around the airship, searching for Argost. She yelped and quickly jolted to the side as a large blast shot past her, missing her by a hair. "Is it seriously this easy?" Clairissa asked herself, staring at the top of Argost's ship. With a surprisingly little amount of effort, she opened a hatch on the top with the override code she had stol- borrowed- and dropped in the squeaky clean hallway.

Not as an expression. Literally squeaky clean. Clairissa giggled at the sound as she squeaked her way down the passage.

"I saw the girl leave, she's probably going to come after me, so keep an eye out, Munya," Argost spoke to his man-servant. Munya, in response, merely grunted.

"Aw, looking out for me? I'm so touched; I hadn't realized you cared so," Clairissa snarked from the ceiling, where she hung. Because she was most certainly spider-man. Argost practically jumped a foot off his chair and turned to glare at the sneaky little girl. "Yo," she greeted, picking at her fingernails.

"How did you…?"

Clairissa cut him off by saying, "If you find any holes in the hull, then they're totally not my fault."

Heh, deception. Clairissa greatly enjoyed misleading and toying with people.

Argost growled at the girl, clenching his fists. His frown quickly changed as he noticed Van Rook walk in, looking somewhat exhausted. As soon as he saw Clairissa, who still somehow managed to cling to the ceiling, his body language switched to that of surprise, and he made eye contact with Argost.

The pale man's lips twitched in an amused smirk, causing Clairissa to tense, and nodded.

Damn it, Van Rook thought. There were some things that Clairissa, being taught by him, had never been able to surpass him on.

Sneaking was one of those things.
