Chapter 23: Mr. Richard and Zatanna Grayson

1 month after the incident...

Zatanna sat down at the family table, depressed. She had been to the doctor at least three times in the last month since the incident, but it still seemed like whatever she did, her hormones took over her. It's gotta be my head, It's gotta be my head... She kept telling herself. It had been only a month after everything, and the only thing that could and would take over her were hormones. It was absolutely crazy. She had scheduled another doctor's appointment today, this time with a female doctor, to see if she would know anything about what was happening than her regular male doctor. Zatanna stood up as she watched the clock turn to exactly 11:00 a.m. She grabbed her purse and ran out the door, hoping for the best of this important visit. Dick had to go to work and Mary Ella had scheduled to stay the night at Opal's last night and wouldn't be back for a while, so no one knew of this appointment.

She drove quietly down the streets and to the doctor's office, no music or radio on, no one to listen to talk. She was soon inside the sterile building and took the stairs up to the third floor, just for the good exercise. Zatanna came up to the front desk when she reached the office.

"What's your name sweetheart?" The old woman, who couldn't have been any older than 60 asked Zatanna.

"Zatanna Grayson,"She replied. Although she loved being married to Dick, she couldn't help but hate the fact that almost everyone who heard her last name would swarm all over her just hoping to get a juicy piece of information about where Dick was or what he was like in bed, or crap like that. The old lady smiled and typed her name in.

"Are you Bruce Wayne's daughter in law?" She asked Zatanna. Zee was quite startled at the unusual question. People usually didn't refer to her as that. It was usually Richard Grayson's wife, not Bruce Wayne's daughter in law. Zee smiled at the unusual question.

"Yes, I am." Zee replied to the old woman.

"Oh! Well, I'm Maria Celto, Bruce's second cousin. He doesn't talk to much about his family, which makes it hard to believe me." She said kindly. Zatanna could see a little resemblance of Bruce and Maria, not much, but a little. Zatanna smiled.

"Wow, I never thought Bruce had any cousins or family," She said smiling. "I'll have to mention you to him when he comes over for dinner tonight."

"Sounds good to me, Oh! and don't for get to mention that he still owes me ten bucks for that doll he broke when I was ten! I still haven't forgotten!" She told Zatanna. They laughed and Zatanna was called into the room. A fairly old woman at least 40 years old came into the room in a white lab coat.

"Hello, Zatanna. I'm Dr. Peterson," She said holding out a hand for Zatanna to shake. They shook hands and Zatanna sat down on the leather seat. "So what's going on?" She asked while taking Zatanna's blood pressure.

"Well, I should tell you the whole story, so then it doesn't sound like I'm crazy," Zatanna said.

"I doubt you'll sound crazy honey," Dr. Peterson said marking down the blood pressure rate and moving on to look in Zatanna's ears and eyes.

"I've tried that before, but my doctor only recommended a psychiatrist." Zee said. Dr. Peterson looked at Zatanna.

"Go on my dear, I doubt a psychiatrist could help you, I mean you don't sound like you're crazy at all." Dr. Peterson smiled and motioned for Zee to go on.

"Okay, well, first off I was kidnapped and knocked out a few times, which was nearly over a month ago, and now my hormones seem way off the tracks. I mean one night I was watching my daughter just play with her dolls and I started to laugh and the cry and then laugh and then cry and then..."

"Honey, I think I know what's going on. I don't know how you haven't seen it, dear, but I think we should get you a pregnancy test." Zatanna froze. Oh. My. Gosh. Why didn't I realize or think that? Zatanna though. Dr. Peterson went and got the pregnancy test, which Zatanna took and it came back positive.

"Congratulations, dear, I wish you the best of luck, we will see you in 3 weeks!" The doctor said as Zatanna left. When Zatanna got in the car she completely broke down into tear. A baby, a new baby. She thought. She knew that Dick and Mary Ella would be so happy. Dick had been telling Mary Ella stories of what brothers and sisters did together for fun, like playing games, always having each other to hang out with, being able to bond, and so on.

When Zatanna got home she noticed Bruce's car in the driveway. Crap! She thought. She parked the car and walked inside, hugging Bruce, Diana, Tim, and Mary Ella. When she hugged Dick she didn't quite hug him, which confused everyone, instead she whispered in his ear.

"We need to talk, now." She said fighting back tears of what she was about to tell him. Dick excused themselves and the walked into office and Zatanna shut the door. Her tears started to fall, and so she told Dick as fast as she could.

"So I went to the doctor today, this time a different doctor, to see what was wrong with me, and the funny thing is was that..." She was laughing and crying at the same time, which made Dick scared of what she was going to say next. "Dick," She said slowly and more calmly this time, "I'm pregnant." She said. Dick stared at her for a moment which made her scared that he might've changed his mind throughout the last few months.

Dick started to cry, he put his arms around Zatanna tightly, crying harder and harder. These weren't sad tears thought , they were tears of joy.

"Zee, I am so happy," Was all he could muster. He kissed Zatanna and smiled at her.

"Should we announce it to everyone now?" Zee asked now smiling. Dick nodded his head and they headed back into the living room. Everyone stared at them, maybe because of their tear stained faces or maybe it was because of the sniffles that were heard, but they were all staring at Dick and Zee.

"Is everything okay?" Diana asked, concerned. Zee lightly laughed, which was mixed with a cry.

"Yeah, everything's just fine," She said, looking at Dick to see if he was ready. Dick nodded and Zee looked back to everyone. "We have an announcement to make." She said, not even nervous that everyone had their eyes on her. "I'm pregnant."

And that's only the beginning...
